Haha the "316" means that nib was manufactured in March, 2016. Outstanding review! This might be my next pen. I have a PCH912 WA and it's out of this world!
I have this pen for three years and it perfoms beautifuly! Nice review, by the way, I've been waiting for one looong time) Only - I think you press the nib rather hard against paper. It writes with the lightiest touch, there's really no need to press it. That's what I like about it among other things. And yeah, it's great for sketching.
I just got a 912 with a soft fine medium nib, and it's been my favorite nib so far. If you haven't tried one of their soft nibs yet, it's worth a try. It's everything that I wanted my CH92 to be, but wasn't. Springy, smooth (just a hint of feedback), and pretty wet, even for a fine medium. I like everything about the pen aside from that it's nothing special to look at.
I have a 912 with a Waverly nib, and I love it. The pen is just such a nice size and very elegant. I am left handed and Jetpens recommends Waverly nibs for left-handed writers. It really does help as it doesn’t “dig” into the paper as it’s pushed along the paper. I’ve just ordered another one with a stub nib :-)
The numbers in the nib are the production date. I have a #15 PO with 1022 (October 2022) and an #15 FA with 610 (funny because bought recently) and a #15 B with 120. Oh well.
Thank you, David. (You might want to use "flares up" or some such to describe increasing in size and reserve "taper" to describe diminishment. Or not.) I hope that Hurricane Matthew passed you easily by.
Appreciate the review. I write on the rather small side so most of my pens are EF or F. Needless to say (or shall I say "needles" to say) the PO caught my eye but I think I'll skip it now that I can mostly write on decent FP paper. A few years ago, I bought a Platinum 3776 in UEF thinking it would be just what I was after but I really didn't care for the writing experience at all. If/when I get a 912, I'll probably go with the Soft FM.
Hi Thanks for the review! Just to share a bit of what I read from other people's review, the number on the pilot nib is the date of manufacturer, so 616 would mean that the nib is made in June, 2016.
The Platinum UEF is not as impossibly fine as you might think: if you’ve got a Sailor or a Pilot EF, it’s about the same line width as those; watch out, it’s quite toothy!:)
year 2020 Good evening MR. "FigBoot" sir! I've been scouring around on a kind of irksome bit of detail. The pilot custom line has "Heritage" known as the 92 (piston). That i know for sure; however the '912' I've been looking around and find quite vexed about its actual Identity. Ive seen it addressed 'CUSTOM 92' and in some cases as 'CUSTOM HERITAGE 912'. Im almost inclined to say either someone is mispronouncing it or theres actuall another model. Given you have extensive knowledge on a company or a particular model, I'm reaching out to you to help appease my curiousity to get to the bottom of this..
Custom Heritage refers to flat topped pens vs Custom, which are cigar-shaped (Cf. Sailor Pro Gear vs. 1911). There are different pens, like the CH 91 (a c/c pen), the CH 92 (a piston filler), and the CH 912 (also a c/c pen) with different price points.
Pressing way too hard on that nib! Shouldn’t dig into the paper at all!!! The pen is perfect for those with small writing or if you print to write. I can see this working well for Kanji.
Que tiene de ESPECIAL el NIB.... PO.?

My favourite fine line nib. Better than any custom grind needlepoint I tried so far. Thanks for the review

Can you use the soft fine medium nib for daily writing and notes?
There is a Pilot pen TV commercial in Japan recently(August 2017), and the protagonist was the 912 with PO nib.
Good video as always. Thank you for sharing the rain at the end - very relaxing - hope the hurricane did not hit your area hard.
Thanks. There was some flooding nearby, but the area I live was basically free from any damage.
That is the finest lines I've ever seen pretty neat! Thanks Figboot!
I have the same pen. It's nice for writing in a Leuchtturm1917 A5 journal as you won't get any bleeding or ghosting.
Ch912! A personal favorite. For the record: it's "Custom Heritage 912" but for some reason only "Custom 74" both great pens.
I have a 912 waverly nib which I love, just ordered this to scratch a EF itch.

you're right...that's a bit more correct.
If this is good on low quality paper is it prone to picking up fibres?
Is it as easy to floss with a brass shim? Does the bend make that difficult?

the numbers on the side of the nib is the manufacturing date for the nib. its month+year
I wonder how would this compares to a Sailor Saibi-Togi and a Platinum UEF :) I would love to see a side to side writing sample!

Can I change my F nib in my CH92 to PO nib or not?
did you do your writing sample on Rhodia paper?
Looks absolutely fantastic! Great review!
Legit review! I was looking for this.

These are two different pens

Seems like writing in reverse all the time 😂😂

We got the same stuff in the UK at the Pelikan Hub
awesome video
Thanks for the loan!

I find it to look a lot like Falcon.
The ending reminds me a little of CBS Sunday Morning.Beautiful.
A really underrated show...
i can hardly read the words lol
