This looks like it is made better. I bought an Aqueon 2 years ago and it is still in the package under my kitchen sink. It has so many parts to put together I didn’t want to fool with it at the time lol. Thanks for the review, looking forward to see how well it performs.
Dr. Novak which would you recommend as a more natural alternative Filter Media under a plenum. Pumice stone or Lava Rock? Or should i simply use Eheim Substrat Pro or Seachem Matrix?

IV a python gravel vac but I only got the head n hose I was gonna get the extention and tap but to join them so IV been using a bucket for over 8 year think it's time I get one but I prefer to mix we water n a bucket to treat first goodvideo
I guess I'm too cheap and lazy to go out and buy one of these lol. I just make my own with some tubing and a plastic water bottle and drain it into a bucket to water the plants outside. I'd hate to waste that wonderful fish poop water down the drain when water is such a precious resource here. Then I have a longer hose that connects to the bathroom faucet so I don't have to pack buckets of water to refill my tank. Speaking of which, today is my tank maintenance day and watching this review was just perfect timing lol.
I don't care for the hygger. I do use it to fill my tanks. I don't use the side that goes in the tank and vacuum the gravel. I have an aqueon for vacuuming but because I like to thoroughly vacuum my gravel and not waste water I hook one end to a pump I place in a bucket and set on my lawn or put in my bathtub. It empties the tank much quicker and when I am emptying one of my large tanks I put a pump on both ends. One in the tank and one in the bucket. Never tried the python. I'd buy the aqueon over the hygger. The hygger is much to bulky to fit in most tanks. I have to take the lids and lights off my tanks to use it effectively.
Python are way overpriced. German siphons are an alternative- stationary or portable Need to put one together w / a transfer pump. Faucet connectivity has been my issue.
Can I have a free one too? I have been keeping fish for 55 years and am a former store/maintenance/ custom installations of Aquariums and water features.Battling cancer for the last 8 months and maintains my 7 tanks help me keep my sanity being mostly house bound and continuing chemo therapy.💪🏼☮️🤙

Phyton sells quick release with adapter to to fossetts.
The fine thread faucet to 5/8 inch garden hose thread adapter is available at a hardware store. In brass as well.

In my 20 gallon planted freshwater fish tank with a plenum and BCB, I hardly find anything to siphon out except disturbing the substrate .
