“Venom Upon the Blade” is a completely sweet song by Fallujah... close enough? Copyright infringement? And do you accuse a man who can throw Kukris of such things?
I used this one and the one of the smaller size. It is an absolute nightmare of functionality. It's way too heavy it is too thick close to the edge. It doesn't cut, it doesn't chop and it barely splits anything (which is a knockdown since it should split the wood like hell!). I own like 5-6 kukri knives at a time, switching and testing at least two models usually. And man I never purchased a chopper that bad. Handle is OK tho.

The equivalent of that price range in US dollars is $505. That's good of a knife as you said it is, that's a bit beyond a reasonable price range. The most I've ever spent on a knife, it was about a $150US, and I thought that was a lot of money.
Never mind all the haters Skall, you're doing an awesome job with your reviews and videos! I came to this channel to see cool blades and that's what I got. Stay true to what you wanna do!
I got my friend a tridutnal for about 55$ US from Nepal. Works just fine for cleaning brush, whittling, and many other outdoor works. So you don't need a 500$ modernized version to do the same sort of stuff.
If i was gonna be trekking through the jungle for years, yup, I'd get one, but, as I'm old, fat and lazy these days, I dont think I'll bother. Cool blade though. Cheers.
Extrema Ratio currently makes knives for many of the Italian Special forces, great company. Unfortunately there are many fake copies of knives from this company.
i got my parang mailed to me from Indonesia to UK. it's made from a landrover leaf spring - so i do have to oil it at the end of autumn to stop it squeaking - and it had a cheapo plastic handle which i pulled off after i'd used it to carve a nice ash handle from a branch i found in my garden and finished with 2 sections i cut from an old brass water pipe. with postage i payed £17 :)
This big boy was my very first kukri. Took me a bit of practice to land my strikes on the roght spot of the blade, bit now I absolutely love it. Yes, it still has that 400€ price point and I could have gotten a whole lot of cheaper options, but I love it.
Worth every penny! Two different grinds, the steel, the length, the handle material...they truly knocked it out of the park. The price is the bonus. You know why? I will NEVER bump into another person carrying one in the woods. Next: Please review the Kreios machete so I can choose between the two.....ah screw it. I will just buy both. Cheers!
I use one from like 7 or so years. This is not the perfect tool (not in my enviroment at least - hard wood, harsh winter conditions, a axe is a axe..) Still I really enjoy it. Very good desing, nice quality. Still had it broken once (the first production run was 57HRC, wich was simply too much), the company exchanged the knive for a second production one (54HRC) free if charge (this is the point You pay extra money to them, materials for the blade are cheap, the process is also cheap You pay for the warranty, and desing wich is oustanding. This improved durability a lot. Still wish the gride would be little less agresive , more sturdy. If its is the tool for Your, enviroment (warmer weather, soft wood, etc) I can only tell buy it (if You will accept the price). Overall I am very happy with my, it was money well spent :)
I sleep with a longsword on one side, and an AR on the other. Be it marauding Saracens or a punk feelin' lucky, I've got my freedoms covered. - 'Merica.
In D&D terms, this is a masterwork kukri. For 3.5e that meant adding an additional 300 gold to the price for a single weapon. This thing is 427 euros, so that's where I'm getting the comparison from.
I bought one of these from Tactical Imports** in Canada a few years ago: my intention was to see if there was too much compromise to be my personal 1-tool load-out. It comes very close. The KH is the larger tool by about 100mm/ 4" in blade length plus its 2-handed handle (compared to their smaller KS model). The longer KH is better just by virtue of its longer reach and the speed of the tip-making it accomplished for brush-clearing and shelter-building. I had no durability issues and I am not gentle with it. Their burnishing allows some absorption of oil or stuff like Ballistol, which is a good reason for treating it: three days in the rain and no rust (but damned if I'd let this baby go to rust). As a kukri, it can hold its own but my favourite kukri is by Busse but $1,000US is ridiculous and the KH is more versatile. **TI has a new KH for well under $600CDN plus tax (15%), which at 0.75:1 exchange in Cdn$:US$ is a very good deal vs 429€ (pre-VAT). (Take a downmarket big blade out with the KH and you will return with 3 pieces: one intact KH and 2 pieces of the other knife.)
425 wow that a steep price but im sure ppl will pay. But am suprized how much knife are getting these days, especially for a product that is or mainly made on a machine
Cornered Fox do agree, the lights are expensive but they are adleast staying pretty competitive as long as you keep it pocket-ish size, am suprized how bright how fast they have gotten, alomst to bright now, know im hoping they bring the runtime to match.
Cornered Fox I don't know why you engaged him. He's best case grossly exaggerating the truth of his experience or worst case is an outright liar; and he talks like a neckbeard. Even outta the fuckin blue brought up women blaming him :P
I think it's more of a Kukri Surivival Enthusiast kind of blade. I would Love to use it and get one myself buy yikes man Thats a good chunk of money for a curved short sword. I think it's one of those blades that has so many purposes and has so much quality the price justifies it.
I am one of those kukri lovers you talk about and I can assure you that you are right: it is more of a collector's knife than an efficient tool. Personally I will buy it because it was always my childhood dream, but I would not recommend it.
Yeah, the checkout gave me a total shipping cost of €150, and here custom's tax is 50% of the gross amount you've paid (product + shipping + insurance if applicable). Makes it insanely hard if not impossible to buy online.
Avoid that blade at all costs. It's a useless fake obese shit. Just buy a big original performance kukri Skallagrim covered once or go for Ontario Kukri/ Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri. Those are the good ones, I think the one Skall got from Nepal should work fine as well.
Not a fan of the steel. If it was 5160 and $200 less, I'd be all over it. Check out the Zombie Tools (stupid name, I know) Vakra. Best damn Kukri on the market. All made by hand, big ass blade (12" cutting edge), it's think as hell (¼"), and best of all, 5160 alloy steel (it's a great steel for big knives, almost impossible to break). I'm a bladesmith, and considering such, I'd give the vakra a 9.5/10. Only issues I have with it is it's edge comes very thick, close to 75-85° overall. And a kydex sheath. I hate kydex because it dulls your blade when you pull it out of the sheath.
Axel Dwits I am, in fact, a long term fan. I was watching well before his Diphos review. I want him to test this specific Zombie Tools knife. Thanks though.
Another advantage to having screws through the tang rather than pins that you'll like Skall, is that with screws you can take of the handle and end thy enemy rightly with it.
What this comes down to is that it's not a reproduction or a battle sword. Kukris might make pretty solid weapons, but I think it's apparent from the design that they're primarily tools. Very useful tools, but the point is, tools are meant to be used, abused, and eventually damaged and broken. And then repaired or replaced. It comes down to how often you'll be using it. If you are in a position where a tool blade like this would get used very often, maybe investing in a tool with more durability might be worth it. If you only need something like this a few times a year, I think a cheaper version will end up making more sense economically. Even if you have to replace it every X number of uses, that's probably still years of availability for maybe 1/6th of the price. tl;dr a kukri is a tool, and unless you're using them constantly, tools shouldn't be that expensive
There’s a $20 clone that I bought a few years ago from some shady website when I first got into collecting. It’s definitely not the same quality, but it’s held up to some pretty rough use over the years.
Not a machete/big knife guy. prefer a belt knife and axe.... but you had me interested. Right up till the price drop. lol, feck that. just got ya playing in the background now... good review tho!
Another great review Skall. I've been interested in Extrema Ratio's knives for quite a while now. Great design and materials, just a bit expensive. There is a very viable alternative. Fox Knives, also out of Italy. Very similar design and materials, much more reasonable price.
As an Italian, I'm proud of our quality: Fox, Extrema Ratio, Maniago city automatic knives... let alone all the weapons that jumped out from the old boot shaped nation, during the various eras :-)
Extrema Ratio are official suppliers of the italian police and special army force, some of their blade are even named after specific divisions (for example the Col Moschin). They do very hi quality work, but they charge you a lot. You get what you pay for, no doubt. Just ask yourself: do you need a blade like that?
@@francescosirotti8178 One thing I would like to know is why they use the same steel and the same handle on each of their knives? In this case I think both the steel and the handle are not optimal. A kukri is a tool that would need a spring steel like 5160 or a tool steel with similar characteristics.
When I get some stable income im getting this, I love Farcry 4 and I've been wanting a cool knive/ machete. Plus it got a okay from you, a reviewer I trust.
Usually those pockets on the sheath are made either for a spare knife (doesn't look like it for this one) or a small survival spear point you can attach to a good stick to make a spear for hunting. I do a lot of bushcrafting so I actually use sheathes like this all the time.
You should check out NDC (near diamond coating) or DLC (diamond like coatings) for firearms. They're fairly cheap to apply but they can run 250.000+ cycles in a firearm without lubrication without needing recoating. That's better than a gerbil on Viagra. There's some very nice coatings being developed with very high imoact/abrasion resistance. You should also check out cerakote. Good watch thanks. That price tho...
I have been impressed with ER as their designs do go after the hard use abuse I’d want while staying with a fighting theme also. Lots of compound grinds. I’m also still on the fence at the price points and that’s only due to me having solid relationships with full custom makers. If I was just coming into the community or feel I couldn’t resist anymore I would buy from them and not look back. Always good reviews and their consistent. Also they have many awesome designs
I don't know how it compares to the KH but I bought a Fox tactical trakker and the KS (smaller version of the KH) and the Fox well outperforms the KS apart from the handle and the sheath. Don't really like the Fox handle and the sheath is complete junk, had already fallen apart by the time I opened the box but the chopping ability of the Fox for it's size and weight (450g or 1 pound)is amazing and it was only $200 NZD compared to the KS which was $600NZD by the time customs had their way with it. The Fox chops through vines like crazy and has a lot of power when chopping dry wood. The hollow ground section on the KS was a better performer than the Fox due to the more steep and curvy angle on the Fox making it awkward (more practice might yield better results) and the KS having a choil. Really recommend you try the Fox out, if you can, and I hope you find the same results as I did.
I wonder whether I could get a Chinese custom swordsmith (e.g. Sinosword) to make me a copy of the blade in T10, with a polished finish, and at a lower price point. JKOO/Sinosword recently made me a custom greatsword/nodachi hybrid with complex blade geometry for about $350 USD. I'll have to look into it.
I bought one of these...great knife, easy to sharpen, and I believe you may have misspoke on the hardness - another site listed 56 HRC...but perhaps they are mistaken...I have sharpened mine - it doesn't hold an edge as well as my Puma Bowie, but that knife is high carbon and it's forged steel too...
I dont mean to offend you Skall or the company, but I just have to say it, for a tool and a pretty basic one at that its just way way too expensive. Theres no way to tiptoe around it. The design is growing on me though.
I was just shaping a saber machete handle and it ended up similar to that except more smoothed corners and the top notch is only big enough for one or two fingers. It's perfect for strong vertical chops or wide swings from the side without fear of it being thrown. Very cool! Edit: For the price of a handgun I will pass lol
I'm a big fan of Extrema Ration knives. It has a unique vibe. If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, there is Fox FKMD Extreme Tactical Kukri. Similar steel and design style but is more than twice cheaper.
So can this be included in a sort of comparison between tactical blades, apocalypse blades, reproduction blades, and novelty blades? Maybe compare this against the executioner sword and giant opinel?
That's WAY too expensive for a survival knife/machete, that's decent sword range! I can't even imagine why they would need to charge that much for a small mass production blade, this isn't some guy hand forging them or anything.
I'm sitting here wondering who in the hell would pay over around 70 USD for a _tool._ A tool is something you're supposed to use, wear down, and then repair. Sure, it's probably as good as it gets for a kukri, but I'm not going to spend $500 on it when I nabbed a (admittedly less stylish, but perfectly functional) kukri for $15 at some knife store. If I spend $500 on something, the absolute last thing I'm going to do is take it out in the woods and go to hacking at shit with it, for fear that I'll screw it up and lose my investment. With a fifteen-buck cheapo chopper, there's much less risk. So what's the point? I'm genuinely curious.
Do you have a collection of something? If you don't, you probably won't understand why you would buy something like this. The test that he does is because of his channel and hobbies. People buy thousands of dollars worth of sneakers to play soccer in my country through the years... So I should play it without wearing a show, in your perspective
It’s like a Microtech, you pay for what you get. This shit is going to last WAY longer than a $40 survival knife. With sharpening and caretaking this’ll last your entire life
IIRC this steel holds shape well, but is sharpened relatively easily too from the few times I've seen reviews of blades made with it. It's part of why tools made with it are so relatively expensive.
@@danwesson2485 High cost can often bring jealousy from some. I would rather admire things for what they are whether my humble means can obtain them or not. Thank you friend. Adventure on
At the price i would go for a decent arming sword or longsword or save up for an albion i mean its almost there really love kukris but if i buy one ill go for a more traditional one
I picked up an Extrema Ratio knife (BF2 R CD) at a pawn shop thinking it was some no-name cheap knife, but it's inherent quality shone through and this misapprehension of mine dissipated. That's good quality - when the object makes itself known to you by its inherent virtue. The "straight razor" bit sticking up took some getting used to but it has shown itself to be a decent quick-deploy feature and I like the double-detent although I'm not sure why it's there. My only complaint is that the black aluminum, while nice to the touch, will show scratches like crazy. The locking feature is nice too.
I have the Extreme Ratio KS wich stands for Kukri Small. I don't know if it's still in production but I have done Everything with it. Greetings from Sweden.
Hey Skall, I have a question about swords with holes in the fuller. One of my favorite video games of all time is The Witcher 3: WIld Hunt and I've noticed a few blades that have holes in the middle of the blade. Does this serve any kind of purpose? Does it actively inhibit the way the blade functions? Or is it merely artistic?
Those are weaker than a fuller would be, throw off edge alignment far worse than a traditional fuller, and would make a blade more difficult and time consuming to clean. It's a bad idea IRL.
I don't know much about blades, but in construction we have holes in steel beams because it allows you to increase the depth of the beam, without it being any heavier than a beam with less depth and no holes, overall allowing the deep, 'holey' to span a further distance From that I'd imagine sword wise, you could afford to make the sword chunkier while keeping the weight the same. (Whether that's an advantage or not I'm unsure as like I say, I don't know much about blades)
That's dope I'm a kukri Maniac ill buy it soon I usually stick to Nepalese ones though but lately I've been getting into Cold Steel Fox and extreme ratio and you gotta to love the ka bar and the OKC one also my next kukri by is probably going to be the Condor K tact that thing is badass!
I had this knife I got in 2003 that they do not make anymore, but the Doberman is close to blade shape. Steel was N690 Stainless Cobalt Steel @ 58 HRC, I think it was the model t-2000m knife, truly frightening 12 inch blade. It did not sharpen as well as a x2 or tool steels, it also was not very springy like 1095 alloys. But this thing was about impossible to ruin. I left it in stagnant water to test the corrosion at one point for 4 months. It came out unnscathed. I used to pry stuff, even pushed it through a full metal clad door. It was marketed by Extrema Ratio as the Italian Spec ops diving knife. Someone stole it from me and I have missed the utility of the thing greatly. It was the best beat the crap out of it, blade I have ever owned. I picked up up from web page while in Iraq, as close range I had to use a hammer at one point. I never wanted have to use a 5 lbs hand sledge to kill again, so I got this knife and it became my favorite even more so then my Benchmade knives and I cannot find one to buy anymore.
This company is not normal, they sell a basic 6,9 cm bladed folding knife for €152 I don't fcking care how cool it is looking or how well made it is, even if I'm not going to buy it that price is a insult for other companies that are making quality products.
the black finish looks like the same titanium oxide finosh gerber likes to use. It is self healing. Basically you get small scratches and the ti oxide will spread back over the scratch. I had a gerber apple gate for many many years and used it every day for the entire time. Got another knife carried for a while picked the gerber back up and all the scratches were gone again. Instead of scratches showing the metal i had a slightly different texture that was black more glossy. I took a scotch bright to it and scuffed it up and gave it the nice satin finish black again. Also even the sharpened edge was turning black from the original coating (could have been the carbon blackening in the steel i suppose)
Hey Skall. Just wondering: I know you mentioned that the ballistic gel you use is synthetic. What I'm curious about is how it's produced. I know ordinarily it's made with gelatine, but of course you're a vegetarian, so that isn't ideal. So what do you use instead of gelatine?
Hey, Skall, nice vid as always. Btw, could you please make more reviews and tests on Zombie Tools stuff? I saw the Mephos and the Cleaver reviews you did and I loved those weapons, that brand is really quite something. You should try their Kraken axe, it is awesome.
Heather Kadera: Buy once, do it by yourself or hire for 400 over and over again... but who would kill so many people? You know: This is a fighting knive, for garden jobs you need a machete. ;)
Junichiro Yamashita There would be no import tax on Italian goods here, but the carrier company will present the goods to customs and make me pay for it. And the money gets collected in the most costly way possible.
The funny thing is you can order it to about any address inside the EU for a reasonable price. But if the package crosses the EU boarder costs explode. In Switzerland I could probably pretty much chose the country closest to me and let them send it there. It probably would be a good idea to chose a country where such things are legal, though. That's not problem here where I live and they can apparently ship it to anywhere in Italy so I should probably go there. I am sure there are many shops at the boarder where you can register, ship stuff to and they keep it for you to pick up for a small fee. I live close to the boarders to Austria and Germany and there you have such shops everywhere.
Peter Guhl yeah there is a similar system for the people who works there but live in the nearby countries, the get payed in franks(don t know the english name) but in an account made in swizerland and they have to change in euros everytime
Did you see the Knout that Joerg Sprave just reviewed? Wonder what you'd think of it.. Also, extremely durable and a replaceable handle? Sounds like $500 US isn't a bad deal if you don't have to replace it often..
Skallagrim: "excellent corrosion resistance, good edge retention, relatively easy to sharpen... so, overall, very high-quality steel" ... in another video: "comparable to VG-10 but better" ... and this one isn't losing it's finish... And Joerg mentions that the Knout is likely made from "spring steel, like from old trucks and stuff"..... whatever do you mean..?
I also want to point out that this knife is capable of replacing three of the four blades commonly used by bushcrafters and survivalists; those being the axe, the machete, and the large knife. Many kukri fail as one of the three, and the price is equal to the prices of a mid to high range set of the gear it can function as.
First of all, a hatchet alone usually weighs around the same weight as this knife, I don't know what dinky "tactical survival" hatchets you've been using, but any set of kit that'd be equal in price to this would weigh nearly three times as much and take up at least three times as much pack space if it was in properly functioning sheaths. Second, I don't know what backpacks you've been using, but most of mine have pockets large enough to fit this into. yes, it's on the larger end of what I could fit it into, but the average camping backpack can fit this into it, or would have some way of easily attaching a sheath to the outside. Third, at just under one and a half pounds this weighs roughly the same as many other machetes on the market, it just has a shorter, stouter blade than most, which is to say it shouldn't be any more difficult to blaze a trail with this than with any other machete.
i enjoy your videos. steel forged into such a beauty got something relaxing to it. good presentation, but i wish your videos would have less "blabla" sometimes (sorry for the slight insult there) i would love to see you doing more practical stuff with your blades.
Have you ever tested a Flamberge before? I imagine that this blade would be able to take off a Hand or other Limb. Probably would Brake a bone. How does it handle Armor just out of curiosity?
There should not be any doubt as to the potential as a weapon, and not simply as a work blade. Good enough for the Gurkhas in combat, good enough for the rest of us.
Something a well-off back country hiker might find useful. Replace small axe/hatchet and a knife? Never did more than 1-2 nights camping and did minimalist style. Shovel, handaxe, folding saw, 18" machete. 40yrs later and only small machete still around. Still, that beast looks useful to me except for that "elephant in the room ".
I'd worry about the n690 permanently deforming when using it like a machete or chopping wood. I don't know what steels flexing characteristics are. The guys in Nepal use leaf springs which is ideal, because it bounces right back.
Good video, i also watched previous video about the same knife and i agree with your opinion. Excellent kukri just the price is to high. I’m aiming to buy one for couple years now but they are rear and you just don’t find them online for cheaper price, I’m surprised that Extrema Ratio don’t have them on sale sometimes. I’ll continue looking because I want one really bad.
I feel like the angle on the tip could be made a little more acute. That would make it much better at stabbing, without sacrificing much length on the cutting edge.
7:42 "Poison for a blade" sounds like sick death metal album XD
I'd listen to that. \m/

I used this one and the one of the smaller size. It is an absolute nightmare of functionality. It's way too heavy it is too thick close to the edge. I got my friend a tridutnal for about 55$ US from Nepal. Works just fine for cleaning brush, whittling, and many other outdoor works. So you don't need a 500$ modernized version to do the same sort of stuff.
Poor man problems
Indonesia has that kind of craftsman?
That's a steal!!!
they even have customer service lol
This big boy was my very first kukri.
Took me a bit of practice to land my strikes on the roght spot of the blade, bit now I absolutely love it.
Yes, it still has that 400€ price point and I could have gotten a whole lot of cheaper options, but I love it.
Skall if there is a video on youtube that i have to watch every day it would be this ive been waiting for this video for 3 years
Worth every penny!
So bold! So tangy! So spicy!
Skall, you got a whole buffet of style going on!
For over $500 USD, I'll buy a $40 Kershaw Kukri, and an AR-15. Neat knife though.
Mr. Dmitri Ravenoff You can't buy an ar-15 on almost any country though.
I sleep with a longsword on one side, and an AR on the other. Be it marauding Saracens or a punk feelin' lucky, I've got my freedoms covered. - 'Merica.
The pawn shop near my house has ar-15s
Obviously it's not worth that much. This is a case of charging a lot because they know people will pay that much.
snso9smwmz skiosmssms Oh you can you just have to get it in a non-legal fashion
But am suprized how much knife are getting these days, especially for a product that is or mainly made on a machine
proudamericanrobman: Can you link a simimiar knive in size and steel which cost under 100 bucks?
Cornered Fox do agree, the lights are expensive but they are adleast staying pretty competitive as long as you keep it pocket-ish size, am suprized how bright how fast they have gotten, alomst to bright now, know im hoping they bring the runtime to match.
Phreak a 100 and a 400+ dollar blade is the a world of the difference it like comparing a civic and a nsx.
Cornered Fox I don't know why you engaged him. He's best case grossly exaggerating the truth of his experience or worst case is an outright liar; and he talks like a neckbeard.
Even outta the fuckin blue brought up women blaming him :P
@In Actis Esto Volucris Are you still schizophrenic?
I think it's more of a Kukri Surivival Enthusiast kind of blade. I would Love to use it and get one myself buy yikes man Thats a good chunk of money for a curved short sword. I think it's one of those blades that has so many purposes and has so much quality the price justifies it.
I am one of those kukri lovers you talk about and I can assure you that you are right: it is more of a collector's knife than an efficient tool. Personally I will buy it because it was always my childhood dream, but I would not recommend it.
I quite like it, but since adding shipping and local customs fees would make me pay a total of €865.5.. well, nope.
Ouch. Yeah, that's way too much.
Yeah, the checkout gave me a total shipping cost of €150, and here custom's tax is 50% of the gross amount you've paid (product + shipping + insurance if applicable). Makes it insanely hard if not impossible to buy online.
Holy cow you can buy 4 custom knives with m390 steel for that price!
You're not a long time fan, are you? He's already reviewed a bunch of Zombie Tools weapons and he loves them.
Weight is also a consideration for most people.
Well fitted kydex does only dull steels which get dull very fast. I have never had issues with kydex.
Just close your eyes while he describes the grip and let your imagination flow
Are you a boy or a girl??😋
It sounds like flash light i mean that rubber pussy or really weird dildo
Great work on video mate
I need this in my life! I love these style blades. this one is so impressive.
Dying Light also has this machete as "Khukuri machete".
I might get one someday. It looks extremely durable and cool.
GreaseStain yeah for that you could buy 2 gransfors bruks axes for that much and still have some left over
Another great review Skall.
Wow. I'm amazed the black finish held up like it did. I guess they are worth the price then...
Extrema Ratio are official suppliers of the italian police and special army force, some of their blade are even named after specific divisions (for example the Col Moschin). They do very hi quality work, but they charge you a lot. You get what you pay for, no doubt. Just ask yourself: do you need a blade like that?
Francesco Sirotti I certainly want one under my tree
Given what we’ve seen in past videos, black finish tends not to last. This certainly stands out.
@@francescosirotti8178 One thing I would like to know is why they use the same steel and the same handle on each of their knives? In this case I think both the steel and the handle are not optimal. A kukri is a tool that would need a spring steel like 5160 or a tool steel with similar characteristics.
Yes, Khukri, a weapon from Indian subcontinent, signature melee weapon of Gurkha regiments
In that price there's also the made in italy mark and as an Italian I'm pretty proud of this fine work
I am italian too and must say I am not impressed. Even though i like the design aesthetically wise
When I get some stable income im getting this, I love Farcry 4 and I've been wanting a cool knive/ machete. Plus it got a okay from you, a reviewer I trust.
I'd love to see that with a great point in a pocket folder!
That purple wallpaper is exactly what I want for my new apartment!
I wish they had a variant without the tacticool black finish.
yeah, but tacticool seems to be this companies entire reason for existing.
kidthorazine Hence the price lol.
Wow. A random UA-cam commenter being a hostile jackass. How very original.
The black finish is to help protect the blade
Maybe compare this against the executioner sword and giant opinel?
your videos only get better. keep up the great work :)
That elephant sound effect/joke was great :)
That's WAY too expensive for a survival knife/machete, that's decent sword range! I can't even imagine why they would need to charge that much for a small mass production blade, this isn't some guy hand forging them or anything.
Kukri are also considered short swords.
Love this blade! Pricey? Yes. Above my humble budget for sure. Yet, this is an exceptional blade for those who can afford one.
Nicely put! Price is not for everyone, obviously. But some of the replies about price......annoying.
@@danwesson2485 High cost can often bring jealousy from some. I would rather admire things for what they are whether my humble means can obtain them or not. Thank you friend. Adventure on
Far Cry 4 is what got me in love with the Kukri.
It's a nice Kukri but it's WAY to expensive.
At the price i would go for a decent arming sword or longsword or save up for an albion i mean its almost there
really love kukris but if i buy one ill go for a more traditional one
I picked up an Extrema Ratio knife (BF2 R CD) at a pawn shop thinking it was some no-name cheap knife, but it's inherent quality shone through and this misapprehension of mine dissipated. That's good quality - when the object makes itself known to you by its inherent virtue. The "straight razor" bit sticking up took some getting used to but it has shown itself to be a decent quick-deploy feature and I like the double-detent although I'm not sure why it's there. My only complaint is that the black aluminum, while nice to the touch, will show scratches like crazy. The locking feature is nice too.
Спасибо за отличный обзор. Других хороших обзоров конкретно на эту модель я так и не нашёл. Еше раз спасибо за видео
I have the Extreme Ratio KS wich stands for Kukri Small. I don't know if it's still in production but I have done Everything with it. Greetings from Sweden.
Hey Skall, I know you stated that this kukri is one of your favorite knives, but what is your favorite blade in general that you currently own?
I believe the Albion Kriegmesser.
Hey Skall,
I have a question about swords with holes in the fuller. One of my favorite video games of all time is The Witcher 3: WIld Hunt and I've noticed a few blades that have holes in the middle of the blade. Does this serve any kind of purpose? Does it actively inhibit the way the blade functions? Or is it merely artistic?
Wouldn't that compromise the structure of the blade itself though?
n bo: So rims will collapse if you put them on a car?
Phreak A circular piece of steel or aluminum is a lot more structurally sound than a tapered piece of steel with circles of material missing. XD
Those are weaker than a fuller would be, throw off edge alignment far worse than a traditional fuller, and would make a blade more difficult and time consuming to clean. It's a bad idea IRL.
I don't know much about blades, but in construction we have holes in steel beams because it allows you to increase the depth of the beam, without it being any heavier than a beam with less depth and no holes, overall allowing the deep, 'holey' to span a further distance
From that I'd imagine sword wise, you could afford to make the sword chunkier while keeping the weight the same.
All I could think is this looks cool then the price instantly made it not even remotely cool
the black finish looks like the same titanium oxide finosh gerber likes to use.
Great video, ur reviews are great, very in-depth , keep them coming...
Just ordered one, ordered the training one too, have you had any problems with it?
Hey, Skall, nice vid as always. Btw, could you please make more reviews and tests on Zombie Tools stuff? I saw the Mephos and the Cleaver reviews you did and I loved those weapons, that brand is really quite something. You should try their Kraken axe, it is awesome.
400 bucks...I'd hire someone to do my chopping for a week!
Heather Kadera: Buy once, do it by yourself or hire for 400 over and over again... but who would kill so many people? You know: This is a fighting knive, for garden jobs you need a machete. ;)
Of all the blades\weapons\tools that you own, what three would you bring into a post apocalyptic future?
Dave Sanders
Pommel
most likely a spear and a tomahawk
Yeah, spear, tomahawk and utility knife seem like the obvious answer.
i think one of the most bad ass looking knives from extrema ratio is the "corvo" go check it!
The kukri was never meant as a weapon but let's be honest, it makes a damn fine one
Indeed, particularly when it's main purposes were chopping wood and ceremonially used to chop the entire head off a bull in one swing
Yee
An Italian company. So I could go there and import it myself. That would cost only 7.7% VAT. I feel kind of priviledged. Austria would be even closer.
Peter Guhl i have done the same with the absinthe in swizerland
Junichiro Yamashita There would be no import tax on Italian goods here, but the carrier company will present the goods to customs and make me pay for it. And the money gets collected in the most costly way possible.
I think i would pretty much do the same to buy Shape Up in Germany for the same reasons, during my school trip
Rob personally, I'd much prefer that one over this...
I dunno, it's kinda hideous looking... and this one seems more practical.
Rob that thing is made of stainless steel.....eugh...
Mesmerizing review skall
Try the brushdemon khukri I've had it for 2 years and it's still functions
What if?
What if you review the Umbreakable Umbrella? It´s always interesting to know what you think about something
i enjoy your videos.
steel forged into such a beauty got something relaxing to it.
good presentation, but i wish your videos would have less "blabla" sometimes (sorry for the slight insult there)
i would love to see you doing more practical stuff with your blades.
so any alternative choice for the similar size and sharpness?
Leave it to Skall to find a way to make Pagan Min look even sillier.
Have you ever tested a Flamberge before? I imagine that this blade would be able to take off a Hand or other Limb. Probably would Brake a bone. How does it handle Armor just out of curiosity?
As far a i know, Kukris are made for fighting. They inflict terrible wounds and have a good shape for blood not running onto your hand.
Still, that beast looks useful to me except for that "elephant in the room ".
im not going to buy it but why that doesn't ship to brazil ?
wonder if you should review a combat, military, or survival shovel. :/
TheLPRnetwork Combat shovel? thats a thing?
not this exact thing (cause it's not for sale) but shovels like this one.
ua-cam.com/video/pOzaQTPeznE/v-deo.html
If you can get a hold of a Marshal Historical Maciejowski Falchion, would enjoy seeing a review. Great vids and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
That is a very nice-looking woods blade. If only it were more budget friendly, lol.
After abuse, quick touch up & it cuts phone book print that nicely. Wow, just wow!
I feel like the angle on the tip could be made a little more acute. That would make it much better at stabbing, without sacrificing much length on the cutting edge.
Beautifully done.
