Loved the review. I've been debating about the anthros chair since it was released, and your comments about the return policy in Canada are what have helped me make a decision.
I was on board with spending 4-500 dollars.. then you come out with the price at the end and I have to reevaluate my life lol. I appreciate the thorough review!
Honestly, before I decided to look into a good chair for my back, I never knew a chair could cost this much lol. But then I was like, I'm sitting in this thing 10+ hour a day, I probably should make sure it's a good one. One thing I've learned is that once we screw up something on our body, there is really no going back. I have an injury on my left foot from when I was a kid and it still bothers me every now and then.
Thanks! Sometimes, doing this channel is like creating content I personally want to see but don't really exist (or only very few exist), haha! It's fun!
I've considered swapping out my Embody for the Anthros. I plan to give the Embody to my partner, as I know she loves the functionality of the chair. The Anthros appeals to me because of the focus on posture improvement -- specifically for my lower back. I appreciate the comparison of features across these offerings!
I have tried all three chairs for a couple of weeks,, and Aeron is far superior for very long sitting sessions (10h+) I can sit in Aeron whole day with zero pain... I never had close to this experience in any other chair, and your review seems as if you didn't use the chairs for weeks for 10hours plus each day. From my experience be careful about Anthros because after couple of days I could not find ANY spot that could last me whole day, I started to adjust the chair constantly till I stopped using it. For me Aeron is something that can't be compared to any other chair if your work is sitting at your desk for whole day :)
The Aeron back can also come meet you for video editing by using forward tilt. In fact, the Herman miller manual suggest using forward tilt while typing.
My issue with Aeron's forward tilt is that the seat tilts as well, so it's less "the back comes meet your back,” but more like you are just tilting your entire hip angle. It's a completely different experience than just leaning forward while keeping your thighs at the same position as before. My Aeron had the forward tilt and I didn't find it to be useful for when I needed to lean forward.
@@JamesZhan That's true. Unlike the aeron, back of the anthros moves independently of the seat. I actually like the way the seat goes forward on the aeron. It relieves pressure and helps circulation. I don't have an Anthros to try though. Seems like a great chair.
@@truthssayer1980 Yeah, there are definitely benefits for Aeron's forward tilt, and I know people who love it. The worst implementation, imo, is Haworth Fern's, though, where only the seat tilts forward, so your back would be completely unsupported. Such a strange decision, considering that Haworth Zody's forward tilt does tilt the backrest as well.
Great video by the way. Maybe the best in-depth overview of the Anthros. I'm on the fence about trying one, as I have some back issues and sit A LOT working at home all day, most days. But, it's really expensive and I already have a Fern, Leap and a Capisco (that I don't use enough). The Anthros looks like it could be a great in-between sweet spot for the Fern/Leap and the Capisco, where the Fern is comfortable but not super ergonomic/ortopedically optimal and the Capisco is great for encouragaing goot posture and constant adjusting, but is not that comfy for lounging or sitting on all day (it's more like a stool than a traditional office chair).
Thanks! Yeah I also feel like I haven't seen an in-depth comparison among these 3 chairs, which was why I made this video. I tried out the Fern, but like you said, it was comfy but I could so easily slouch in it so it didn't feel like it could help me sit with proper posture.
Yeah, there are lots of Leaps and Aerons on the used market; it's definitely nice to have the option! I still bought mine new because I wanted the 12-year warranty haha
Hi James, thank you very much, very detailed video, I really appreciate it! Since I lived in Italy, unfortunately it would be impossible to try an Anthros chair. Did you ever try or hear about Stealth Ergolab chair? What's your thought about it? It looks very good, but I'm afraid it lacks good shoulder support.
I have several Leap chairs. Not even the. V2 and I have to say they’re pretty great overalll. Not perfect. But the idea of the anthros seems interesting. However, two of my reconditioned Leaps cost less than half the price of a single anthros. I stick a small cylindrical lawn chair pillow along my spine at my work computer and I can go all do no problems. In my studio, I don’t use a pillow but I have a nice cushy foot rest. Playing guitar I. The chair though isn’t the best. I would switch if I could find a chair where the arms flip back and out of the way
Yup! Embody just didn't work for me. Its backrest just doesn't align the curve of my back at all. It was really uncomfortable to rest my back on. That said, it might work out for your back. Have you had the chance to try it out in a showroom?
The Anthros seems to have more adjustability but who is actually gonna dial in all the options every time they move position. You even sped up the video when you did it because you knew how long it takes lol
You obviously don't need to adjust it from scratch every time! I was just showing how to set it up for you from the “0” position. In practice, once it's set up, you don't need to do that again :) During the day, I just make minor adjustments as I feel like it-it's amazing
This guy complaining about his back... Bro, you've no idea. Try being over 6' and 250+ lbs and having to sit all day as you get older. Your back doesn't stand a chance.
If they are offering you the chair for free against a review it probably would make your review unconsciously biased , just like psychoacoustic phenomenons.
One could argue that because I spent my own money on the Aeron and the Leap, I would be more biased for them due to "sunk-cost fallacy"! But I understand the concern, for sure. Good thing is that my channel has a strong track record of staying as honest and unbiased as possible even when I received the product for free-I never hesitate to point out what I don't like about them.
Hey there! You must be new to the channel. I have a strong track record of not shilling for products and I do not do ads or sponsorships in general. As per usual, this is absolutely not an ad or sponsorship. Ads or sponsorships almost always involve a payment from the company to the creator for a video (in addition to the product). I assure you that there's no such monetary exchange between Anthros and me. The Anthros chair is simply a great product, imo. I'm still sitting in it day in and day out, and I love it. This review is all based on my personal experience using this chair long term. The fact that I had a positive conclusion doesn't inherently mean this is an ad. Plus, this channel is not what I do for a living, so there's no reason for me to lie about the chair (that's why I'm so transparent about what I don't like about the Anthros in the video).

@ lol me too with my foot! Lol. Was a hairline fracture that never quite healed properly. Still bothers me if I do a lot of walking.
What do you think about the Logitech embody backrest, seat, and arm pads vs anthros
So is the Anthros skeleton model 7ft tall? 🤔
underreported subject as usual! great stuff James

Can find Leaps & Aerons used by me fairly easily, often at 60-75% off.

great review thx
What size Aeron chair did you try out?
Size B!
Merci de parler d’une chaise qui ira aussi pour jouer de la guitare.
this not having 1k views is actually crazy
Herman Miller Setu Armless is the best for guitar player.
Wish u had picked a low price choice as well
Have you ever sat in an embody? I’m still between this and the embody. Cheers!

I bought a gaming Embody and it made my lower back pain worse and it also caused some pain in my Achilles' Tendons

ANTHROS YOU HAVE TO INDIVIDUALLY ADJUST DIALS WHEN YOU CHANGE POSITIONS THAT'S A HUGE NO GO
That's how you get maximum customization though?

Anyone who suffers from gas should not buy padding because it will soak in and then they have to throw it away.
