It's definitely true, for someone who's been watching these Oscar recaps for the year 1986 and 1996 as well etc. For some reason it also felt a lot more laid back and real. Perhaps to do with the quality of production.
You are so correct on this one, ma'am. I believe it started with the music. Bill Conti's music, Oscar melodies as I like to call them, should be used for all ceremonies, with or without him conducting for the show. They need to get his music back, make it enchanting again. It has been 13 years since the last good Oscar ceremony.
How much I miss these times, people would actually live the moment, not worrying about social media and taking their phones out. Taking a picture with a camera and then taking the time to get it printed by a Profesional made every single Pic mean a lot! I miss the 90s
Thanks for this. Though I have it saved on some recorded VHS tape in my boxes somewhere, it was fun pausing all the shots of the VIPs exiting their limos to walk the red carpet, as I was there being a Davel Limousines rep to assist any of our clients. (I have no recollection who in those VIPs we had on our company's roster.) Couldn't find myself, but in those far shots from the top of the bleachers, I'm there somewhere. (That might've been the Oscars where I saw elderly Ginger Rogers seated outside waiting to enter the venue, they didn't make her do the red carpet.)
This was the first show produced by Gilbert Cates and directed by Jeff Margolis. Cates went on to do 13 more shows up until 2008. Best of the best. Arguably this is the show that created the look and feel of the modern day Oscars. And we all miss the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Jem and the Holograms Episode 68 "Around the World with Jem and the Holograms Part 1" Jem and the Holograms Episode 69 "Jem and the Holograms In Outer Space Part 2"
Here's Don Johnson with the future wife of Antonio Banderas. Here's Tom Selleck with the soundtrack of the movie he wasn't in. The very funny Chevy Chase with his usual angry face.
Oh Isabelle Adjani. Love her. But in all honesty, that period was not as boring and fashion focused as today. Today is a fashion show each time talking more about dresses than even movies of the year. Very poor
Love how towards the end the presenter says how technologies that haven't been invented yet or something along them lines!!...about how movie could go direct into homes via satellite!...wonder if in 1990 they knew what was coming!!...because now in 2016, infact before 2016 we have that very technology!..downloads, Internet etc. :)
Maybe it is just me, though the tone in Karl Maldens speech seems really foreign listening to it now 2017. I hope his (maybe)naive optimism will be warranted in the future and not to be the butt of an unintended joke. Well... a bad and far-fetched joke. Building walls is, despite the not-so-long-ago fall of the Soviet Union, again a totally cool thing to do. So much for the satellites depicting humanity in every home. These uploads are great stuff!
"Poised on the edge of the final decade of the 20th Century". Wonderfully put by the legendary Karl Malden. Little did he know more than 30 years later the film industry would be tearing itself apart appeasing the dreadful woke movement that isn't interested in filmmaking, just it's own nihilism sucking all the fun out of what was once great.
Oh wow, have I love to remember the Oscars when they were fun, classy, and free of social and political agendas. Our family would treat it like the Super Bowl. We’d have a big family party with lots of food and our parents would let us stay up until the end. And then what 5-7 years ago it was completely taken over and ruined by all the woke, liberal, leftist, radicals. The had to make their social and political agendas the story line and completely ruined this once epic family event. My kids will never know the Oscars like my brother and sisters and me because we just don’t watch them because it’s that bad now. Just terrible.

Female and Male leads were really beautiful then. Now 2023 and since 2018s, in the name of "diversity" all ugly faces are been thrown in front of our eyes...
Uh no. Men maybe not women, sadly. If only we could have ugly women in Hollywood - Hollywood needs to put normal looking women on screen just as they do with men.
There is something enchanting about the older times

SO MUCH better back then, as apposed to today...i miss the 80s and 90s.
Words can't describe how magical the good old days were. I miss those days very much.
Pro tip : watch movies at Flixzone. Been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
Started crying when saw Robin so happy. Why is it so that the people who are the unhappiest often dedicate their lives to making others smile?
RIP
Natalie Knipse I felt he looked really full of anxiety squeezing his dates hand and clutching it high to his chest. Man,none of us had any idea.
he looks terrified.

I miss the 90s
@Meadow Pinkelle most of them did, since ther was noting virtually to worry about, "just be there and enjoy it" that was all
@Meadow Pinkelle I'm 30
There were the cameras though
so much better back then
i wish i could go back to this time….the 80s and 90s were just so much better than today…. everyone’s life is now in their phones
and easily offended
@@nikolawaste249 exactly…..i like you 😊
I miss the 90s everyday
We will never ever have this type of Oscar with glamorous and elegant style...
Kim Basinger looked fantastic. What a beautiful woman! Michelle Pfeiffer, Geena Davis, Diana Ross, Daryl Hannah were amazing too
Legia Warszawa
@AtlasUniverse Don't forget Julia Roberts though.
Ive never seen Julia Roberts look that hot
I was 9 years old, amazing how times flies.
Everyone looked so natural and beautiful, not filled with Botox, fillers, and loads of plastic surgery like today.
Everybody Was Natural And Beautiful Damn Where Did The World Go Wrong at ???
Netflix n Tik tok...
Это интересует всех, где мы свернули не туда
Late 90's - the dawn of the on-line Social Media age.
the internet came
I’d rather not say where and how but we just witnessed elegance class, respect, restraint, responsibility, morals, ethics, and humility. So beautiful
RIP Robin.............
Ćpun
Robin Williams
Yup.. may his soul Rest In Peace
Tom Hanks & Julia Roberts looked like teenagers. 😂
Back when the represent on red carpet was elegent and humble. Now! The younger generation is so showing off
Jodie is awesome!
I've got to tell you that Sir Daniel Day-Lewis looks absolutely stunning and incredible!
2:47..the actress with the most BEAUTIFUL SMILE of all time JULIA ROBERTS beautiful !!.. Jessica Lange very beautiful too !!

Jodie Foster so damn pretty, that look she made on camera guy, damn.
It was incredible
Very eloquent speech by Karl Malden

Yes that's true. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion was magnificent. Much better than the Dolby Theatre.
Morgan freeman hasn't age a bit (literally)
Dorothy Chadler Pavillion is my favourite place to deliver the oscars. Total glamour and glitz
they should go back there or The Shrine...The new place is shit
Class.
When it focused more on actually presenting and appreciating the art of acting rather than Making cringey skits and comedy🥴🥴.
I love the Jodie Foster's smile
back when fans could behave like fans and not get on the internet and snark at every moment or tear celebrities down
At 4:30, ironic they would play the theme from Indiana jones just as they show Tom Selleck who was originally cast for the part.
When Oscars were about entertainment
Back when the Oscars weren’t a big political activist commercial.
With the music at the beginning it makes it sound like a televised parade is going to happen 😂
kinda sounds like jurassic park
Wow hey Tom Hanks looked kinda cute here didn’t he? And Kim Basinger?! 🔥🔥🔥
Dont forget Julia Roberts
4:04 she’s so pretty
Damn they look all soo good
Jessica Lang 🖤🖤
Golden era of hollywood!
The time when a man was a man and a woman was a woman!
This will not happen again!
oh God Jaime, why did you ruin it? Trans people have existed since the beginning of time.
I love how they looked so human back then
Bro, just look at all those heavy hitters walking down the red carpet.
Jodie Foster was the Yukino Miyazawa of karekano at that time with that look. She was really beautiful!
Jem and the Holograms Episode 68
"Around the World with Jem and the Holograms Part 1"
Jem and the Holograms Episode 69 "Jem and the Holograms In Outer Space Part 2"
I miss these times
The world in our hands made things less exclusive compared to old times...TV was everything. U had to watch this via TV.
The presenter talks about the flowers while he doesn't recognize a young Kenneth Branagh in front of them 😁
..when Julia walks in..
Mon dieu j'en ai des frissons, quelle époque extraordinaire
Here's Don Johnson with the future wife of Antonio Banderas. Here's Tom Selleck with the soundtrack of the movie he wasn't in. The very funny Chevy Chase with his usual angry face.
Lmao!
Oh Isabelle Adjani. Love her. But in all honesty, that period was not as boring and fashion focused as today. Today is a fashion show each time talking more about dresses than even movies of the year. Very poor

This is what the 2021 Oscars will be like on April 25: Originating from multiple locations, including the Dolby Theater.
Was it I missed it
@@TechVHD Well, most of the show was at Union Station, but there were remotes from London, Paris, and Sydney.
