I had a raccoon, I raised her since she was only a few months, with four others. I bottle fed her since I found her by the road with her dead mom and those babies were just squealing.. She would only come to me, and she wouldn't let anyone mess with me. She always made this sound of recognition when she saw me.. She would sleep with me.. She just loved pringles and roast beef.. I taught her how to swim and climb.. she climbed so high one day and the branch broke and I caught her.. I miss her
We could probably domesticate them like the foxes in Russia if we wanted to. That one would probably be a good one to breed because it wasn't aggressive, showed curiosity, and could get close to people.
well i dont really know how it works with raccoon's but if a cat is out side with out seeing humans in the first weeks they will be wild for the rest of there life but if you take a pregnant wild cat and put him into a room and some one comes in a couple of time each day when the kittens where born the kittens would become tame and after the mother abandons them because of that they are to old can you have them as pets
They are not related to the bear. Thats what people thought ages ago. They are in their own genus called Procyon. Meaning "before the dog" or "dog like"
1. I have known (personally) 2 people who have kept raccoons as pets. My grandfather, and my driver when I was deployed in Iraq. 2. They are social animals. They live in social groups. I have actually seen them traveling in small packs, myself. Thank you for your well-informed comment :P comment
@Campbell042 Yeah, I don't know why people are so afraid of them. They're actually pretty harmless. Sure, they behave aggressively when cornered/trapped. But what wild animals doesn't?
Lol my neiborhood raccoon came to the back of my porch and he came pretty close too. He usually comes ever single night, and tonight, I fed him food so he can fatten up for the winter. Lol he was pretty cute.
Just the cutest things. Raccoons are so cute but we used to have a colony of them in the 2 willow trees in my backyards and lets just say they werent the nicest. you couldnt even go into the backyard after nightfall cause they would take over.
I've learned that when pet raccoons get older they become more aggressive, especially the males. That's why you gotta love those foxes! I've held a baby foxes, pet adults and they are so friendly! (No they were never wild, though the adults came off a fur farm)
Just because a raccoon is out during the day does NOT mean they are rabid. Please take the time to research your facts before you immediately assume something. Also, did anyone consider the possibility that this was once a raccoon raised by humans that was released when he became to destructive? This happens all too often, and it's sad. This is the end result, a raccoon that goes to people because it's learned that's where the food is, then people assume its rabid and kill him. Pshhh!
I just got a baby raccoon yesterday. Her and her brother were just sitting in the middle of the road, momma was no where to be found. But they're so adorable! (:
I hate it when people think Cute = Harmless. It won't be until this guy inevitably gets bitten that he'll get a real appreciation & respect for the difference between an animal hand-tamed from birth by a professional care-giver, and a slightly curious wild raccoon he found on his back deck that keeps coming around because he thinks it's cute and entices it to stick around and smile for the camera... This raccoon would probably bite his face if he ever got too close or made a sudden move.
we had 3 raccoons come over this summer. each Wednesday, when my friend, my cousin, my brother and i were swimming. they were very cute, ate bread right out of my moms hand. after a while, one of them went missing, then all of them left. we named them jack, fuzzball, and Elmo. (don't ask why we chose Elmo) before they left, we would put peanuts , bread, and bananas out, we had put a kiddie pool out so they could swim, we called critter control, but no rabies. i loved them very much
We have always had raccoons come to our yard We put out food for cats and they come at the end of the nite . One in particular keeps coming in my backyard...And looks like he wants to make friends
Pretty much what I was gonna say. Only 3 REAL possible reasons for a raccoon to be that comfortable around people and out in the day time: Rabies, was raised by a human (usually cause abandoned or orphaned at birth), or was used to people cause someone took care of it. I knew a guy who hand fed a mother squirrel but took like 3 months to get her to be that comfortable with him.
Yeah, I still have her. My step brother has her brother. Racoons are adorable I love them but mine is a handfull sometimes. >.< Awh, that really sucks. :c They make really good pets but make sure you have a LOT of spare time. Lol
I suspect this little guy was hoping for a little snack. I've never understood why people people persecute these creatures so relentlessly. Just about everyone I know in my area kills them on sight. They have never hurt me, my family, or my pets. I leave them alone and enjoy them each time I see them. Thanks for sharing and for caring!
Some babies can be real sweet! I had 3 in my yard a few years ago that would wait for me to bring them food every morning. They left and went their seperate ways when they were about a year old :)
i had a pet raccoon!!! her name was cookie. cuz that was her fav food, peanut butter cookies. lol. one night she came to the house, with five babies behind her !!!! never saw her again.... :'( i miss her. she was a sweetie
apparently that raccoon was someones pet and it got out which would explain why it was out and about during the day. i raised one for two years. she loved to go outside and play during the day. ...cute video!
I had a bottle of mountain dew and only a bit was left and I put it in the recycling bin two raccoons came and one got my bottle and was drinking from the puddle, my three black cats watched but didn't do anything, the raccoons went on their way after getting at a pizza box, no kitty's were harmed either.
@jenngriggs I don't know where you're getting this. Raccoons come at during the day all the time where I work. They hang around the feeding area at the Nature Center which is about 40 feet from the nearest trail... and I never hear of any rabid raccoon attacks.
@eatsleepmusic yeah, I guess in some cases this could be true. In my case, he raccoon was having a spaz problem every 15 to twenty minutes. It's an indication or side affect of parvolo.
i lived on a farm my mom put out catfood for the cats and soon we had about 6 raccoons at the back porch all of which became tame and i was able to literally pet all of them amazing animals
No, an animal with rabies wouldn't run away when approached, this animal did run away. Also there was no foaming of the mouth or strange sounds that it was making. It was rabies free.
My grandpa had a pet raccoon he took in after it's mother abandoned it. I have a picture of him in his uniform with it the day he returned home after WWII
@Sephiroth21682 they would also be possibly foaming at the mouth and walking around in a daze. this one is acting normal and it looks like this is early morning
@pintosncheezey I am a wildlife rehabber and you may actually see raccoons out in the daytime looking for food. We are diurnal but are out at night. Depending were you are in the country he may not be exposed to rabies.. There are unforuntely many diseases that mimic rabies, the biggest being canine distemper. Same symptoms, foaming out mouth, neuro signs, ect. I love raccoons too! They are one of my favorites :)
your correct houndogginmcbeatles a raccoon will also come up to humans if it is sick or hurt! I dont know why but they do! We had 3 babies and a mother grow up on our property and when the mother got killed on the road ,one of the 8 month old babies hurt its foot somehow and it started come up to us in the yard!
Usually when you see out during the day they're diseased. We use to find some on the farm like that and they had temper or w/e? So we ended up putting them down because the vet said they wouldn't live long.
@capvid88 It's important to note that not just one of these signs means it rabid, that's unlikely. I've seen plenty of raccoons out in day time hours. However it's just as important to realize that any raccoon you approach at -any- time of day is -still- a wild animal. There's no telling what diseases it's carrying and all it takes is a bite to find out first hand. Plus, wild raccoons are known to be carriers of several diseases. They're still cute as hell though :)
"You're the cutest little guy I've ever see- WHOA GETTING TOO CLOSE, BUDDY, GETTING TOO CLOSE!"
"where're you going?"
Raccoon: "Clearly running away from you"
I had a raccoon, I raised her since she was only a few months, with four others. I bottle fed her since I found her by the road with her dead mom and those babies were just squealing.. She would only come to me, and she wouldn't let anyone mess with me. She always made this sound of recognition when she saw me.. She would sleep with me.. She just loved pringles and roast beef.. I had a raccoon when I was younger that would let me pet it, but if my parents would come near it the raccoon would just hiss and growl at them.
I'm not sure if it would be called tame more than curious. Never the less, it is really cute. =]
He's so fluffy! If he weren't a wild animal I'd hug him
I'd risk it and give him a big ol smooch
Meaning "before the dog" or "dog like"
What if Raccoons aren't hostile animals? What if they're just very shy, and retort to your sudden actions with hostility?
I love how he acts all shy :3 with the back and forth movement
Now this is what I call quality content 🗿
I know I'm over 10 years late, but I hand fed a wild racoon in downtown San Fransico and I will never forget it.
I would love to hand feed a raccoon too!
" aww your the cutest lil buddy ive ever..WOAH GETTIN TO CLOSE BUDDY, GETTIN TOO CLOSE!!"
"awww. Your so cute. Come he..."
"growl *jumps*"
"OH MY GOD IT'S EATING MY FACE!"
🤣🤣
He's a real shy cutie, but be very careful--they can still attack you even if they seem friendly most of the time.
1. I have known (personally) 2 people who have kept raccoons as pets. My grandfather, and my driver when I was deployed in Iraq.
2. They are social animals. They live in social groups. I have actually seen them traveling in small packs, myself.
Thank you for your well-informed comment :P comment
Adorable how intrigued it was by this dude and his camera.
"I swear I wasn't eating your flowers. -Runs away-"
awww he's the cutest and most curious little raccoon i've ever seen
Aww he is soo cute!
I have an old, blind raccoon living under my porch...
Aw he is really adorable. With a sad & sweet face.
@allissaloire I'll give you that. They're definitely not domesticated and need to be shown respect as such.
"you are so cute you are the cutest little buddy i have ever seen" - so good
13 years ago....
R.I.P Mr Racoon 🙏
awww this is adorable. I especially like when u talk to him lol!
@Campbell042 Yeah, I don't know why people are so afraid of them. They're actually pretty harmless. Sure, they behave aggressively when cornered/trapped. But what wild animals doesn't?
hes so curious and afraid .-. but hes amazingly adorable !
Lol my neiborhood raccoon came to the back of my porch and he came pretty close too. He usually comes ever single night, and tonight, I fed him food so he can fatten up for the winter. Lol he was pretty cute.
racoons are so human. in the way they act. they're like mini adult toddlers.
Just the cutest things. Raccoons are so cute but we used to have a colony of them in the 2 willow trees in my backyards and lets just say they werent the nicest. you couldnt even go into the backyard after nightfall cause they would take over.
Tame implies that you've had it for some time and trained it, but in this video it seems like you're seeing this racoon for the first time.
That baby talking is as adorable as the raccoon.
I think their is a common thread of curiosity among many mammals, and every now and then it overrides our fear of the unknown.
Liver Flukes, Raccoon Round Worms, and Rabies, Oh My!
Just a few of the wonderful ailments you can catch from Raccoons.
I like how so many of the animal vids I come across always have a Pokemon reference as the top comment. XD With that said, that raccoon is adorable.
I've learned that when pet raccoons get older they become more aggressive, especially the males. That's why you gotta love those foxes! I've held a baby foxes, pet adults and they are so friendly! (No they were never wild, though the adults came off a fur farm)
My fave animal is totes a raccoon I have a lot of dolls, posters, clothing, and I have so very much in my backyard

Guy- "What should I call ya? What should I call ya? What should I call ya?"
Raccoon-"Call me Ishmael!"
it's like that commercial, here kitty kitty kitty, a raccoon walks in the door, ah, there you are
I just got a baby raccoon yesterday. Her and her brother were just sitting in the middle of the road, momma was no where to be found. But they're so adorable! (:

The raccoon is clearly scared of the human, but he's also really curious.
He poses no real threat unless you try to hurt him.

If you feed a raccoon, they tell all their many friends and then they all come hang out on your porch.
OMG WHAT A CUTE PUPPY! Jk. That raccoon is so cute
ha-ha! i love it. 5-stars!
be careful... them things are extremely fast with the warning bites! faster than cats!
I just LOVE that face!
I think the reason he is skeptical is because he's not sure what the camera is.
Not to mention unusually friendly for a wild raccoon! Of course, I wouldn't recomend getting too close to them.
Yeah, I still have her. My step brother has her brother.
Racoons are adorable I love them but mine is a handfull sometimes. >.<
Awh, that really sucks. :c They make really good pets but make sure you have a LOT of spare time. Lol
this one is really cute! Just like a little bear. Hope he still around you.
theyre cute and all, but man, they mean business when they go into fight mode... i wouldnt mess with em! lol
This is so adorable i don't even mind the rabies, i need one of these as a pet.
They are so loving I had 1 DAISY . FOR many years . She followed me everywhere. And slepted with me . Loved the kids too. They are sweet
he's so cute with his round little nose and his chubby, fluffy body xD
I suspect this little guy was hoping for a little snack.
I've never understood why people people persecute these creatures so relentlessly. Just about everyone I know in my area kills them on sight. They have never hurt me, my family, or my pets. I leave them alone and enjoy them each time I see them. Thanks for sharing and for caring!
sbenard1 They probably farmers, they destroy there crops and cause them tons of money. One things for sure ,there is no shortage of them.
Some babies can be real sweet! I had 3 in my yard a few years ago that would wait for me to bring them food every morning. They left and went their seperate ways when they were about a year old :)
i had a pet raccoon!!! her name was cookie. cuz that was her fav food, peanut butter cookies. lol. one night she came to the house, with five babies behind her

hahaha cute paws... it looks like it was wearing harem pants :p
какой хорошенький! смелый и любопытный ))

it's usually a good idea to corner a feral racoon
Wow! Someone on You Tube with a brain! You are a rare and wonderful person! Love those little clowns of nature
!
even tho this is a wild raccoon this one seems really friendly lol
I had a bottle of mountain dew and only a bit was left and I put it in the recycling bin two raccoons came and one got my bottle and was drinking from the puddle, my three black cats watched but didn't do anything, the raccoons went on their way after getting at a pizza box, no kitty's were harmed either.

GeneralCane Who say you got to hear about all of them to not happen? A lot stuff,I don't hear about doesn't mean it happens.
I think it's funny that everyone is like "Nothing messes with a raccoon.. Yea Something does.. My car.
this is the cutest thing ever.
I love raccoons they are the best ever
Those cutie pies are RELATED TO BEARS, which are also CUTIE PIES but ferocious. :)))
@eatsleepmusic yeah, I guess in some cases this could be true. In my case, he raccoon was having a spaz problem every 15 to twenty minutes. It's an indication or side affect of parvolo.
He's just the cutest little guy..
That's how cats did it,and look where it got them!
i lived on a farm my mom put out catfood for the cats and soon we had about 6 raccoons at the back porch all of which became tame and i was able to literally pet all of them amazing animals
I have petted a wild baby raccoon before. they are sooo soft!
Awww its too cute for words!
No, an animal with rabies wouldn't run away when approached, this animal did run away. Also there was no foaming of the mouth or strange sounds that it was making. It was rabies free.
haha so cute! i saw one last week wandering around in my neighborhood.
its so big! i was so scared!

Wow. That's amazing. Bet that was quite an awesome experience you've had. Just imagine if they were all that friendly and easy to pet?
It's not a very good sign when you see a wild raccoon out during the day time.
your correct houndogginmcbeatles a raccoon will also come up to humans if it is sick or hurt! I dont know why but they do! real tamed huh? "not too cose buddy, not too close" .. yeah, i'm really convinced
Usually when you see out during the day they're diseased. We use to find some on the farm like that and they had temper or w/e? So we ended up putting them down because the vet said they wouldn't live long.
My dad knew someone who would ride around on a Hover round-thing with A raccoon on his head!
He looks like a "Sniffles" ...I'm gonna regret opening my mouth aren't I?
@iCipher
True, if you corner a feral racoon, just slowly move your face towards it to give it nose kisses
front legs looks like its wearing fluffy pjamas
I think thats cool, and animals are smart, so unless you really ask for it their not going to hurt you :)
That guy was cute tho ^^ so curious
aww the raccoon is adorable :D
CUTE.... i would feed it so it comes back every day
@capvid88 It's important to note that not just one of these signs means it rabid, that's unlikely. I've seen plenty of raccoons out in day time hours.
