Looks very interesting and I love the music you chose. I think I recognize it but classically trained ear I do not have. My step grandmother gave me Swan Lake and I have love Tchaikovsky ever since. She bought some old thick records from the library I wish they hadn't gotten misplaced she's passed on but my love of classical music lives on because of her. My ears perk up and as you know classical just elevates your spirit. People either love it or can't stand it. I happen to love it.
Me, too, but this is a music sound library of contemporary musicians playing all styles of music of their original compositions. You probably recognize it because I've used it before, haha. Good for you for appreciating classical!!
I just planted 12 pineapple guava bushes, and they are different varieties for different flavors. I’m looking for ways to market them for our farm. Your chutney recipe is perfect! Thank you so much for the details and beautiful filming, and your joyful personality!
Wow Kaye you are using thirteen different ingredients in your Pineaple Guave Chutney. I can only imagine the rich smell. It's a marvelous cooking video. Kindest regards Patrick
I love that you said picking up Easter eggs. That’s exactly when they’re ready here in Australia. I am a New Zealander (Maori) & we do LOVE our feijoas ❤️ best Easter eggs ever! Love chutney so definitely going to try this. Thank you 🙏
Awesome! Yes, if you've been watching, I planted these trees in ground July 2014. I had a few guavas in '15, and quite a lot in '16 and the mother lode this year. If that helps. Here's how the parkway looked when I planted it. ua-cam.com/video/Jmyq57hlI6w/v-deo.html
The park where I walk my dogs has several pink guava trees...In the summer I often grab a couple as i go past...really sweet...there is also an avocado tree...but that gets raided very quickly...
Yes, I might be persuaded to take an avocado... :) I also have a Mexican pink guava tree which is producing now. Not huge amounts but if I figure out something to make with it, I'll do a video. Its very different texture from the pineapple guava, and it seems you eat the skin, but there are seeds inside.
That looks yummy Kaye. I have a young Feijoa tree and I look forward to making some chutney in the near future. I will practice making them with pears. Thanks for sharing your recipe :)
I've never tasted a guava in my life. i wasn't sure if i'd like this recipe but you had me by the end. looks yum. I'm a huge mango chutney fan but have never made chutney. You sure made it look easy! nice lighting in your video btw. :)
You know, you really have brush up against it. It's not that noticeable until you touch it, but yeah, it's also a deer deterrent. :) We just hoisted it back up on Thursday. The winds beat it down.
Great video Kaye. I love feijoas but they only fruit for such a short time here. But when they do - boy it is abundant! I like to make wine and jam with them and we like to eat as many as we can before the season runs out. They also dehydrate well for winter snacks. I find it is easier to peel them with a potato peeler, it is quicker and less messy. I've never made chutney with them so will have to give that a go next season. Cheers Sarah : o)
Thank you, Sarah! I did read this when it came in, and got behind on replying. I made a valiant effort to create a ton of videos since I returned from my travels (would love to visit NZ and AUS someday, came close this year) to boost my subscribers, but it hasn't had the BIG effect I was hoping for. So, I'm going to go back to a more relaxed schedule in the new year. I still think of you often, and glad you watch! I can't wait to see how things develop on your new property. If that is the view (that I saw in the insta), I'm green with envy!
Gosh I know what you mean - I've just spent an age doing my replying! If you do come to NZ you will always be welcome to come and stay with us. The new project is very exciting - I can hardly wait! Merry Christmas! : o)
First time I hear of pineapple guava.. We have guavas hear in Trinidad but its not like that....I would love to see that through... Great video BTW.....
Kaye Kittrell | Late Bloomer Urban Organic Garden Show - its been done since the drought, plus person who planted it before my parents moved in never took care of it. My dad did but he gotten too old. So we are removing it when it start raining, soft ground, & next spring I'm planting a Meyer lemon tree in its place
Better chance of fruit with different varieties to cross pollinate. Might need to use a brush to hand pollinate if no natural means available, it would be worth it, they taste wonderful. Pity Ireland is too cold for them to fruit.
Wow!! The Chutney looks insanely delicious !! I'm entirely new to Pineapple Guava , Do you eat it raw like regular guava ? Also, you've a jungle of Pinapple Guava there ;D . Thanks Kaye, Your recipes were not complicated aswell. Kind Regards, Shalbin

I know, I kept loading it up, but the red bits really give it color and nutrition. Wish I could send you some.

Glad you mention what they can be compared to as far as taste, I had always wondered. The end product looks absolutely tasty! 😋
Well, it's more compared to texture than flavor, the flavor is definitely different from pears.

Kaye Kittrell | Late Bloomer Urban Organic Garden Show ah I see. Thank you so much for the clarification 😊
I planted two pineapple guavas this Spring. Can't wait to get fruit off our trees! May be another year though. Love the recipe! Thank you!

Looks so good. I like the way you include the different spices to it. As for the name, I will respond to your request privately.
Sure. Thanks!
In New Zealand the feijoa is pronounced fee joe ar. Feejoea spoken quickly
Hm, I thought that's what I said, haha. I sure do miss being able to grow tropical fruit outdoors!
@@Latebloomershowits feijoa season for us now, heaps falling to the ground. ive made feijoa jam and currently boiling quince.
only one question, how long am i gonna have to wait to finally harvest guavas !
Well, your video was from summer 2016, right? Did it bloom this year? I'd say another year.
the ca native pitcher sage along your sidewalk must smell devine for people walking by

Hi Kaye ...I’m a new here Love to see your vdos.
First time I hear of pineapple guava.. We have guavas hear in Trinidad but its not like that....I would love to see that through... Great video BTW.....
Wow awesome I remember when your neighbor made pepper guava. Was wondering if our doing a seed give away?
What kind of seeds?
I have never eaten any type of chutney. It looks good.
Well, it does have sugar, so I'm not sure you should start now. It IS so good...
Killjoy!
Sorry! Just thinking if you can't eat that fab jelly you sent, you might have a problem with the sugar.
I am just giving you a bad time.
Haha, I know. :)
This particular plant originated in South America. The natives there still eat it today.
My pineapple guava tree flowered but never produced furit 😭 it is 40+ years old. Going to try this with pears, looks yummy. 😋
40 years, hmmm, it might be done. I don't know. Fruit trees don't produce forever. Did you have lots of bees when it was blooming?

You will get more use out of that. Make sure it is an ever bearing tree.
