I'm a sr. art director working in Minneapolis, MN, USA. I have a copy of this tome sitting on my desk along with a Lego™ bird's nest and a model of a Dutch commuter bicycle. I attempt to read a page each day before beginning work. I'm going to gift my children each one of these books. Love it.

This is a very outstanding book! I'm very blessed to have bought it when I saw it at a local bookstore. Very fantastic book! This will delight lovers of art, language, literature, linguistics, writing and design.

Best book I've ever owned. If you are in doubt, don't think and buy it.

A fascinating book - essential for anyone interested in and those that work in graphic design - remember we all think in pictures and not words!

In 1993 Fletcher joined Phaidon Press as art director. It took him 18 years to compile this book.
