Michael had and did it all. Wonderful vocalist, amazing dancer, marvelous songwriter, breathtakingly magical performer, great humanitarian, global superstar. The Beatles and Elvis and anybody else for that matter never achieved all of that. No one ever will. That's a once in a lifetime phenomenon! A true gift from God!

I agree. It seems like the Beatles and Elvis are considered more "culturally relevant" than Michael. I loved both until I discovered Michael Jackson (yes, later in life) and then I saw how his talent and overall greatness supposed the other two, The Beatles were basically good songwriters. Elvis had a good voice and sexy hip moving. Michael had it all! I think eventually history will see the light!

"The warrior of light behaves like a child. People are shocked; they have forgotten that a child needs to have fun and to play, to be slightly irreverent and to ask awkward, childish questions, to talk nonsense that not even he believes in. And they say, horrified: 'So this is the spiritual path, is it? He's so immature!'The warrior feels proud of such comments. And he remains in touch with God through his innocence and his joy, without ever losing sight of his mission" Paulo Coelho

Thank you gentlemen for this brilliant conversation.Michael Jackson had so much hindsight about the world and indeed there was and still is so much depth in his music and lyrics. He was so well versed into Fine Arts and sadly could not talk about it as it would have sounded arrogant I just wish he had been allowed to have a life for himself.... Michael is my daily soundtrack I must say.....I truly miss him and love him so very much.
Rest in peace , beautiful soul.

Absolutely. Look at the singer "Seal". He has discoid lupus that was untreated. Michael had it around one side of his nose and near his eyes. Imagine making a living by your face and it becomes disfigured and a bad surgeon makes it worse AND you have vitiligo which causes other issues. Did no one in the media ever feel sorry for this amazing man? Soulless, is what i call people. NO SOUL. There will never ever be anyone like him again. Today's artists are so mediocre. Sad.

How sad is it that true genius brings out so many haters. I have always felt that the media bashing of Michael had to do with jealousy of his success and the level of his fame. Also, throw in a bit of racism. So sad. How often does the world experience a gift such as Michael Jackson? Only once. Michael himself.

Yea, the critics seemed to get off on critiquing Michael for not staying as the same 23 year old. He grew as an artist and I think it's so cool that his fans can compare the wobbly moonwalk of 'Motown 25' to the stunning fluidity of 'Dangerous MTV 1995'. PS His supporters were with him 100%, 20 million copies for a $45 double disc is no joke. I personally believe his artistic peak was '94-'96 rather than the usual '84. He reached his fame peak at 1997 when he became more familiar than the Pope.

I just read "Man in the Music" by Joseph Vogel. WOW is all I can say. It gives you the entire catalog of his music and what was going on in his life during those time that inspired the music (many he wrote or co-wrote). Genius is not adequate to describe him. A highly entertaining and educational book. My God, his songs were sublime and inspirational and full of mmessages. We must ask radio stations to play his music not the usual but "Stranger in Moscow"; "We've had enough".

Songwriter Hall of Fame, Dance Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, the most awarded man in history, Guinness Book of World Records Most Successful Entertainer, sold more records as an active artist than Elvis and the Beatles. MJ was the total package and a genius (his essays should be released). I stopped reading critiques of MJ's work after they all pretended to have predicted Thriller's success when records show they all though it was just another black guy with a disco album. Wrong.

I absolutely agree with you on HIStory. That album is an underrated gem. You'll have a lot of critics dismissing it since it was a double disc album, yet that's the point. It's suppose to contrast. It's suppose to show you how Michael changed due to what he had to go through during his life. The hope of Off the Wall/Thriller have been replaced by sadness & confusion due to the unjust nature of events surrounding his life. Personally, I like Bad, yet I wish it had been a double/triple disc album.

I wish Michael had taken more risks with Bad, yet I think Quincy Jones wanted him to play it safe on the album and that's the reason why many critics call it derivative of Thriller.

I also just heard the unreleased demo on Bad25 "Abortion Papers" and "Free" and "Price of Fame", "Streetwalker"; "Speed Demon". Sadly, critics trivialize his music and contributions to the musical industry when he WAS the industry. There is a lot of envy and hatred out there in this cruel world. It is our duty to spread the word and have his music play in clubs and on radio stations. If enough fans ask for it...it will happen. If not, his music will fade away.

Really? I've always considered Bad to be the album where Michael truly discovered himself as a songwriter and composer. It was a step towards the independence that led to 'Dangerous'. It's strange critics called it derivative since they compared everything after Thriller to Thriller. In my opinion, his greatest album was HIStory. It was very inspired- 'Earth Song'/'Little Susie' are nothing short of masterful showpieces. Only Michael can put waltz, opera, and hip-hop on one disc. Fearless.
