The remark about the ridiculous prices of bourbon is pretty correct, but to be honest we need to highlight that we face the same madness around Springbank too. At the moment only Springbank 10 stays relatively affordable, but anything else by Springbank is ridiculously priced. Local Barley, 10YO sherry cask, 12YO cask strength, everything is 400+ Euro. They're all amazing, but 70% of the price is paid for the hype.
Ralfy, You've brought me a lot of enjoyment and education over the years. I'm currently not on your Patreon Channel, however, I'm going over to check it out. Thanks for your continued commitment to brand neutrality, and speaking it like it is. Many of us, I'm certain, are appreciative.
Although my wife and I just completed a 3-week holiday in Scotland and I saw more bottles of Blanton's "Gold" bourbon than I've ever seen here at home in the states. Although, I now realize the the Gold edition is also an international edition. Mea cupla.
I live just a few hrs from the heart of bourbon country and it's so difficult to get any of the really quality stuff without going on a serious hunt and paying ridiculous prices.. I switch to scotch years ago for that reason. Nobody is chasing scotch here. 🧡
100%, even here in the US bourbon is way overpriced compared to the age and quality. I refuse to buy it for anything but mixers anymore.

Ralfy - completely agree on the marketing aspect. Thank you for recommending Glen Scotia double cask. I bought one the day before your review, drank along side with it, and was honestly shocked at what I got for the $45 US I paid. Great value for money.

Living in the North East USA, Maine it’s really hard to find good bourbon at a good price. Seems to be easing up a little now…
But a bottle of say Blantons , which is a 60-70 bottle sells for 100.00- 150 on the Mail Service internet companies..
Then again it’s a Costo now!! By chance..Probably 50 bucks.. lol

But apart I do find Scotch to be more interesting... spirit is not burried und er loads oft oak&vanilla notes.

Bourbon is, even in the US, more expensive for the age and quality than what I see imported scotch. It’s ridiculous, and has ruined the reputation of bourbon in my mind. It’s a drink for hipsters to throw over ice while they virtue signal online on TikTok
