    I left the service many years ago. This does my heart good. Former firefighter age 68.

    Pressure was on, casualty at the window, great rescue, awkward pitch with cars in the way, ladder heel positioned perfectly, that's where the training comes in.

    Absolutely awesome job, hats off to the fire service, cool calm and collected.

      A little too calm in my opinion, person is up there breathing in all of that toxic smoke, pace needing picking up a little. Also, as fire engine drivers, we are taught to go past the incident so that you can slip the 13.5 ladder off in front of the building on fire, meaning minimal travel distance to its place of deployment. Also, they carried out a confined pitch, a very tough ladder pitch with the 13.5, but started turning the ladder the wrong way, wasting time. Might seem minor, but that’s why we do it and train like we do, so when the chips are down, seconds save lives! That person has been breathing in lung fulls of toxic smoke for some time, this can be fatal even after rescue.
      A good job of course, got the rescue done, but a bit of training required.

      @@thesuffolksausage208 also seems like first crew weren't BA ready. Firefighter that went up the ladder didn't have BA on, good job they didn't need to go inside.

      My thoughts exactly, my friend..., and I’m not even a bloody firefighter!

      @@daftendirekt97849 ..... isn’t that because these newer fire engines don’t carry the BA inside the crew cab any more? I think instead they are stowed in the narrow lockers between the rear crew cab and the first roller shutters on the rig’s rear bodywork. So the fire firefighters have to get out to put them on. Could be wrong. If I’m right though then it’s absolutely ridiculous. I believe it’s the health & safety gestapo’s solution to prevent firefighters donning their BA sets while the vehicle is moving, which means they’re not wearing a seatbelt. Fire service ruling now states that all firefighters (apart from the driver) should be fully kitted up in their bunker gear, with their seatbelts on, before the appliance even pulls out of the station!!! It’s utterly pathetic. But I’m heartened to see on UA-cam that many crews ignore this ridiculous ‘nanny-state’ ruling, even if it does mean exposure on this site could result in disciplinary action being taken against them, and even prosecution.

      @@thesuffolksausage208 looks like an absolutely brilliant job by a single crew arriving first to a pretty high pressure incident, agree that ideally you want to park the machine beyond the incident slightly but seems the driver has parked there due to other parked vehicles to allow space for the BA set lockers to be opened, ladder was up within 60secs of arrival, absolutely superb in my opinion, seems like you haven't put up many ladders away from the nice open, flat drill square.......rarely does it look pretty in the real world, these guys did a brilliant job.

    I’ve seen a fire like this in a very old building. No one was hurt but I can’t forget the eerie sights and sounds.

    Here in Italy we have just had an incident where two firefighters died whilst trying to save a disabled person from a farm in a wildfire. Absolute respect to all those who willingly risk their lives to save others.

    Does having the b.a outside the cab not add valuable time to fire rescue?

  • @firey9998
    @firey9998 Рік тому +6

    This is why BA sets should be kept in the cab.

      Unfortunately b a set's are nou on the pump. Not allowed to carry them in the cab when time matters this is completely wrong. As a retired pump driver the crew s don't want this, when we had them in the cab you put them on right away when people are reported as in this video,

      As a retired fire man. People reported in you go. As the B.A is no longer in the cab of the pump.
      And now on the out side of the pump. It takes, 2 minutes to get it out and put it on .People can die.
      If you can save that person. You will. No matter
