Florida is known for it's sugar white sandy beaches. I've been to California. There's only 10 beaches with white sand in California. Florida's known in the world for having sugar white beaches. Pensacola,Fl has sugary white beaches. We are home to the Blue Angels. We are on the panhandle.
The reason we don't have sandy beaches because the living coral reef Blocks more than 50% of any waves cutting them in half so we don't have a big enough surf to carry the sand into the beaches. BTW: Bahia Honda is not on Big Pine Key It's called Bahia Honda Park because its on Bahia Honda Key. BTW; We have Beautiful Big sand bars to hang out on just off shore. Some can even be seen from the A1A if you look out to the South on weekends you will see 20 boats grouped op on sand bars having parties. Going out to many of the island many of them have nice long sandy beaches but most tourist don't go where Local Conchs go to have fun.
Unironically, the best beaches in Florida tend to be in north west Florida if you just want a nice white sandy beach without that freezing cold water you get from the ocean side beaches. Just go and google Pensacola beach and see for yourself. Thats generally what people think of when they think Florida beaches. The ones in the Keys are nice for a different reason, in the fact that its an amazing place to go snorkeling or diving, but the coral and rock isnt generally what people want.
