What Happened to Perry's 911? The Commission created a CRISIS - they BLAME PSAPs - what IS a PSAP?

- Perry County Missouri currently has an effective and responsive 911 call center - we’ve had that since the beginning of the concept of 911 that began in the 1980s - we've always paid the bills, until now
So what’s the problem now?
Why is it that all of a sudden we can’t afford to pay for 911?
The “financial crisis” that’s being presented as the root of the problem is having to spend a ton of money to “combine” the City and County PSAPs (public safety answering points)
And that if we don’t come up with the "EXTRA" money to “combine” the two PSAPs, then we will have no choice other than to pay Alan Wells and St Francios County to control our 911
This idea is absolute nonsense
Perry County has ONE 911 PSAP
And that PSAP is located at the Perry County Sheriff’s Department
If a 911 emergency call is made in Perry County, it will be routed via AT&T’s technologies and their 911 ROUTING SWITCH to the one and only PSAP in Perry, and that’s the Sheriff
If it’s a City matter, the Sheriff then contacts the City Dispatch via cellphone, text, email and or radio
Perry County has TWO “dispatches” but only ONE PSAP
So the NEED to “combine” the two PSAPs is bogus, and we DO NOT need to do that
The technologies and equipment that we have now are getting the job done, let us just simply move our current equipment and technology into the new Joint Justice Center
"CRISIS" resolved - it's just not that complicated, it's common sense
