@@SomecallmeJohnny Nice review, Johnny 😉👍.
BTW, do you take requests or maybe a Request Marathon?
@@SomecallmeJohnny How about another Mega man marathon ?
The circle is now complete. Johnny is covering Onimusha.
When Johnny left Samanosuke, Johnny was but the learner, now he is the master!

Since he covered Onimusha, he is now more powerful than you could possibly imagine.
Man. One of my all time favorite series! A classic!
I've waited years for this moment!
Long time fan of the channel. I finally subscribed, AND hit the bell because this is the game/series I've always wanted you to cover. And I didn't want to put the unfair time sink of a FF marathon on your head😅
Edit: oh, wait he IS doing a FF marathon... HOORAY!
It’s finally time. Real talk, thanks for getting me into this series Johnny! After seeing a few parts of the SGB playthrough and your spotlight video on it, I bought the game last year and played through it 3 times in a row. Though short, this game is so fun to just relax and play. I just wish 2-4 would get rereleased as well. I would get the PS2 versions, but my PS3 is gone after YLOD-ing 3 times. Anyway, can’t wait to watch the video!
I still have my PS2 copy that was given to me by my relative and haven't touched it in 10 years. I would try it but my PS3 is close to dying as well. It doesn't even last an hour before shutting down.
Like Akihiko Sanada usually says before an All-Out Attack in Persona 3, I’ve been waiting for this!
Belated b-day gift. A Somecallmejohnny review.
Speaking of Capcom games, is the Resident Evil marathon coming back anytime soon? Don't get me wrong, I voted to let Johnny take a break from those games, (I don't mind if he outright says he might not come back to them for years), but I'm just curious. Especially with RE8 in developement. And the RE influence in this is bringing me back memories of those games. Also wow, he's finally doing this after mentioning it for so long.
The plan (as of now) is to head back to Resident Evil when RE8 is close to launch.
@@SomecallmeJohnny Thanks for clearing that up. I look forward to whatever lies in store.
@@SomecallmeJohnny Also another thing. Consider yourself lucky you actually got a physical copy of DQ5 on DS. Those things can sell for hundreds on eBay. This is why I'm glad emulators exist.
@@SomecallmeJohnny It is sad that did not happen, but the hectic schedule is probably why.
I'll admit the only Onimusha game I ever really played was Blade Warriors aka Samonosuke Smash Bros. but you definitely made me wanna try it out. Especially knowing there's a tiny creepy geisha doll Nemesis running around. It is kind of a shame that didn't make it into the PS4 version for sure.
Onimusha and now a Dragon Quest game? Johnny is just going through his checklist for 2021 now.
This is not the Final Fantasy marathon ?!?
It's something even better.
Tales series? ( sarcasm ) 😁
Who here had one of the many invinsibility themes they used in the lets play in their head when he showed the green soul oni mode?
Oh man Dragon Quest, Squares best and yet most underrated RPG series (in the west at least). V was an emotional journey.
One of my favorite franchises of all time! I can play this series anytime ( even Blade Warriors & Tactics) and never gets old. Really cool to see the old PS1 teaser footage for what could have been Onimusha Warlords on PS1. I remember playing a game similar to Onimusha called Soul of the Samurai made by Konami, have you played it? It’s not on par with Onimusha, but it’s a interesting run.
The three types of soul sound reminiscent to Eternal Darkness
I can't wait for u to review one of my favorite franchise of all time. Final Fanta..... Wait a minute. 😲
I've never actually seen what these games looked like and not gonna lie, i'm kinda interested in trying it out now, might buy the PS4 port.
Onimusha is also on Switch
In regards to the English names, the developers for Onimusha seem to love Hamlet the same way the developers for Devil May Cry love The Divine Comedy.
wait whu-wha-FINAL FANTASY MARATHON IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING?!
Confirmed we now live in the best timeline
Hah sure...Johnny is covering onimusha...Oh my god his actually doing it😨
Streets been waiting on this one 🔥
Johnny confirmed having a Hemipenis
Been a long time coming
Damn Johnny, you've lost so much weight! You look amazing!
28:07 GODDAMNIT TED!!
3:45 Please do! Dino Crisis 1 and 2 are excellent! You can skip 3 though.
Dino Crisis was the first rated M game I ever played. I believe I was 8 or 9 and my uncle let me play it at his house.
"It's about time" -Neo Cortex
25:10 the cute nemesis
Surprised he didn't now it but a new onions ha game leaked during the capcom hack
About Time Johnny
About damn time
I'd like a remake of Onimusha and dino crisis. Two if my favorite childhood games.
It's about time.
Ah finally, Devil May Cry in Feudal Japan.
can u do the whole dead space series ?
Hey man, I was just wondering when you were going to start giving your SGB videos the VS treatment again? I’m really looking forward to seeing those
Me thinking its Final Fantasy: I've waited so long for this!
Me finding that its Onimusha: Of all the times
The title literally says onimusha..
This is way too late but it's worth noting: it isn't a case of Samuragochi plagiarizing Niigaki, rather the two were working together for almost 20 years. Samuragochi would play up how extensive his deafness was for the "mystique", while Niigaki wrote the actual music.
This all came to light because (and I imagine the music in Onimusha was replaced for the same reason) someone noticed a suspicious amount of similarities between Niigaki's Hiroshima Symphony No. 1 and lesser-known works of 20th-century composer Gustav Mahler, and Samuragochi and Niigaki spilled the beans on the whole scheme while admitting the similarities were intentional.
In short: Samuragochi was just a fabrication, and in fact Niigaki was the one who plagiarized work. So his Onimusha score is now scrubbed from the ledger, and we'll never have to suffer the Dualshock Edition Basement Theme ever again.
If you don't know who Jean Reno is then ......go away.
YES!
i was wondering johnny would you plan on doing a donators marathon anytime soon there is a 3d beat them up game called fighting force i would like to donate see you review
This game is kind of funny to me, it's one of those where I LOVE the music, like, I know it all by heart... but I never touched the game itself. And with those music shenanigans, I'll never get to experience the OST in-game, emulators aside. :(
I love rewatching the SGB LP, I like how "quiet" it is, if that makes any sense.
will you ever do the DMC series john?
@somecallmeJohnny Tah-Koo-Etch-E
Watching this after playing Nioh 2 and seeing their versions of Nobunaga and Tokichiro/Hideyoshi with demons and shit is weird
My life is complete
Johnny I think one game u should get is for Horno buddy it's like dks but as a fighting game the mp modes are fun you can get it cheap :D
Onimusha 2 was my favorite. It just felt more complete. Onimusha 3 was not bad gameplay wise but I did not care for the setting.
Also what are you doing good marathon for final fantasy 7 Make sure to do a disclaimer on the story so people won’t get spoiled
.....and then there's Sakurai who blatantly spoiled most of the game's ending through the latest Smash Stage, and Sephiroth's Final Smash. His excuse?
The game's been out for 20 years, everyone's played it at some point.
Imagine caring about that game's lackluster story 20 years after the fact. jesus christ get over it aerith dies, cloud has false fucking memories or whatever and sephiroth is a weeb
Why that one specifically?
@@SmashSSL because everyone sucks that game off even though it isn't that great
What is the name of This music on 11:06?
So I can find it.
How long do we think the ff series will be?
28:07 What if every time you reached for a Final Fantasy game it turned into a Dragon Quest game.
There's a channel called "How To Drink", which goes over recipes for various alcoholic beverages. The intro for the older videos would show clips of preparing the drink that was going to be featured for that particular video, but the final bit of the intro that had the name of the show was always the same shot of an old-fashioned.
My favorite comment I ever saw on one of those videos claimed that watching the intros for the various episodes showed the sad tale of a cursed bartender, doomed to have every single cocktail and beverage he ever made turn into an old-fashioned before he could drink it.
Ted would be happy...
You’d have a better experience :P
I'm more a dragon quest guy so honestly I wouldn't have an issue.
I hope Johnny loves this game especially since it is Dragon Quest 5, arguably one of if not the best game of the series.

I rememeber when Johnny said maybe one day back in like 2012-2013 he would review the Onimusha series. Well if we know one thing about Johnny is that even if it takes forever, he does eventually get to it haha.
@King Slayer That should be simple. RE 5 and 6 were dogshit so he can sum those up in 10 minutes. And then he can review 7 in its entirety lol
The Eason Is badass.
@@SycoticForeverNeverAF nice bait comment. Lol
Fun fact: The composer was deaf
Until he admitted to faking it.
Was it the same guy who did original Resident Evil's soundtrack and later admitted he was not deaf?
lol what did he do to fake it?
did he go around saying "huh" or "what" to fake it
Huh?

What?
He mentioned Ghosts of Tushima he has to review it now
Fun fact: Yusaku Matsuda was the inspiration for One Piece's "Admiral Aokiji" appearance too
*Aokiji. but yeah he was the first thing that sprung to mind when i saw Matsuda
@@dey6942 lol I didn't noticed the typo, I was so focused in trying to type Matsuda right
OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THAT
His appearance also reminds me of Jigen from Lupin III, so I wonder if that was another reference to Matsuda.
Thanks for mentioning that so I don't have to. I always think of Kuzan whenever I see Matsuda.
I'm surprised I'm not the only one that fell in love with a random game because we got the wrong game a gift and had nothing better to play
Johnny finally covering Onimusha: This is where the fun begins.
Oh, I have a good feeling about this.
There's always a bigger fish
Had to wait for the Nioh/Sekiro comparison vids to die down...
Hey were did you find that profile picture. It looks like Mark Bagleys art if I am not mistaken.
I think the reason for the narrator informing people about Hideyoshi is that, back then, it was apparently common to change your name to reflect higher status, so Hideyoshi would've referred to himself by that name at the time, but unless you are a diehard fan of Sengoku history to memorize who was called what by then, you never would know that that was Hideyoshi, whereas even passive fans of the time know who Toyotomi Hideyoshi is.
As a matter of fact, I believe Hideyoshi changed his name (or had it changed by superiors) at least 3 times.
He started as the lowest class (maybe slave, can't remember) in Japan but eventually became emperor, so he had many names.
@@LeNoir679 Strictly speaking, he became Shogun. The emperor at that time was Ogimachi or Go-Yozei, depending on when in Hideyoshi's reign you're talking about.
2021: The year Johnny finally reviews Onimusha.
Ted is an unavoidable obstacle within every UA-camr's path to an FF marathon.
To be fair DQ V is better than most FF games
Well Dragon Quest is the grand father of all JRPGs, so it's probably why Ted reminds us about the series
FF is more popular internationally
But Dragon Quest deserves more respect
@@monster25man It is the game series that started it all. The one set the foundation for JRPGs while improving what made western RPGs like Wizardy and Ultima so popular while improving it.
It’s always great to watch a new Johnny episode.
Mr Person Yep.
true!
You got that right, similarly named guy!
Dread it. Run from it.
Dragon Quest arrives all the same.
And Dragon Quest 5 too. That is practically one of the best games of the series. Really hope Johnny loves it. It was also the JRPG that would inspire many new conventions of the genre such as monster collecting and marriage options.
@@toledochristianmatthew9919 John's already played the first DQ, and he apparently owns 11 (also gifted by Ted)... we shall convert him by the end of the year.
@@LoneOtaku158 It would be nice if he did both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest since both of these series were what led to JRPGs becoming such a big hit and are linked to each other that would later form Square Enix.
@@toledochristianmatthew9919 god i can't even imagine how much of a jrpg burnout that would cause him.
@@shineon9715 Oh right.... then maybe he should do Dragon Quest after FF then. Final Fantasy is already a hell of a marathon to complete.
7:57 I sort of know Jean Reno so................I'm not going away!
Ok, one thing about those Kaede sections: get close to a monster, lock-on, then double-tap the direction towards the monster (up on the D-pad in vanilla), Kaede will vault over and land behind the enemy. Now, as a Kunoichi, Kaede can instantly kill an enemy if you attack from behind (with a special animation). Once I learned to do this vault-and-assassinate move reliably, her sections became my favorite parts of the game. Highly recommended if anyone hasn’t tried it.
I always loved playing as Kaede so much. I snagged Blade Warriors immediately when I saw she was playable.
Sonic Shuffle: I still want to be reviewed by Johnny, I've waited for too long.
Me: And you still will be if you don't keep your mouth shut.

Fun story, there was a glitch during Onimusha’s development where you could juggle the enemies by constantly fighting. After seeing this glitch, Hideki Kamiya thought it was cool and basically designed Devil May Cry’s combat around that idea.
