Since the “young millionaires” on YT have started boasting about how easy it is to make money using drop shipping, many such scammy websites have emerged. They think they are hustling. Even many Etsy shops simply show their shop addresses in Europe, but drop-ship items from Temu/Alibaba. I have stopped using Etsy for this reason and it hurts real small businesses.
I don't use Etsy much, but I was looking for stained glass the other day (just curious because I make stained glass and thinking of selling some on Etsy) and was floored by how much absolute CR@P came up for sale. Stuff that wasn't stained glass but just mass-produced plastic junk. There were listings that were legitimate and you could tell from the pics they were unique pieces for sale. You could usually spot them by the price (~$300 USD) and lots of pics from different angles. But I'd also worry that at that price it would attract scammers that just steal images and pretend to sell stuff and never deliver, like this video.

Before shopping anywhere - always check the Impressum / About Us section. Only buy if you see the correct legal information - a company address and tax registry number. If you only see random, irrelevant gibberish and only some suspicious telephone number or e-mail (in many cases not even that) - you know it's a scam.
Best to check some reviews, this will quickly get an idea if something is going on. Alternatively, if you find an address, use Google Street view to check if there is indeed a physical office or warehouse there, _with the name of this business/website_, or that is a fake address. And yes, I've fallen for dropshippers too. So far they delivered, but sometimes after 2-3 months. 6 months is clearly fake. If you don't want to go to the process of making a legal complaint, do make sure to dispute the payment with your bank provider. If you used a credit card, you have a good chance to get a refund. For a bank less likely. If you paid by some online bank, like Paypal, never mind. You lost your money in that case.

Had a site guarantee a response in 24 hours ... after two days waiting I complained, and they then explained that their 'in 24 hours' was really 3 days - of 8 business hours each!!!

How about getting the credit card company to reverse the charges? Then file a complaint with whatever commerce dept your country has. A scam is a scam.
But when buying online in EU, you have cancellation rights.. and if an order is indefinitely delayed, then cancel it. Also, shops aren't allowed to take your money before shipping the item.
Yes, but these are Fakeshops that just take the money and even Banks can't get the money back. There are millions of these sites run buy Asian (mostly chinese) scammers
That's not quite true. You're entitled to a refund if the products is not delivered within the agreed timeframe, or 30 days if no timeframe was specified - the terms set the timeframe so there's no recourse. Also shops are allowed to take your money before shipping the item, but there are protections - like if the shop takes payment upfront, they are obligated to deliver the item within the promised timeframe. - again the timeframe is set in the terms so there's no recourse.
Idk if this is something else. But there are a lot of sites where the original site had a good traction and ranked high on google. The Site goes offline, the domain is open again and scammers buy these domains with high ranking and keep the legal information the same (they use wayback machine to get the info) and scam there. The original holders then dont know anything abt this. These scams are really popular rn and honestly i think the same group of people that run these are behind the ddos attacks on the wayback machine because this is an easy verify to that. (I mean yeah the guy you called could be a scammer, but its very likely he actually doesnt know what youre talking abt)
the Godfather Trilogy, someone asked Vito Corleone how he intended to change a person’s viewpoint. He responded, “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
1:35 Janek, you should check PPPeter from Slovakia, his series from China. He showed these "shopping galleries" in China. You simply order big amount of any product and they will create it in China and deliver to your destination in next months. So you can buy stuff worth 2€ of production and sell it for 20€ for example, but u must meet certain conditions such as minimum amount of products per order. Yes, these products are from China and that's how it works. It seems, this backpack wasn't in storage and they had to make a new order and yes, it can take up to a year to get your goods. Imagine how much of those "souvenirs" in Prague you see on every corner are from China worth 0.50€ of production, that are sold to tourists for a few €. This is business :D @edit: It's not dropshipping, it's similar, but it's something else.
If the shops is too cheap or suspicious - always call the contact number!! Scammers copy the adress and all informations of legit companys nowadays on their fake shops, you have to call the phone number in the contact or the "impressum" - usually it dont work and you know its a scam, otherwise its easy to put stolen informations in the about section or legal / impressum
Consider that VISA recently had opinions on restricting where people can buy in Japan when it comes to manga etc, but at the same time they are of course completely ok with all the scammers only using their service.
Most of these websites that appear to be in EU, UK or US do list a business address in Shenzhen, China somewhere on the website. The usual first clue on the home page is the selection box for which currency and language you want the site to display. Just like on Ali Express, it's an indicator that most of their business is international, and that often means you're buying something drop shipped direct from China. I would say it's obvious, but the rest of the website often looks very nation specific e.g. a site called "Laptops UK" that might have UK flags on every thumbnail to imply that it's UK stock.
Hey, why don't you make a gallery and just put a name and an adresse in Plzen on it... no doxing, no thread, no data security violation - just a name gallery
each image a single word or number, with no connection to reality or random connections... Something like: [Butter] [Jan] [Weather] [Rubeš] [Prague] [dark-blue]
This is a widespread problem. The shops often have simple names such as "somethingshop", and barely have any identifying details on their website. They're not hard to spot, but it does require that customers read their terms of service and other related info before making an impulse purchase.
The website proudly claims, "Dispatch within 24 hours We ship the goods immediately" It's therefore reasonable to expect the goods within a reasonable time frame. So from a UK perspective, it would be unreasonable to wait for a year. The company would have to refund or providing you paid with a credit card, you could claim a chargeback from the card issuer.
Trustpilot and Reddit are your best friends while online shopping. I often order motorcycle gear by browsing the cheapest listings on google. I do 10-15 mins of research on the shop and have never been scammed yet.
So they're basically collecting orders for certain item. And only after that threshold is reached at their supplier in Cina / India or whereever then they order wholesale for a fraction of the price per unit. If they're smart the supplier even takes over the shipping and processing for them and they still make money.
I still dont understand the business model of that though. How do they make more money than a legitimate shop? If temu can bring it from China super cheap in like a month that means that shipping it in a month wont cost them much more than shipping them in a year. So how exactly do these galleries save cost by shipping them so slowly?
Sadly I got caught at similar "Shopping galery". I wanted a sailormoon cap with moon sickle on it and searched for it through google. Found it, ordered it 2 years ago and it still hasn't arrived (and probably won't ever).
Not sure of how consumer law works in Czechia, but here in England I think this practice would be unlawful. Do banks in Czechia provide chargeback schemes? That's one way of getting a refund.
I'm surprised that after two emails saying that the parcels are about to be delivered they are allowed to change their tune to "see out Ts&Cs, it will take over a year" - why not do that in the first place?! Looking forward to the follow-up in the "negotiation"!

I am very hesitant on ordering online, especially now. There are so many fake websites it's not funny. It's very hard to know the legitimate ones now,as the fake ones are getting really good at faking it. I have recently learnt my lesson and now I NEVER order anything from a UA-cam ad!! You have to be on your guard 24/7, and check everything on the website and THEN even google the reviews on the company. If you miss this once, you can easily get scammed.
Report all websites to the domains registrars. They don't like when someone gives them fake names and run scam business on websites registered under them.
In belgium and the netherlands the scamsite is called “mezamstore” ordered and will recieve very late. I saw this video and immediatly recognised everything on the site. Thanks for the video. These things should stop. The government should fine these very hard. This is not fair
If she paid by credit card, she might want to get that blocked just in case. If it's truly some legal grey area, they probably won't stoop that low, since they're technically legal and want to stay that way, but I wouldn't rule it out. There's a different online shop scam where scammers buy domains that used to belong to shops that went out of business, pretend they are still owned by the old owner, and give them a phishing frontend copied from some large name brand store, with discount prices. If you buy from them, you will never get your product, and whatever you paid with is probably compromised. Though at least that's clearly not quite what happened here since any of the former owners of those sites would be instantly working with you to get rid of the scam site instead of whatever this guy was doing.

@@ccdsds3221 the guy has a real shop in CZ and if honest guid posts his name he will be in big trouble as he scammed lots of people in CZ...
I guess every country needs people/channel like this!
360 business days for a backpack to arrive is wild
you can be your own secret santa :D
Could be worse, could be 400 days lol
nice job you used the buzzword. Congratulations. Your comment is also "wild"
Plot twist: the backpack is sewn, packed and shipped from the Moon. 🤦
not in communist countries. we used to wait 10+ years to get the car we paid for
Idk if this is something else.
"You know who i am" omfg that was badass
Excellent journalism!
Merry Xmas Janek ❤
So much looking forward to the second part of this video 😁😁👏🏻👏🏻
This is quality youtube material. Keep up the god Work! A Sweden just subscribed.. 🙂
the Godfather Trilogy, someone asked Vito Corleone how he intended to change a person’s viewpoint. He responded, “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.”
Rule of thumb:
Don't order stuff from random sites returned on a search.
Superb work gentlemen. I can't wait for the follow-up video.
When scamming becomes a 'blood' sport. Keep up the good work Janek!
1:21 "you can read it right here about our shop". They seem to believe they are running a shop. Surely this gallery nonsense falls apart from there.
This is business :D
@edit: It's not dropshipping, it's similar, but it's something else.
You my friend, are a hero.
Will be watching next weeks
If the shops is too cheap or suspicious - always call the contact number!! Scammers copy the adress and all informations of legit companys nowadays on their fake shops,
you have to call the phone number in the contact or the "impressum" - usually it dont work and you know its a scam, otherwise its easy to put stolen informations in the about section or legal / impressum
Something like:
[Butter] [Jan] [Weather] [Rubeš] [Prague] [dark-blue]
This is a widespread problem. The shops often have simple names such as "somethingshop", and barely have any identifying details on their website.
They're not hard to spot, but it does require that customers read their terms of service and other related info before making an impulse purchase.
The website proudly claims, "Dispatch within 24 hours
We ship the goods immediately"
It's therefore reasonable to expect the goods within a reasonable time frame. So from a UK perspective, it would be unreasonable to wait for a year. The company would have to refund or providing you paid with a credit card, you could claim a chargeback from the card issuer.
Great Investigation !
Trustpilot helps a lot when you wanna buy something in a store you don't know or looks shady or a lot stores have the same item.
Trustpilot and Reddit are your best friends while online shopping. I often order motorcycle gear by browsing the cheapest listings on google. I do 10-15 mins of research on the shop and have never been scammed yet.
I did just hit the bell button, great video! 😸👍
So they're basically collecting orders for certain item. And only after that threshold is reached at their supplier in Cina / India or whereever then they order wholesale for a fraction of the price per unit. If they're smart the supplier even takes over the shipping and processing for them and they still make money.
Can't wait till next week
great, can't wait for next video
10/10 content can't wait for next week
I still dont understand the business model of that though. How do they make more money than a legitimate shop? If temu can bring it from China super cheap in like a month that means that shipping it in a month wont cost them much more than shipping them in a year. So how exactly do these galleries save cost by shipping them so slowly?
Great video!
I hope, no matter if he reimburses the money, you will inform the police or some other legal body. He/they will not stop scamming people
You are a gift to humanity 🙏
I love the side by side conversation, that was great!
Report the domains, lying about domain ownership will get the domains be shut down
But they can easily buy other ones
@@39exposuresof course, but they have to build them & visitor count up again. Most of the free traffic they get now will be gone.
This is the kind of cyber brinksmanship the world needs.
Sadly I got caught at similar "Shopping galery". I wanted a sailormoon cap with moon sickle on it and searched for it through google. Found it, ordered it 2 years ago and it still hasn't arrived (and probably won't ever).
When you think no one can reach you. Knock, knock here come the honest guys!
😂
Well done.
Not sure of how consumer law works in Czechia, but here in England I think this practice would be unlawful. Do banks in Czechia provide chargeback schemes? That's one way of getting a refund.
Best brother award goes to... Get em lad! 👊🏻
Looking forwards to next week video :D
Love your sarcasm.
I'm surprised that after two emails saying that the parcels are about to be delivered they are allowed to change their tune to "see out Ts&Cs, it will take over a year" - why not do that in the first place?! Looking forward to the follow-up in the "negotiation"!
Plot twist:
TheY now claim to be getting the all important fabric for the back pack from Brazil,
The cotton to stitch it -from New Zealand,
The zippers -from the UK,
The brand label -from Nigeria,
And the inner canvas - from Canada.
Apperantly, the first 2 have arrived and waiting for the rest.
please be patient while we await the raw materials after which production should begin.
Once your bag has been built after 13 months, we should like to inform you that because of our Quality standards, the Quality Control section would run it through their systems.
This could take anything from a month to three months.
Allow for this for a quality product!
Patiently waiting 7 days for this one, lol.
Nice work Honza!
That ending was INTENSE
This is my favorite arc in the Honest Guide storyline.
There are sites where you can put the url and they give you all the background check
Saves time and effort
@tariklyacoubi8197 okay..thanks...do you know the name of some?
THE ULTIMATIUM!!!! i love it. i'll be back in 7 days to see what happens!
Report all websites to the domains registrars. They don't like when someone gives them fake names and run scam business on websites registered under them.
We've had it all wrong. Janek is nit an Honest Guide. He is but a Virtuous Adviser!
This is why Amazon is so big.....for all its flaws, it delivers and is accountable, unlike no name pop up online stores.
It's crazy that you managed to get him on videocall.
People like this need to be punished. There needs to be an accounting for their lack of morals.
