I'm assuming its common knowledge since I barely know anything about the game, but I discovered that if an npc is asleep you can also briefly play an instrument to wake them up, at no karma cost :)
Oh I've been using this since I noticed it. Free wake up call to all those NPCs deciding that they needed sleep when there is important business to conduct with me. Sleep is for real people 🙂
Hey, loving the videos. A tip that I heard is that if you put a sales marker on a chest, it marks all the items in that chest as for sale! Good luck and thanks for the great videos.
Ok, from what I see in my playtrough and it is corraborated by wiki - the thieves guild quest only needs you to get -100 negative points as in separate instances you get those points, not to get to -100 total karma. Which means that you absolutely can just get negative karma and then do a quest to get a positive. Speaking of quests, there are few more methods to accumulating negative Karma. First is failing a quest, I think it makes you get -4 karma, which means you need to only fail 25 to get to thieves guild (I guess if you take delivery quest, you are basically a confidence trickster), but there is also GATHER CROPS quest. It always gives you 1 karma on completion, but since latest updates if you finnish the quest with some undelivered produce, you will have them removed and you will gather -1 karma, which makes this quest perfect karma neutral way to become thieves guild member as the WORST PRODUCE THIEF EVER. Also fun fact about gather produce quest: you can absolutely use scythe on those vegetables to get seeds, the questgiver won't ever take them away, it's the best way to get vegetable and grape seeds in the game
The best thing about this is quest is also the best way to gain karma. So you can just use influence, rerolling quest till you get multiple of 'kill xx number hostiles' quest, then finish all the xx number quest at once with the 'exterminate monsters from a location' quests. Oh also, you don't reduce karma by 5 when failing quest. You could reduce it by 15 if its a sending item quest.
Thanks for the video! Also, for the thieves guild quest, you can actually just sleight of hand/mine away their entire gold vault and then sell it to them/make statues out of the gold and make money
Well, with the Thieves Guild it's pretty simple. You go to Palmia, take a microphone (or any other instrument) and play, rerolling the mission at the stand for the influence you gain. Between missions you simply take away things that belong to your subordinate and after an hour or an hour and a half you have a lot of money, platinum coins, influence (there are often many missions for a party, and a reroll costs 1 influence) Profit on all sides!
I didn't want to fail quests or attack people to loose karma.. but I did happen to notice when entering the thieves guild through the back door that the entire basement is built off golden brick walls, so while no one watched I yoinked their walls off, accumulated the negative karma, got accepted, and then sold them their own basement back lmao, and walked away with cash, a salary and beefed up miner arms. This game is wild.
Fun fact if you don't wanna lose karma there is a small(very very small) chance to find a skill book with greater evasion on it same thing for minds eye for crit
Hey I love your content! It’s been really helpful to learn about the mechanics of the game. I haven’t been on for a few days so I haven’t been able to test this yet but it might be possible to mine into the room with the thieves guild entrance from the back alley to get inside early. I’m not sure if you’d have access to the merchants but you’d be able to mine the golden walls to accumulate negative karma while also getting cut gold stones in the process. There is also an unguarded room with a ton of gold items in it that you may be able to sleight of hand and sell for a lot of money. Might be a bit game breaking but it could help some aspiring thieves out there. Much love ❤
Just a quick note about the quest to join the thieves guild: You don't actually need to get your karma to -100. Rather, you just need to acquire a total of 100 negative karma points. After taking the quest, every time your karma goes down its added to the tally permannetly. So, for instance, you can accrue over 100 postitive karma and then get negative karma until you finish the quest. This way you never have to have a negative karma score.
In classic elona: "evasion" boosts your ability to dodge while "greater evasion" gives you the ability to dodge critical hits that are otherwise a sure hit, also it was possible to learn from guilds trainers by teleporting the guild "bouncer" away and use a disguise/incognito to make the members treat you as a fellow "member", this state lasts until the zone is loaded again, even when the effects ended Also in noyel there was a church of jure with a priest "merchant" that sold indulgences but there are also guards so one would need to go there disguised, notably in the 12th month they had festivals that was basically christamas so jure is the in game equivalent of jesus
kessel when the time comes and you run out of guides to put out, i would love it if you make a 100 da- wait that's too short for this game. a 1000 day challenge for this game anyways, amazing content as always bro!
The question is off topic, but maybe someone knows: I want to understand how martial arts work. As far as I understand, unlike real weapons, with increasing skill, bare fists gain not only additional damage, but also additional proxy dice for attacks. For example, some of the Beasts I caught have as much as 6d9+9 damage with BARE HANDS. I tried to level up a little myself and also received an additional Cube and now I’m hitting 3d+ something else. I'm thinking of trying the Monk's path) I haven’t seen anything like this with edged weapons. only the bonuses increased and that’s it.
I'm afraid that, I didn't have a chance to look into marital arts yet. According to the wiki there are few things to consider in regards to combat calculation of martial arts. Damage is determined by Martial Arts, Strength, Dexterity, Enchantment Value Damage dice is 2+(Martial Arts / 10), to a maximum of d6. The damage value of the dice is 5+√(Martial Arts / 3). Damage multiplier is 0.6 + ((Strength / 2 + Martial Arts / 2 + Tactics / 2) / 50.0). Additional damage is provided at a rate of 0.05x(Weapon Mastery Rank) That being said I cannot see anything about proxy dice. You might be onto something!
@Rainner_Von_Kessel ...Maybe I tested something else?... More tests are needed! I have partners and one of them has leveled up martial art and there is "4d something+something" damage with bare hands. This is a priestess of blades from a village in the north of the continent. (I don’t remember what they are called there) (She loved pieces of bodies - the easiest seduction in my life) And if leveling up skill levels had not been so long, I would have already tested this mechanic. That’s actually why I ask people how it is.
2:17 If you affinity with that NPC is the highest level like intimate, even if you kick you will not lose karma. Same applies when you want to take item from NPC, you lose karma if relation are low.
Thank you for letting me know. The real question is whether I will be able to kick one of my close companions without feeling bad for the rest of the day :)
If you still wanna wake up somebody without kicking them you can also play any instrument and they will wake up and you can interact with them afterwards.
Another great informative video! If there's enough content to talk about, could you do a section on recycling items, ecopos and fun things you can do with them?
Worth mentioning that you can also wake up NPCs by playing an instrument near them. I always carry a guitar on me to wake people up or do music quests.
What did you do to enlarge the item's description? There are items with hidden properties and I tried so many buttons but cannot enlarge the window. Please help :(
As mentioned in the video you can consistently buy them from certain merchants. I think you can also sometimes buy them from general merchants in any city. Hope it helps!
worth mentioning that you don't have to get negative karma to join thieves guild, just lose 100 in total. i did quests in the middle to get mine back up before continuing to pickpocket animals on a related note, you can pickpocket animals to train it at low levels since they will never notice or go hostile from my experience, i just went to the mysilia pens and went crazy
This is a really great point and a bit of oversight on my part. I see why this could be confusing to new players. Thank you for letting me know. Also, I love the trick with pickpocketing animals!
I'm still trying to figure out a faster way because i wanna steal the whole beehives there but so far it's worked great, and thank You for the videos, I never would've made it as far into the game as I did without your guides
You can also just go digging in Tinker's Camp as well. Each dig = -1 karma. It probably works elsewhere as well, but that's how I got into the Thieves Guild.
Also, you can mine the golden cellar in the Thieves Guild and turn all of the golden blocks into statues and the like. It's also a great place to level up pickpockets if you want to steal the relatively worthless treasures there. The small rooms in the guild are also frequently empty, which allows you to rob the guild blind. I think it all restores back to normal every month or so.
You mean companion skill potential? Roughly you just need them to have a hobby in a specific skill work at a housing plot for a couple months to develop said skill Then give them about 4-8K a month and they will develop potential I’m pretty sure companions will level up what is there current highest skill Though they do have an AI preference you can generally force them to use whatever
This trick unfortunately does involve dying but only a single time. For it to work you only need to claim a land adjacent to the truce grounds and place a delivery box there. Move to the truce grounds and place all the statues on the edge of the map, pick them up, extract and die. This will move all the statues to the world map. Now you can pick them up form an adjacent tile. Enter your tile and ship the statues with a delivery box back to your main base. Hope it helps!
You go to store in the dead of night but the shopkeeper is fast asleep, what do you do? A: Leave since it is unreasonable to expect service at this hour B: KICK
The best and most lucrative way to reduce karma that i have found so far in the early game, is to harvest crimberry bushes in mysilia. Every so often they respawn and there is a bunch of them that you can grind for money. Also you there is an important piece of information missing in the video, the karma loss for the thieves guild is cumulative. You don't need to reduce it all in one go anymore (i believe that was kind of the case in elona)
I know this a little late, but best way to increase/decrease karma is by doing quest. For decreasing karma, just abandon quest immediately after taking it. Prefereably deliver quest. Because it will decrease your karma by 15 every quest. You can abandon it by going to journal-quest-klik the quest-abandon on right top of the book. For increasing it, get multiple kill quest because it's stack. Example if you take quest of kill 17 monster and kill 13 monster, both of them will increase the counter by 1 even if you kill only 1 monster. Combine this with the 'kill monster in my home' quest, you don't even need to move from the quest board to finish 3 of them at once. But what if there's no kill quest? Then just reroll the quest board with your influence. Remember, finishing a quest will net you 1 influence, so you can almost doing this again and again, even net gaining influence if you finish multiple quest at once. This method will also net you lot and lot of plat coin. You don't have to worry even the spend a 5 coin at trainer because you can get like 100 coin in 30 minutes. Now your next problem is maybe the monster getting stronger. But just sell your fame if that's happen.
I was wondering where to get those tickets... But ahh, ahem, I'm already a master thief.... >W> I am used to being an evil thief, it's nice to have someone... spread our teachings.
There is a delivery box in the tinker's camp so you don't have to move them yourself. Once you are in tinkers camp, ctrl + F, search for a delivery box, you can 'throw' gates all the way to the delivery box and once you place them there, these should be delivered to your base. Hope it helps!
@@Rainner_Von_Kessel ctrl + f to find Delivery Box doesn't work for me. But thankfully the "Where is" function from the NPC works. I see it now. Thanks!
Here's a useful tip for using the player bases you visit. The different wild plants like mushrooms and fruit trees can be harvested without penalty for the most part(check to make sure your cursor isn't red), but this basically means that if you have both portals you can revisit the same one to farm a few different materials if you need a lot, and since plants are at whatever state they are loaded in regardless of season you can harvest fruit trees in winter for food if you need some extra. You can also check the shop residents in each of the bases you visit. They don't really refresh in any reasonable time frame, but quite a few player bases have a slave trader or two if you check.
a useful note with this is if you're not a kumiromi worshipper the only other way you can get rainbow fruit seeds is by visiting someone else's base that grows them and reaping them with a sickle
@Rainner_Von_Kessel also news letting you know that snail 13 (God) is still alive but those dam performers seem a bit strong to be considered a "very easy" enemy when it does half your hp in one hit and can target you from way outside your view at night...
the specific affinity threshold for friendly NPCs giving you their stuff is 75, i think in the original Elona, at 100 karma, you would get a tax discount; in Elin, i haven't noticed such an effect, but it might still be the case... its hard to tell if its going down because of my karma or tax evasion skill i would recommend anyone playing this game to watch your videos for useful advice, as this game has many systems that other games do not
Thank you @makeeye2867 ! This means a lot :) In regards to tax discount, it seems I might have been bamboozled by the fortune cookie. I have same issue with claryfing this due to the tax evasion skill.
If you mean the 'fast travel' you only need to acquire travel rations (you can either make them in your base or buy from the innkeepers). You initiate fast travel with a map icon when you are at the world map.
Doing gods work, would be so cool if we could compete against people on the adventure bored for ranking just more flavor and fun my goal is to be a S class adventure someday 😎
@@Rainner_Von_Kessel Or maybe, a 2 part series to advise how to train skills would be awesome, since newcomers would be trying to find ways getting to "mid game" after surviving
Just FYI for the theives guild you dont need to hit -100. You just need to lose 100 karma overall. So losing 5 karma and gaining it back makes , -5 progress on the quest. You can join the theives guild at 100 karma if you want. :)
@Rainner_Von_Kessel Ay yo, you dont even gotta apologize. You said something wrong about a video game. Just make another video later with all the corrections, its more content to farm baby!
You are right, in arithmetics there is no such thing as a positive or negative zero. However, both of these concepts exist in computing (this concept is often referred to as signed zero). We can even witness it in the context of the game (e.g. fertility).
A ring of extra ring finger is useless if not enchanted ... hahaha get it because i suppose if not enchanted the ring is using up 1 ring slot to get +1 ring slot fortune cookie you are so funny

They don't really refresh in any reasonable time frame, but quite a few player bases have a slave trader or two if you check.
a useful note with this is if you're not a kumiromi worshipper the only other way you can get rainbow fruit seeds is by visiting someone else's base that grows them and reaping them with a sickle
what if you bless the fortune cookie
What a thought! I will be testing it today :)
@Rainner_Von_Kessel also news letting you know that snail 13 (God) is still alive but those dam performers seem a bit strong to be considered a "very easy" enemy when it does half your hp in one hit and can target you from way outside your view at night...
@@pockets8548 Keeping my fingers crossed for you! :)
the specific affinity threshold for friendly NPCs giving you their stuff is 75, i think
in the original Elona, at 100 karma, you would get a tax discount; in Elin, i haven't noticed such an effect, but it might still be the case... its hard to tell if its going down because of my karma or tax evasion skill
i would recommend anyone playing this game to watch your videos for useful advice, as this game has many systems that other games do not
Thank you @makeeye2867 ! This means a lot :) In regards to tax discount, it seems I might have been bamboozled by the fortune cookie. I have same issue with claryfing this due to the tax evasion skill.
How did you get the ability to teleport to the cities?
If you mean the 'fast travel' you only need to acquire travel rations (you can either make them in your base or buy from the innkeepers). You initiate fast travel with a map icon when you are at the world map.
@@Rainner_Von_Kessel Thanks for the response! What device are they made on?
@@Retrovibe007 The device is called a ‘ration maker’. You can buy a recipe from Farris (talesinger).
ding dong new Kessel video
Doing gods work, would be so cool if we could compete against people on the adventure bored for ranking just more flavor and fun my goal is to be a S class adventure someday 😎
Joke's on you! I don't have a microwave! 👟🐈
Me neither but I am determine to buy one just for the occasion
Yo, ive been active playing Elin too, but im a newbie. do u think u can give an advisory of nefia progression?
It's a great idea for the video but I still have some things to learn to make a reasonable guide on the issue. Thank you for the suggestion!
@@Rainner_Von_Kessel Or maybe, a 2 part series to advise how to train skills would be awesome, since newcomers would be trying to find ways getting to "mid game" after surviving
Can you play the entire game as a Criminal?
3:31 me with my Foul Race quest of killing 12 cats: 😶
haha oh no! What a quest :D
Just FYI for the theives guild you dont need to hit -100. You just need to lose 100 karma overall. So losing 5 karma and gaining it back makes , -5 progress on the quest. You can join the theives guild at 100 karma if you want. :)
that is 100% true and it's my bad for not mentioning it. Thanks for letting me know!
@Rainner_Von_Kessel Ay yo, you dont even gotta apologize. You said something wrong about a video game. Just make another video later with all the corrections, its more content to farm baby!
You can get -100 karma without any issue by mining the bridges. No NPC to bother you.
And you get an extra bunch of logs to use.
That's great advice! I would never think about that myself!. Thank you
Why didn't I think about kicking people to wake them up...
I always just flex my terrible skills at playing a lute to get their asses to wake up
"A ring of extra finger is useless if not enchanted". This game has pianos... I would beg to differ.
got greater evasion from skill book early on.
Lucky you! I'm still praying to the rng gods! ;)
Rather than kick a sleeping person, I just sing badly into a microphone while standing near them. Not sure which is more rude
I'm sure you have cause physical harm to mathematicians by saying positive zero haha
Oh my goodness! I just got it! I feel very dense right about now :D
