- Remember Club Libby Lu? It was THE place for birthday parties or a next level playdate, but what happened to her? I’m gonna tell you all about it.

I apologize for the grainy photos and videos, but this was over 15 years ago so the photo quality wasn’t the best.

i feel like sephora kids just need something like club libby lu where they can mix and make their own age appropriate cosmetics instead of mixing drunk elephant drops and creams
I use to make “potions” outside with mud, leaves and sticks. These kids will regret not being kids while they could.
The Ashley Tisdale glitter wand is making me feel so many things
man i remember going just one time when i was about 4 (may have gotten my ears pierced there?), it was the happiest moment of my childhood. it felt so magical like i had stepped into fairyland. i kept the little potion aka glitter bag until i moved out of my parents' house in college because it rly felt like it had some sort of special power lmao. tysm for documenting this nearly-forgotten piece of the past
TBH, I really, really miss this hyper Amerikawaii, as I call it, phase in the 2000s. The tween girl era is gone and it's quite sad. The reason I loved JoJo Siwa was because she reminded me of this era, and for a while, she brought it back in the late 2010s. But now that she's moving on, it's not the same. I know she has a girl group trying to do what she did, but I think she embodied the Libby Lu vibe better than anyone!
It's ironic since I was certainly not a girly girl as a kid, but as an adult, well, give me all the boas and bows and rhinestones and glitter and rainbows and candy ever!!!!!!!
I get what you mean! I feel like kids grow up so so fast nowadays and go from little kid to older teen and totally skip the awkward pre-teen stage we are all suppose to have. I’ve seen 16/17 year olds who look older than me it’s wild.
@@MadiHearts I know!!! I am so scared about this too! I was 14 and still loving dolls and kids shows, heck, I still do today! I just hate that teens aren't allowed to just be teens. They have to be 26 at 15 and it's so sad to me. I hope Libby Lu comes back and invites teens and adults to participate, having clothes and party things in their sizes too!
To bad jojo is an entitled little "princess"
@@ms.pirate Well yeah, but I still think this aesthetic needs to be brought back. I don't want children looking up to teens that act like they're 35 and curse up storms. And those using "It's just what teens do" as an excuse infuriate me too.
the fact im a 2010 kid i always saw these vids of club libby lu but im so so so sad that i never got to go there bc it’s not even a thing anymore
Ugh i have the best childhood memories in Libby Lu😢😢😢
Omg THANK YOU! No one my age remembers this and I used to love it😂 feels like a fever dream
I had a Libby Lu birthday and got my ears pierced there!! Loved having a girly place to be a kid
I was invited to a birthday party at the Woodfield location. Being a tomboy, I felt horribly out of place the whole time, but looking back now the store was a pretty cool concept.
i still have my tube of glitter from libby lu i put it in a potion bottle and it was like fairy dust and id sprinkle a little on my head in the morning to have a good day 😭😭 i did that for years and i still have glitter in it
My mom never let me go inside bc the smell of the store gave her a headache, but every time I walked past the store at the mall I would always look inside like 👀
I’m sorry you never got to go in! :/ my parents were weird about certain stores smells too.
Never heard of this company. Just so interesting though! Thanks for uploading!
I’m so glad you enjoyed! Thank you for watching! 🥰
when i was 5 i got a little chihuahua yorkie and guess what i named her😭😭 tinkerbell. and i also had no idea who paris hilton was
That’s too funny 😂
if you don’t mind me asking, did you delete the skincare videos because i can’t seem to find them. either way i love your content
Yes I privated them along with most of my old videos here. I haven’t done any skincare content in over a year and I won’t be doing it again so it felt weird having them on my channel when that is not my niche anymore. You can still find my favorite skincare products linked on my LTK, which is madihearts.
@@MadiHearts thanks for replying! love your new content 💜
@@fifiluvsyou8010 thank you so much 🥰
I do question the weird tight belly showing top tho. I get the pop star idea but that top was a little much
what was the age range of this store? like, we’re there 13 year old girls going there? sorry i see people talk about libby lu vividly meanwhile i barely remember anything above like 12. . . maybe it was just too iconic to forget 😂
It was more aimed at elementary and tween aged children. I don’t think many teens would go to shop there.
My cousin comes from a VERY wealthy family and i remember seeing all of the stuff she got from libby lu qnd i remember being so disappointed that we were both poor and not in a state where they were held
I would say their item prices were on par with places like Limited Too so a bit overpriced. I’m sorry you never got to go. :(
I miss Libby lu more than anything… I kept my Hannah Montana wig in my dresser for YEARS 😂 I also had the same doorbell!! So much nostalgia
I was so lucky to have a Libby Lu birthday party when I was little - this whole video brought back so many memories!!! I remember a Libby Lu CD and it must've been from the party since it had cha cha slide and supermodel on it for sure! the little rockstar headset microphone was my absolute favorite thing in the world as a kid 😭
This brought back so much nostalgia 🥰
I’m glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!🥰
I really wanted to go to Libby Lu as a kid. My half sister was taken by her paternal grandmother and then they closed down shortly after, so I never got to experience it. Theres something about Club Libby Lu to me that always seemed so magical and actually aimed so the kid has a great experience. Idk what you'd call the sort of aesthetic it and other kid-tween stores (Claire's, Justice) captured at the time but I feel like it's been lost.
Loved the deep dive!
I loved club Libby Lu I wish someone would rebrand it again 😭
I love your content, thank you so much for sharing!! I found you on TikTok, and I’m over the moon you’re making UA-cam videos about my childhood i’m OBSESSED!!!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy and it means a lot that you came over from Tiktok. Lots more coming soon!♥️
I used to wanna go there so bad 😭😭 we could never afford it but went to my childhood friend's birthday there once
I had a rich rich friend who went anytime she felt like it lol I was like can I come?
my girl scout troop went there in fifth grade! the hairstyle i chose came with a big pink headband with long ribbons on it
I was OBSESSED with pooch parlor!!! My grandma would take me to the mall and I’d always ask for a new one
I remember this and also remembering wanting a girly birthday party for my 10th birthday in my girly phase. But sadly my parents didn't make much money at the time and came from unfortunate family. Because the prices if place were so unforadable for my parents even though I beg them to. Heck my parents couldn't even afford taking me to Limited Too for girly clothing and had to go to Sears to build girly pop style outfits. Let's as kid it would drive me crazy when my friend told me she went to a Hannah Montana Birthday at Club Libby Lu. And telling how amazing her experience was amazing with all DIY stuff. And activities sadly it sucked growing up unfortunate. And let's say back in the 1990's and 200's if you had bought things there or had a party at Club Libby you were considered the cool girl in School and if you had a party there let's your parents has money and you considered rich. Well now I am just Goth myself but still can't believe this place has disappeared oh well. 😂
I remember all of the popular girls going to birthday parties here :(
this place was such a magical experience as a kid 🥺🥺❤️
It was! But to be honest, watching back some of the clips I found for this video, it’s a bit cringey hahah!
lol I remember I had made my own body mist back when I was like 8 or 9. It was a purple color. I actually managed to make it smell pretty good as well.
i honestly wish i could've went there 😭 it looks so cute
I think I remember this place in my state. I had a cars themed birthday party there (it was a little girls salon)
I think that may have been a copy cat place. Libby Lu didn’t have anything that was the stereotypical “boy theme”.
@@MadiHearts no no! It was little girls salon in 2007 when I turned 7! They had a separate room for parties, my mom brought a cake I wanted and balloons that were cars themes! We had a girls make over too!
Does anyone remember the Kidz Bop-esque band? I definitely had a Club Libby Lu CD
Thought I made this place up for sure
Nothing will compare to the guttural sadness I felt when I discovered they closed all branches and had no plans to revive the brand
I was born after it closed so i never knew it existed until today😭.
My friend worked here. Unfortunately I was out of the age range for this (I was an adult when it existed) but I would have loved this as a kid!
Found you through the good ole meta algorithm and I’m glad I did! Great video❤ More pls!
I’m so glad you enjoyed! Much more to come!🥰
i used to want to go there so bad 😭😭 we need spaces like this still!!!
I think I remember dancing outside the store to What I Like About You at my birthday party one year
I've never heard of Libby lu I'm from a small town out in the middle of nowhere in the country.
I had my 7th birthday there 🥲 I was wondering what happened to it
One time my mum let me do a bday look here and I regret that my Hannah Montana wig got ruined. I enjoyed the updo tiara makeover and being able to have the wig. I also had the curly updo wig piece.
I miss this store so much! It’s sucks that they had to close.
If they got to stay open that would be amazing! Such a blessing in Jesus name! To see This store again 😭
The only thing I have left is their old backpack.
I don’t remember what happened to my old updo curly wig piece.
I love Libby Lu! It's sad that the place got shut dow in 2009. I wish it was still around.
Ive always wanted to wear their headset😭
They were my favorite! I felt so cool! You can find them at party supply stores still. :)
I loved this store sooo much as little girl
My mom wouldn’t let me go there and I wish I could’ve 😭
I got a certificate for my 6th birthday. I still have my pink stuffed dog I got from there.
i got my ears pierced at libby lou!
I remember dancing in the middle of the mall 😂
I remember how it smelled in there..
I still have my VIP card 🥹
I actually found mine at my parents house!! I was so excited!🥰
