any advertising/media person will tell you that "1890 Initiative" is a terrible name, just numbers (admittedly a date) without emotional content or meaning that is immediately apparent.

Our name is actually a nod to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's first football game. On November 27, 1890, the Nebraska Old Knights (the team representing the university at the time) played Omaha YMCA and beat them 10 to 0. You are welcome to learn more about the collective and our history here: www.1890nebraska.com/about-us/ 🙂

I don’t know, maybe you should listen to the fan base and consider a rebrand?
I agree with the prior comment 100%.
Even knowing what 1890 is, the name sucks… bad. I’m sorry, but it’s laughably bad, it doesn’t inspire action in any way, ask around. I haven’t talked with a fan yet that relates to the name.
If you can’t brand 1890 in a way that makes it easy to sell something as basic as t-shirts, it’s a fail, plain & simple. Sell me a cool shirt where a portion of proceeds goes to NIL and I’m probably in… but good luck soliciting me to give money to kids who already have significant advantages. I’d rather buy a bag of groceries for an exhausted student nurse or a starving art student than straight cash for any semi-pro athlete.
I know you’re navigating uncharted waters but there needs to be value for the fans and I haven’t seen anything compelling from you thus far, that concerns me as a fan.
As for a name, off the top of my head, you could have gone with ‘In the Deed the Glory’ and people would be far more likely to respond!
      GBR🏈❤!!!
