Wow, I have a 16 foot fiberglass, decked out for bass fishing with a Johnson 25 hp 3 cylinder 2 stock and get 27 mph. And I'm thrilled at that. Nice boat Mark. Love watching your videos.
People don’t realize just how fast 70 MPH on the water feels. The fastest I’ve ever gone is maybe 55 and I thought that was fast!

70 is fast for a Ranger, they’ve never been known for there speed but more so for ride back in my tournament days. Very nice boat for sure. 👍

Good video. What were air and water temps? Summer would probably be 3-5mph slower. Would be interested to see it with 2 people and gear for both, full tank and livewells full. That’s a more realistic scenario for many of us. Also, I assume this had lithiums? AGMs would add a couple hundred pounds.
Not criticizing…I’m considering buying one and would like to really know what to expect.

Yea people are showing all kinds of stuff but the video is cut all up they got video of it loaded down then it is cut to probably a empty boat they running with a prop they have dun had built specifically for the boat and motor they running and still only showing 76-80 so yeah they can blow that money for all of it but 65-70 mph is already so fast if something happens there’s a 75% chance you gone don’t collect 500$ don’t get a reroll nothing so yeah you don’t need anything faster family is only thing there is forever in life and as bad as you don’t won’t to keep them around I promise they won’t you around more than that god bless y’all brother great video keep on reeling them in

Love ya Mark! but 70 is only fast for Ranger guys... us Bass Cat boys don't feel like we are going fast until you get into the 75+ area. Do you need to go faster than 70? nah probably not.... but it sure is fun! Love your videos! Keep 'em coming!

I have a 2017 Ranger Z519C with a 225 Merc. With the the right trim and jackplate height, I've topped out at 71 mph twice on local lakes. But I mostly fish the California Delta and will never go faster than 45 mph trying navigate those waterways. And just like you said "I like my health". 🤣 But it is also for the safety of other boaters on the water too.
I saw a guy in a Ranger hit a pole on the California Delta during a tournament. Threw him and his partner out of the boat, completely crushed the front of the boat also. Still, the boat was sitting in the water completely full of water, but would not sink.

Rangers are super nice and all but I can say fishin off my buddies 625 blazer and shotgun launches it’s super fun and beneficial be be in the high 70s loaded. Now that being said with a ride around period and all of that u get to save the extra gas and wear and tear on the motor when u can run 50 and get there in enough time

I have always said my boat may be able to go 70 mph but I am yet to catch a bass going 70 mph. Basically, it doesn’t matter if a persons boat can go that fast or not, as long as you are able to get on the water, it floats and is safe it’s better than nothing at all.
I used to think like that when I had my tracker, I upgraded to a champ that goes 60 loaded and I see a difference, that being said when we call numbers and the guys in bullets and my friend in his blazer pass me 3 boats back and get to my spot on the smaller sized lake I wish I had the speed

When I bought my new 2002 Ranger 488VS w/200 Merc OptiMax, top speed was 69.. without jack plates or chime walking.
Chine* The "Chines" of the hull on the boat catch water and drag the boat side to side, making it seem like it's "Walking"...Hence the term, Chine Walking.

What do you consider a safe speed to run during calm conditions, and thanks for doing this video. I don't own a bass boat, but I do a lot of tournaments as a Co angler, and their have been times that I was scared for my life because the boater was driving too fast and I almost got thrown out. Life of a co angler...lol

65-70mph Is pretty safe with an experienced driver.
My buddy was hoppin shotgun launch waves going 55 then when we got past em climbed to 79 it was super fun just gotta trust the guy behind the wheel
Depends on the boat and the driver but generally speaking, I agree with Mark. 70 MPH in a 20-21ft modern bass boat is plenty safe as long as the guy behind the wheel is experienced and has some sense.
@@Jay_Wood eh I mean 70 is pretty average for 20-21 fast boats like here on the Harris chain can save and hour of fishing time if you beat the other boats to the Apopka lock. Or like johns lake you can pass people and get to the community holes and catch em before they pull up. Now MLF they are fine not having a super fast boat cause of ride around period

My 2001 nx896 nitro 225efi gps 74.8 top speed , hydraulic jack plate . Half tank fuel, fully loaded with rods and gear. Some new skeeters I hear hit 82 mph...with Yamaha 250 four strokes
Nevermind the bullets they are crazy fast.
Skeeter boats don't have mercury engines....unless it is an older boat and has been repowered. Skeeter are like ranger and usually on the slower end.

Mark, any chine walk? I test drove one with a dealer yesterday. It had pretty bad chine walk starting at 60mph. It’s the dealers boat and he warned me it would walk. I’ve never had any chine walk in my previous Rangers.
I noticed a boat starting to walk a little bit around 68 mph

I owned a Ranger 361v. It was a nice Safe, boat but it was so heavy that it tore up 5 different motors. therefore i will never own another Ranger boat. I own an Allison craft now and i can pick the boat up with 1 hand and put it on the trailer hitch.
