It was a honor to watch these people and to have them play as quest performers for our all state festival back in January. Being in the middle school all state band, and watching this just showed us what we could become. I am forever grateful for My Allstate experience and watching JHHS play.this was the first time a high school ensemble has ever performed this piece (PS turn resolution up)
I love this piece too!! These people are the competition for state😭and district bc we’re in the same one as them. But yes they are truly very talented.
I'm going into 9th grade and i want to do ILMEA, but the audition this year is brutal. I'm going to start posting my practice sessions every day because that helps me to keep practicing. Edit: Woah, i was NOT expecting jungle from a concert band. That was a doozy of a style switch.
Jungle (and its more energetic sibling breakcore) is a subgenre of Drum & Bass, whose defining feature is its use of breakbeats. A good example, and also the most famous, is the breakbeat from "Amen Brother" by the Winstons, nicknamed the Amen Break. In jungle and breakcore, a sample of one of these breakbeats will be chopped up into segments and played like a drumset, with a kick sample, snare sample, hihat sample, etc. This example isn't sampled, but it's definitely the same general musical formula. "I Can't Afford Mastering" by C418, for example, similarly has ethereal chords over a chaotic breakbeat, which inclines me to classify "Wind" as jungle and not just drum and bass. Sorry if i'm not making sense, but I feel forced to explain my reasoning as to not confuse you and convince myself that I'm wrong

I love Re(new)al!!!! It's insane how these high school musicians are capable of performing this incredibly difficult piece so well!
