It's a bit of a shame, cause the MB Citaros came off the back of the very popular MB O405 model (with four different bodywork variants shared between SBST and SMRTB), which was reaching the end of their shelf life when the Citaros were being introduced en masse. The real kicker was that the first batch of Citaros introduced by SMRTB and the subsequent batches shared the exact same manufacturer: EvoBus. So it's puzzling that the 1st gen of Citaros (under SMRTB) was well-received, whereas subsequent batches are only known for their flaws.
I have to *agree* as all the points stated in the videos are the painpoints. The lack of pids, the horribly thin seats, the unadjustable aircons, during hot days it can be like sauna and worse of all... *The price tag per unit for this sort of quality on public transport...* It is unfortunate that the Citaro C2 failed its trial as I had hoped it would have pass its trial and bring improvement to the fleet of buses such as the much needed pids and usb chargers that allow me to charge on the go.
LTA made a mistake during the BSEP days, when SBST ordered way too much Citaros to replace Volvo B10M MKIIs. They should've bought B7RLEs instead.
Volvo B10M MKII were replaced by Scania K230UB , Mercedes Benz O405 and Volvo B10M MKIII were replaced by citaros
I won’t say hate as it is a strong word but I’ll I say dislike to the Volvo B9tls everytime I use my phone in that bus it makes me feel dizzy compared to other buses
In my opinion, Citaros are one of my favs, most of them that I ride do kickdown
The first unit of SBST Citaro is SBS6000L which was registered in April 2011 now perm on svc 232 under Braddell bus park BRBP & it features palm type bus stopping bell but due to easily triggered they decided to replaced with the current bell

For me, i like both sbst and smrt specs citaros.

In Europe they have more Citaros than SG.
Not gonna lie I guessed it before I even clicked in. For all the hype surrounding fully low floor vehicles in Australia it's quite interesting how the Mercedes Citaro is disliked so strongly by so many in Singapore.
Sydney used to have some Mercedes O405NH CNG vehicles with Citaro style bodywork - they had a power output of 215hp and on hot days it was often faster to walk out of Circular Quay than to get the bus!
I prefer the smrt owned citaro cause of the zf transmission. Much more powerful compared to current lta owned citaro voith transmission. And it is more features compared to lta citaro.

fun fact: recently noticed sbs transit pasted many priority stickers in the citaros. Almost half of the bus. Maybe can do a fun fact series on priority seats 😂

The ride comfort of the Citaro in terms of gear shift and suspension is unbeatable. The model I dread to take is the Scania don't know what model...:) Poor acceleration, the gear shift shock is always jerky, not to mention the 2 steps you need to take to get to the back.
I beg to disagree that the citaro is the most 'hated' bus model in Singapore. Although I agree that the Citaro has some disadvantages, such as the non-adjustable aircon vents which to me was a wrong choice, and also the poor pickup speed of the buses, I actually find the seats on the Citaro's quite comfortable. To me, the bus feels spacious too and the seats dont seem to be cramped, especially the seats facing each other. I find the bus model that I dislike the most is the MAN NL323F (Euro VI). For some reason or another, the back part of these bus models after the exit door feels extremely stuffy and warm. Even on a cool day or at night, it still feels this way. It is not an isolated issue as I experience this on all MAN NL323F that I have taken. This makes the journey very unpleasant to the point that if I do have to board this particular bus model, I will choose to sit at the front part of the bus or even wait for the next bus. The seats at the back also feel very cramped and the leg space is poor. No doubt the pickup speed of this bus is good, but overall this bus is just a big turnoff to me.

So when I was playing kampong kayu and my rank is trainee and I wouldn't say I hated it but I'd dislike the Mercedes Benz citaro and when I ride bus 107M there were no lights in the bus

No offense, but I hate the Man A22s the most and love the Citaros more, as the MAN A22 is quite jerky if the driver doesn't have enough skills and quite suppressing at times.
If I were to compare the overdeployed Citaros and B9TLs, I’d rather take the B9, cuz at least the bus has some power(tho inferior compared to the A95, the CDGE is an exception). The bus at least has thicker seats and adjustable aircons. The citaros took everything away from us, therefore the “economy bus that goes wrong”
A shame LTA can screw up with a reputable bus. Even the E500 feels better despite having near similarities to the citaros and reliability problems, but at least the bus is powerful.
And speaking of uncomfortable seats on long haul bus: Airport Svcs🤡

can see you are too young to try DAF model.. haha.. it is worse in my opinion another 1 is the scania no step version which was converted to aircon, the aircon is not strong enough and It is underpowered
I was 15 at that time. Now 23, my memory feels like 53 after NS. The Scania Elbo, yes i remember it was the shittest bus ever
If citaros have aircon vents like those scania and volvo b9tl or man then it will be the best but wothout that this bus is really hot. I have lost trust in singapore public transport. Especially those long trunk routes example like 51, 64,10,30 omg. Its terrible and they deploy all those NEW MAN BUSES to those like HGDEP 660
I don't see citaros on 10,30,51 extremely often. Id estimate a ~20% chance for 10 and 51 and

@@Ardient_ 10 is either hit or miss. As a daily rider on 10, i do see citaros pretty often and its always either they redeploy from other svc or its SPAD or its perm. 10 should honestly be a full dd fleet thanks to its high demand sections from Bedok Rd > Tampines Int
