This technique is so much faster and more convenient than the system I came up with here. Basically just using a spoon inside a bowl of beads. Slide all the colors I don't want away until I get a small collection of the color I do want, then scoop those and repeat. I just recently started back into the hobby with my daughter and that's how I came across this video. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Saw this video a few days ago and was like, "That's neat, but I'll never need it. I hate sorting beads so I always just buy the bags of single colors!".... then my local Michaels had a huge clearance on some bead kits that I just couldn't refuse so I was stuck with a load of mixed beads. I remembered coming across this video and decided to try your method. Oooooh man, this is genius!!! I HATE sorting beads, but this makes it so much better. Thank you so much for sharing this, it's a lifesaver (or at the very least a time saver)!
So I bought a 22,000 bucket of beads. Saw this video but said..naaahhh I'll sort by hand.YEAH RIGHT! lol This made a world of a difference. I actually use a hard plastic straw, its transparent so you can kind of see which color is in it, not too well but anyhow, this method is awesome! I now look fwd to sorting beads. Also, dont use the super wide straws like for boba tea or smoothies, because when you cut the X in the tape, if you pick up more than one bead, you will never be able to pick up only one. Stick with regular width straws if that makes any sense. Anyway, thank you! This video deserves more views!
Also for anyone who is worried about sorting the 22,000 bucket, its not all that bad! First, there are 30 different colors. Lots of shades, which can slow you down, but I promise after a while...it will get quicker! At first it was a bit frustrating, but now, its pretty therapeutic!
This is amazing!!!! I sorted 8,500 beads last night and the palm of my hands ended up hurting!! You're a life saver. I have a 22,000 bead jar coming in the mail and this will come in handy. Thank you!!!!
Well, this internet person doesn't like your idea....she LOVES it! It is INGENIOUS! I just finished sorting 6000 beads with my "fangers" which, of course, is what sent me to the Internet looking for a better way. How I wish I had found your tutorial first! I have already made my straw and tested it out and it works great. I am new to perler beads so I used a 40% off coupon on a mixed bag because it made them so much cheaper than buying the individual bags of specific colors. After I finished sorting, I thought to myself "never again" but now that I've seen and tried your way, I won't hesitate to buy another mixed bag or bucket. Thank you SO much for sharing your idea!
I read the title like six times and each time I read it as "Perler Snorting." That coupled with the thumbnail of the straw in bowl of perler beads brought me here.
I do a lot of crafting and was given two huge tubs of mixed perler beads by my younger brother. Figured I'd give them a try. Took me two days to sort just one of the tubs. This looks like it will make it go way faster lol. Going to try this method on the second tub. Thank you so much!
This was a game changer!! I've been sorting a giant pile for like three evenings, I made this like an hour ago and I'm done. If you didn't realize you were a genius, you should know you're a genius. Thank you!
OMG, thank you so much for this tip. I just got into perlers and all my stores had were the multi buckets, so currently trying to sort them out with tweezers. You are a life saver.
You are a genius! I have 4 tubs (1.5 lbs each) of the pyssla beads from ikea and I'm not excited to organize them but I'm so glad I came across this video. This will make it a lot easier.
Genius! I hate sorting beads! My mom gave my kids 2 of those giant buckets of beads where they are all mixed. And we are losing our minds searching for colors. Can’t wait to try this.
Brilliant! I just wish now there weren't a 1000 different colors in the bottle for this to work well, but I like a challenge and I'm looking to build a contraption to sort by color, toodles!
This is awesome. I wonder if the milk tea/boba straws would be best for this. Maybe regular straw as the pick up and the milk tea straw connected as sort of a paintball pod to store more than usual.
Brilliant, thank you! Hopefully I can make this happen and speed through the sorting. I have found a toothpick to be a helpful tool when working with the beads.
Little tip- if you fold the tape in half on each side and cut the cross in the middle then cut it into a cross by going about a quarter/half a inch or so from the crease it is much easier :)
SweetDD123 :D just grab two pieces of tape, cover the one of the ends of the straw with the tape, so that it looks like an X. fold up the edges, then tape them to the straw with a third piece of tape. once that is secured, you're gonna want to get a sharp blade like a knife and cut a small x in the tape, where the opening in the straw was. when you poke the beads with the straw, the x folds in because of the pressure, but it holds enough so it won't let the beads fall out. hope I could explain it a bit better ':)
Hey Gal, saw your video yesterday, watched and moved on, then I started thinking about you this morning, and I rememberd, a few years ago I was into beading, and saw a jewelry making show on pbs, the girl showed a tool for picking up beads, it's called a "wax jewel setter", from bead landing. it's a little package with 3 plastic stick things, with a wax blob on the end. Sorry for my discriptions, think I got t at Michaels, of course, or Hobby lobby. Wish I could send you a picture, but don't know how. Just a thought.
Am i the only one that actually likes to sift through the mixed beads to find the colors I need when I'm making something? Lol I have no plans of sorting my beads but i just had to see how you were sorting them with a straw
just wanted to say that this is frickin genuis onkly i niw use this hard plastic straw but it workls wonders so much easier thankyou for sharing this you havew made my lidfe just a lil easier lol
I find plastic tweezer work and they don't hurt your hands like the metal ones do. You can buy an official perler bead one but somewhere like a dollar store or a pharmacy might have one.
I accidentally pulled the tape tabs unevenly & made the X opening gap a bit. So, pro-tip here: calm down that strength, internet people! Also, tytytytytytytyty@Rogue Salain

I use a bamboo skewer to pick them up and sort them.
This is amazing!!!! I sorted 8,500 beads last night and the palm of my hands ended up hurting!! You're a life saver. I have a 22,000 bead jar coming in the mail and this will come in handy. Thank you!!!!

i've been sorting all my 12,000 perler beads with my fingers ;-;
My mom got me a 32,000 barrel for Christmas and I'm still sorting ':D been doing it by hand for myself for a while
That one idiot ._.'
That one idiot meeee tooooo
Maso-Kun sameee
Maso-Kun i feel you... i did that too
I thought it said perler snorting lol
CPB Studios right 😂
CPB studios IKR! I was laughing so hard!
CPB studios so did I
It's very convincing since there's a straw😂
life hack for beads

This is like... The best video I've ever found relating to perler beads. It saves so much time, I'm so glad you came up with this
You are a genius!! I spend hours sorting beads with my tweezers. This method is sooo much better! Thank you for sharing!
This was a game changer!! I've been sorting a giant pile for like three evenings, I made this like an hour ago and I'm done. If you didn't realize you were a genius, you should know you're a genius. Thank you!
This is absolute brilliant engineering, simple and elegant.
I have 3 kids that LOVE these beads. They are 7,6 and 4. You are fantastic. You just saved me so much time!!! Thank you!
OMG, thank you so much for this tip. I just got into perlers and all my stores had were the multi buckets, so currently trying to sort them out with tweezers. You are a life saver.
It's a really genius idea! I would have never thought of it and just thought "hey! I give up!" So thank you :3
Tried it and this is SO much faster than sorting through 50000 beads with nothing but a pair of tweezers and determination. Thank you!!!!
Wow this is a great Idea I've been perler beadinh for a little over a year and this is the best sorting technique I've seen so far!
What!? Totally blew my mind! Such inventiveness. Thank you for sharing. :)
You are a genius! I have 4 tubs (1.5 lbs each) of the pyssla beads from ikea and I'm not excited to organize them but I'm so glad I came across this video. This will make it a lot easier.
This video immeasurably improved my quality of life. Thank you.
I loved this idea. You have saved my sanity when I have to help my kid sort her beads. Thank you.
Genius! I hate sorting beads! My mom gave my kids 2 of those giant buckets of beads where they are all mixed. And we are losing our minds searching for colors. Can’t wait to try this.
Ok seriously dude, this is brilliant
This is BLOODY BRILLIANT! A total game changer - thank you soooooooooo much!!!!
instead of a straw I used a marker that dried out
I took out the middle part and cut off the front and end then put the tape on
Brilliant! I just wish now there weren't a 1000 different colors in the bottle for this to work well, but I like a challenge and I'm looking to build a contraption to sort by color, toodles!
You’re the person who came up with the straw!!
genius! ive been begging my son to sort his beads but this may help him get motivated!
This is genius! i always did it with my tweezers. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I've been sorting 15,000 perler beads the past 5 days and I'm down to the last few, I wish I knew about this before😭
THIS IS GENIUS!!!!! Thanks for the tip, I'll start doing this.
I made my tape twice as thick but this saved me sooooo much anguish thank you! I got milkshake straws from the dollar section of rite aid!!
THANK YOU! You have no idea how much time you saved me. I dunno how I was going to sort 50,500 perler beads haha
This is awesome. I wonder if the milk tea/boba straws would be best for this. Maybe regular straw as the pick up and the milk tea straw connected as sort of a paintball pod to store more than usual.
Like your Samus project in the background!
This is pure genius
I swear to God when I first saw the title and the straw in the thumbnail i thought it was snorting perler beads
woman be my friend. i need your kind of brains in my life.
I made this last night. Used duct tape to make it sturdy. It works great!!!!!!! Thank you for this!!!
Brilliant, thank you! Hopefully I can make this happen and speed through the sorting. I have found a toothpick to be a helpful tool when working with the beads.
Jaysus you are a life saver!
Little tip- if you fold the tape in half on each side and cut the cross in the middle then cut it into a cross by going about a quarter/half a inch or so from the crease it is much easier :)
wow this is an amazing method! thank you so much for sharing it with us!

SweetDD123 :D

Yuki the Wolf thx😊
thank you, this will be very helpful for sorting the huge bucket of assorted beads that's been haunting me.
Hey Gal, saw your video yesterday, watched and moved on, then I started thinking about you this morning, and I rememberd, a few years ago I was into beading, and saw a jewelry making show on pbs, the girl showed a tool for picking up beads, it's called a "wax jewel setter", from bead landing. it's a little package with 3 plastic stick things, with a wax blob on the end. so helpful!!! thx so much for making this vid!!! such a timesaver!!!
Am i the only one that actually likes to sift through the mixed beads to find the colors I need when I'm making something? Lol I have no plans of sorting my beads but i just had to see how you were sorting them with a straw
Love the gravity suit Samus Aran!
Worked so well. I had to use a slushie straw but was so much easier
If you use a smaller straw and apply the same technique to make it, you can do this to pick up seed beads, which a pain to sort.
You're a genius.
This is GENIUS ! Thank you for sharing with us :)))
Great idea! I wish I would have seen this a few weeks ago.
I want to thank you soooo much this is the most helpful tool ever !!!! THANK YOU😄
thank you this helps soooo much. Now just find a good one for mini beads.
Just a smaller straw.. we have only middies here and small straws
Summer Merritt ik a lil late but idc XD
This is BRILLIANT. Thank you!
just wanted to say that this is frickin genuis onkly i niw use this hard plastic straw but it workls wonders so much easier thankyou for sharing this you havew made my lidfe just a lil easier lol

One Word: BRILLIANT!
Wish I knew this when I was 14, instead of sorting my giant tub by hand!!!!! Still have them now, and I'm in my 20s. Lol😅
I find plastic tweezer work and they don't hurt your hands like the metal ones do. You can buy an official perler bead one but somewhere like a dollar store or a pharmacy might have one.
THAT IS AMAZING
I AGREE!!!
The greatest perler invention
I read the title fast and thought it said perler snorting😂
Idk but I just ended up here and I'm so glad I did! 😄😄 my tray that had my beads separated fell the other day. This is going to be so helpful 😊😊😊
