This technique is so much faster and more convenient than the system I came up with here. Basically just using a spoon inside a bowl of beads. Slide all the colors I don't want away until I get a small collection of the color I do want, then scoop those and repeat.
I just recently started back into the hobby with my daughter and that's how I came across this video. Thanks for sharing. ❤

Saw this video a few days ago and was like, "That's neat, but I'll never need it. I hate sorting beads so I always just buy the bags of single colors!".... then my local Michaels had a huge clearance on some bead kits that I just couldn't refuse so I was stuck with a load of mixed beads. I remembered coming across this video and decided to try your method. Oooooh man, this is genius!!! I HATE sorting beads, but this makes it so much better. Thank you so much for sharing this, it's a lifesaver (or at the very least a time saver)!

So I bought a 22,000 bucket of beads. Saw this video but said..naaahhh I'll sort by hand.YEAH RIGHT! lol This made a world of a difference. I actually use a hard plastic straw, its transparent so you can kind of see which color is in it, not too well but anyhow, this method is awesome! I now look fwd to sorting beads. Also, dont use the super wide straws like for boba tea or smoothies, because when you cut the X in the tape, if you pick up more than one bead, you will never be able to pick up only one. Stick with regular width straws if that makes any sense. Anyway, thank you! This video deserves more views!

Also for anyone who is worried about sorting the 22,000 bucket, its not all that bad! First, there are 30 different colors. Lots of shades, which can slow you down, but I promise after a while...it will get quicker! At first it was a bit frustrating, but now, its pretty therapeutic!

Well, this internet person doesn't like your idea....she LOVES it! It is INGENIOUS! I just finished sorting 6000 beads with my "fangers" which, of course, is what sent me to the Internet looking for a better way. How I wish I had found your tutorial first! I have already made my straw and tested it out and it works great. I am new to perler beads so I used a 40% off coupon on a mixed bag because it made them so much cheaper than buying the individual bags of specific colors. After I finished sorting, I thought to myself "never again" but now that I've seen and tried your way, I won't hesitate to buy another mixed bag or bucket. Thank you SO much for sharing your idea!

I read the title like six times and each time I read it as "Perler Snorting." That coupled with the thumbnail of the straw in bowl of perler beads brought me here.

I do a lot of crafting and was given two huge tubs of mixed perler beads by my younger brother. Figured I'd give them a try. Took me two days to sort just one of the tubs. This looks like it will make it go way faster lol. Going to try this method on the second tub. Thank you so much!

Little tip- if you fold the tape in half on each side and cut the cross in the middle then cut it into a cross by going about a quarter/half a inch or so from the crease it is much easier :)

      SweetDD123 :D
just grab two pieces of tape, cover the one of the ends of the straw with the tape, so that it looks like an X. fold up the edges, then tape them to the straw with a third piece of tape. once that is secured, you're gonna want to get a sharp blade like a knife and cut a small x in the tape, where the opening in the straw was. when you poke the beads with the straw, the x folds in because of the pressure, but it holds enough so it won't let the beads fall out. hope I could explain it a bit better ':)

Hey Gal, saw your video yesterday, watched and moved on, then I started thinking about you this morning, and I rememberd, a few years ago I was into beading, and saw a jewelry making show on pbs, the girl showed a tool for picking up beads, it's called a "wax jewel setter", from bead landing. it's a little package with 3 plastic stick things, with a wax blob on the end. Sorry for my discriptions, think I got t at Michaels, of course, or Hobby lobby. Wish I could send you a picture, but don't know how. Just a thought.
