Good work julian. The problem is no one wants only solidity dev because most of the company doesn't have budget for entire fleet of developer. Often they require someone who works well in solidity but knows about react frontend, have some knowledge about docker or kubernetes management, or have some bash/python skills. I highly doubt only solidity won't help much in job market. All of them one 2in1 3in1 combo from us. Though I know solidity very well from v0.4 I forced to quit the space because i don't enjoy js at all. It doesn't give me the fun the enthusiastic Adrenalin drive and where is no fun the output from me would be garbage as well. I have strong background in python and c++ from my previous decades of backend engineer so I think i will stick to rust which is quit exciting for me right now. For any new comer solidity dev your course is a great start and cover every key aspects of it.
You can get into the industry knowing (almost) only solidity. I think it’s actually the better path. Instead of starting with development, start with security. Reading the code is easier than writing the code. You will be learning and working almost exclusively with solidity, you will learn the best code examples, and you don’t need employment, as you can start doing audit contests immediately. Also, security research experience will make you better than majority of developers (most have very poor understanding of security aspects), also it will set you apart from them if you will be looking for jobs.
@@SK-vg3mw "knowing (almost) only solidity"... meh. according to PASHOV, or PATRICK COLLINS or JOHNNY TIME, you don't even need solidity to break into the web3 security. According to them, it is nice to know but not a requirement like knowing how evm works or security flaws. And they are quite industry expert I believe. But anyway if someone willing to start their journey in solidity they mus has to start from somewhere right. Julian here or Gregory is doing a phenomenal job to train new comers. Only advice for the new comers that before jumping into any industry research about it and abandon any false hope.
Yeah for sure. most are like that, a lot of projects just want forks of stuff. but there's a lot of them out there that have a customized vision that wants something built solely on the contract level by a solidity dev.. then they have the frontend guys figure out plugging in your contract 😂
Hold on im solidity developer and also CSS skills are really good and these who wish to learn other skills as I had to do . Because solidity isn't enough and throwing yourself as newbie into solidity is hard so understand very basic of simple languages is useful yes solidity is totally different but still gives you good understanding with other skills
Good point. Beginners tend to scatter across way too many different skills. It's way more efficient to focus on the most in demand skill, Solidity. This being said, later, doesn't hurt to learn other skills. It's all a matter of balance.
I'm confused as I'm learning. What's the difference between a smart contract engineer, blockchain engineer and solidity developer? Are they all the same?
a simple example is let's say there is a critical issue on the smart contract that could be a potential exploit. making a pull request that addresses this issue will be a step towards patching up this exploit. and depending on if the smart contract was developed with upgrading in mind with various proxy patterns, the smart contract with the exploit could be retired and replaced with a newly deployed smart contract that has the security patch. this is just one example of many on how a pull request could be helpful.

Hey Julian, it is impossible to contact you. There is no support button on your website, you have to be premium on LinkedIn or Twitter to send you a dm. How do you sopve issues with your customers? Hopefully not on UA-cam comments, but since i see no other way i want to submit an issue. Signing in to a bootcamp i had received invoice but i didn't receive email and cant access bootcamp account. Its strange because i could do it yesterday. Please, reply as soon as you see this message

What you say is only true of small companies. Big companies want specialists, i.e, Solidity developers.
Thanks for your support anyway :)

Sounds similar. Blockchain dev can mean several things though.

Are you looking for solidity jobs in the UK?
IF the contract is already deployed on the blockchain how can a pull request be helpfull?
I think you are asking about smart contract updates? That's one of the topics we will cover in the bootcamp.

Good job 👍🏻
Is Solidity a C-like programming language?
Syntactically yes. But under the hood it's quite different.
