DDP was my favorite in WCW for the exact reasons described here. While many fans' favorites were Sting, Flair, Goldberg or the NWO in mid-late 90's WCW, DDP was my guy. He had great promos, natural charisma, the best finisher in the company and he worked harder than everyone else to pull out great matches in the upper card.

When he became Broken Matt, he not only created a character people adored but he created an entire universe of characters that helped to usher in a more cinematic wrestling product that kept fans interested even when the arenas were shut down due to COVID.
Chris Beniot has to be there somewhere. A small guy, no charisma, no handsome face, no crazy gimmick or mic skills. Just pure wrestling skill and toothless agression.
The biggest overachievers are Austin and Rock. In 95 no one predicted those guys would be who they are. Austin was getting fired from WCW and The Rock was getting cut from the CFL. By 98 they were bigger than Hogan Flair and Andre.
Dude, Mick Foley could get a pop walking into a walgreens. He is one of the most beloved wrestlers ever. He is a class act, i got to meet him earlier this month.

I think Logan Paul was definitely better than expected. When his WWE career first began, almost nobody (me included) thought he would be successful, but he took to wrestling like a duck to water. He is awesome in the ring and on the mic. I think The New Day fits that mold as well. When there gimmick first started, nobody thought the group would amount to much, but they changed fans minds with their comedy and great matches and are one of the greatest teams in WWE history.
I always remember when Miz drove everyone nuts on Real World saying he was going to be a wrestler one day and i liked him then tho he was annoying lol but to see that he actually made his dream come true and is STILL doing his thing I love it!! I will always be a fan of his no matter what he does. I wasn’t always a big fan of Bryan but he grew on me after a while… the yes movement needed to happen because I definitely got tired of them treating Bryan like garbage after all he was doing in the ring…he deserved that moment

You could see he was money even back then before his wwf move, could go, fairly decent promo and had a look similar to Stan Hanson. I'm not a Bradshaw fan by any means but when I very first watched him up close live I knew he'd be champion in a major company 1 day.

I find that Canadian wrestlers in the US are most prone to doing so much to be successful in the US. It's as if they all have the same mindset of working twice as hard as their American counterparts in order to achieve high levels of success. The latest example is Canadian wrestler Chelsea Green who was recently crowned the first WWE women's US Champion. Man did she bust her hump for this and never appeared discouraged. She just kept on "being extra" week after week until she won a richly deserved main title.

Hogan was turned into a superstar as soon as he defeated The Iron Sheik but The Rock was hated in 96 and everyone wanted him to go away and Cena was on the verge of being fired until he started rapping.
Chris jericho is arguably the goat. He has never ever taken breaks. Always working. Mic skills are top level. In ring skills are top level and he is still doing it in 2025. Everytime he steps in that ring he is one of the best in the world

Becky Lynch has gone from her early days as an underachiever to her current status as an overhyped stealer of other women's opportunities. There is a reason that I, and so many others, refer to her as Becky Hogan these days. So many deserving women will never get their full push in WWE if she's always around hogging title opportunities.
JBL was NEVER actually good tho. He's probably one of the guys who got pushed bc they pushed Pat.... Idk... Just a speculation. He did have a job with them as an agent for years. We all know that it's inevitable that some wrestlers got their push & were taken care of after wrestling bc they played the game with Pat (and others). We KNOW that has to be true. DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, The Miz and definitely Jeff Jarrett shouldnt have been on this list. James Elseworth should have though. A guy who was intended to be a one night only jobber but went on to have a program with the wwe champion. Thats definitely over achieving.
