1833 చార్టర్ చట్టం ప్రకరం 1835 లో లా కమిషన్ మెకాలే అధ్యక్షత న ఏర్పాటు అయింది, స్వతంత్ర భారత్ లో 1955 లో m c సేతాల్వడ్ చైర్మన్ గా మొదటి లా కమషన్ ఏర్పాటు అయింది, ప్రస్తుతం 22వ లా కమిషన్ ఛైర్మన్ రుతురాజ్ అవస్థి , లా కమిషన్ కి రెండు సార్లు చైర్మన్ గా పని చేసిన వారు గజేంద్ర గడ్కర్, k l Kapoor..
రిట్లు హైకోర్టు ఆర్టికల్ 226 ప్రకారం సుప్రీం కోర్టు ఆర్టికల్ 32 ప్రకారం జారీ చేస్తోంది, రిట్లూ జారీ విషయంలో న్యాయ పరిధి విషయంలో సుప్రీం కోర్టు కంటే హైకోర్ట్ కే ఎక్కువ అధికారాలు కలవు, ప్రాథమిక హక్కుల విషయంలో మాత్రమే సుప్రీం కోర్టు ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేయగా హై కోర్టు ప్రాథమిక హక్కుల తో పాటూ చట్టబద్దమైన అంశాల్లో కూడా రిట్స్ జారీ చేస్తుంది..
