It can't be on a different day, but I was wondering why they posted it only 3 weeks ago. The origin of it is that it's in honor of a Catholic priest named Valentine that married people in secret. He was executed on 2/14. He is now a Saint, so we're celebrating St. Valentine who died because he believed lovers shouldn't be banned from being married just because a king forbade it.

When I buy my wife roses on Valintine's day I always buy one dozen. I take one of the roses and give it to her mother. I then tell my wife that she (my wife) is the twelfth rose. They both love it. After we moved to another state, I continued to buy one dozen roses each year. However, after I purchased the roses I would give one to the lady that sold them to me and the remaining 11 to my wife, again telling her she was the 12th rose. Guys, you can never go wrong with this.
