Hi! I understand how the annotation method works! So the why is so the reader can understand what is being said in the chapter/article. As for the how, there’s lots of methods. Like underlining certain parts, or using different color high lighters like he did. It’s really to have a better understanding of what’s going on. Also to just point out what was interesting to them.
@@JadynPierson-di9bvI don’t annotate much but I do have one book I highlighted the heck out of. I did it all for the parts I look back at and laugh or love. So that pretty common too! Right?
I personally annotate or make notes of events that are significant and could hint towards the overall theme of the book and use it for an essay. I also like tabbing well-written sentences to look back on and inspire me in the future (studying the prose ).
I like to highlight quotes &descriptive language that help me further develop my writing style, as well as philosophical ideas/subtext/dialogue that I’d possibly want to go back & mull over in the future
That’s so cool! I love the idea of adding notes and drawings at the end of the chapter and drawings at the beginning of the book to represent each chapter! If only I had the courage to write in books lol
I reread book 2 and 3 this past summer and then just stopped for no reason? So I have book 3 to reread and then I'll be reading the rest of the series for the first time. I think this video means I should continue 😅🤣 great timing
Maybe it’s the librarian in me that has had to clean up other’s clutter way too often, but I can’t stand notes and scribbles in books. The wings were awesome though.
I don't really understand annotation so I would love to follow along. The only books I have ever highlighted are textbooks, and my part in a play script.
i only annotate some of my books, either if its really good or its really boring and i want something to do. i started to annotate more when i got my kindle and was highlighting a lot on that and i really liked it and decided to carry it over to my physical book reading. i dont annotate this heavily, i’ll just highlight and/or underline bits that make me feel emotion (e.g. they make me laugh or smile or make me sad or even cry) or that i feel like they might be important, sometimes im too lazy to annotate, sometimes im not, it kind of varies. i also dont use different colours for different things, i just use whatever colour i have on me at the time
When I highlight my book it looks like a toddler was given a highlighter and a book and started highlighting like everything and it's crazy But it slows down my readings so I actually catch in the book
Uhh all I did was write when I felt like it and then I put a sticky note where the oracles thing was when I finish the series (I’m on book 4) I wanna reread it and annotate it
I guess I don’t get why people would annotate such an easy read. When I write in books it’s usually Shakespeare or something that’s hard to comprehend so I need to make notes to remind myself what I just read or comments explaining the passage
I do it, each time I read, I underline, highlight and write notes in the margins. Also definitions I don't know help... Ive been doing it forever, I am always reading and trying to keep learning.
I've never done it. Too much of a mental hangup about "defacing" books. Probably because so many books I have read over the years have come from the library. Even books I buy I feel like a custodian rather than an owner. But this would be fun to try with a big, complicated, fantasy novel.
I don't annotate books for a good number of reasons. 1. I don't have the tools 2. I like to keep my books clean and in their original state 3. My handwriting and drawing skills SUCKS 4. I would spend so much of my time annotating, that I'd end up reading so much slower than I already do 😭 However I do see the appeal. It must help remember the story a lot more and it would be fun to see your first thoughts when re-reading, seeing what theories and what not you had and see how ridiculously dumb you were.
Noooooo goooo I would die if my book get destroyed because of annotations. If I want to mark something I would write it on my iPad with name of book and site, then the notes. No writing or marking on books 📚. It’s a no-go
Well, it's good it isn't your book then, isn't it :D! He owns the book, he can do what he wants, there's enough copies out there that it's okay to do so. Plus, it's not like this is a rare copy, you can find it often enough that it also isn't a worry. Would I personally annotate books ? No, but I'm just not much of a note-taker full stop. He's enjoying the book, and it isn't destroying the book, it's building character. For you, yes. For him, no. Both our comments here are unnecessary, but still :]
@@cakesniffer1010 Idk, for fun? Did you not annotate things in english class or whatever class when reading stories and trying to highlight/mark important information or words you relate to, etc
So you can go back and enjoy your favorite parts again or write what you felt during a specific portion. I like to write what I think will happen with a pencil sometimes, and when I reach the end, it's fun to see how wrong or right I was.
I usually dont annote fiction. But nonfiction, especially history - yes! My sister tells a stoŕy of how she and her boyfriend passed my bedroom door and saw me sprawled o. My bed, with at least three open books around me. I was busy making notes in two of them. Her boyfriend asked if iI did this on a nòrmal basis. "Oh yes, " sheanswer3d.all the time." Another sister gave me an e-reader one year. It was loaded with a hundred classic books. She told me I could delete them if I wanted. I told her that no, I wanted to keep them. "But they're classics!" "Uh huh," I answered."I want to read the ones Ihaven't yet." She walked away, shaking her head. As I read "Beowulf", I discovered a real problem with e-readers. You can't write notes in the margins!
I have infinite respect for people who are able write in books. I COULD NEVER. ESPECIALLY with a book like Percy Jackson. It’s too special to me
I know same I feel like I would mess it up
