She stops because it's too painful. She usually goes back at some point and then they usually come out easier. It's like the blackhead recedes after it's been pushed on and sometimes loosens the impaction so the next attempt comes out more smoothly. If that makes sense.
Like, totally! This 'official' tool of the APPA (American Pimple Popping Association) is _so_ inefficient that you end up causing *_more_* skin trauma than you would have incurred if you just went in and squeezed 'em like they're begging to be squeezed!!
AMEN! I thought I was the only one, like damn doc just take the time to do a nice hard squeeze a 2 or 3 times on each side of the nose and boom you're done!!
This patient is a rock star! The nose is such a difficult place because of the cartilage, bone, crevices and the shape. There’s really not much to push against, and he sat like a champ. Props to him.
A steamer or even a hot cloth to soak over the nose before doing this to loosen the pores up would make it SO much easier and much more satisfying to watch! And hey, why not a little topical lidocaine before getting started?

I personally like the blackhead removal vs the cyst removal, the blackheads are more relaxing then the blood and digging out the sac of the cyst. The blackheads are more satisfying.

Last time I went to my dermatologist, my PA told me that new studies are showing that skin-picking actually runs in families, so they think it has a genetic component of some kind. And I think most of the people who enjoy these videos are pickers themselves, my theory.
I think it's a cleansing thing. We see people who need this procedure and can't do anything because we don't know them well enough. By watching this type of 'maintenance' it satisfies our subconscious need to improve the people's lives around us by ridding them of affliction.

Then we experience a sort of sympathy relief when we see other people being cleansed. It reminds us of what it feels like when we experience it firsthand.
You know you have rewatched this video many, many times when you anticipate Dr.Lee’s comments, the background noises (like the nursing station chime), and the other doctors speaking in the background.

I totally agree. Im so disappointed that this is the only "Mr.Wilson" video available and it has been so edited that its missing a lot of great extractions.i don't know why his other videos are no longer available. I used to watch them consistently.
I've watched Pops and Mr. Wilson's blackhead extractions so many times I've lost count. When I was a teenager there were no comodone extractors so I used a "bobby pin" and it worked very well. If I saw a tiny pimple or blackhead I had to get it out or it would drive me crazy. Even if I see someone on t.v. who has something on his or her face that may be a pimple I imagine getting it out so they will look nice and clean. And I am 77 years old!!!! I have always had and still do get compliments on my skin because there isn't a blemish on it!!! Before bed every night I washed my face with ivory soap and rinsed it by splashing cold water on my face. Then I would put Knoxzema on it. The next morning I splashed my face with cold water again and I was ready to go. Even in high school none of the girls wore make-up except lipstick from 1953 to 1957. Dr. Lee, I learn from you every day. Recently I was told I had a lipoma on my leg and I replied, "I know what a lipoma is, it is a benign bunch of fatty cells much like a chicken cutlet". Actually, he does get a facial like that at one of his visits. They clean his face with a facial brush and use steam and everything. And afterwards she does some more extractions.
When I see a good spot, I patiently wait for the doctor to see it. I feel anxious when she doesn't get it in that clip and I get a little annoyed. Then I see another good spot. And if she gets to it in that scene then I feel slightly satisfied with myself even though I've done absolutely nothing but watch and judge.

I love Mr Wilson....he reminds me of an old soldier WW 2. I befriended. We became friends and he was like my father. I took control of his well being. He would steer every one to me. I worked for a politician. Over the years he relied me. Well he had a similar nose as this chap. I couldn't stand it so I worked up to changing things. I changed a few things for him over years. I think to us it looks like it was easy for him to talk but when you think about it, she had her hands over his mouth too and maybe he didn't feel comfortable talking because of that, kinda like when you're at the dentist
Dr. Sandra Lee's videos are the only ones I enjoy watching. She knows her stuff, does a thorough job, explains what she is doing and has a great bedside manner. I appreciate her professionalism and her personality. I also like getting to know the patients a little bit. Carry on and keep popping!
Many years ago I worked in a salon and we did fancy facials that would occasionally need pimple extractions. We were supposed to only do it if asked. When I had a client with bad skin, the other workers had to literally kick me out of the facial room and take the extraction tool from me..lol. I would have kept the clients there all day..haha.

+Kamelah LaMarque try using some kind of acid exfoliator. it takes longer to notice results, but it's more gentle on your skin. something with a low concentration BHA like salicylic acid works well for acne/blackheads/sebaceous filaments.

Gurl... you must've been in heaven with this one... Soo satisfying to watch... I especially love when the contents pops right out and it leaves a hole, it means you got it all... Don't break it before it's time, be sure to get it all
So, as a fanatic about my own pores, I have found that it's a ton easier to remove filaments and black heads by even just putting an oil on my face and saturating it, I typically use rose hip oil. The junk usually expresses so much easier than dry like this. Also, oil and some steaming would go a long way to ease some of the discomfort, I feel. Is it just not practical to do in a dermatologist office?

It is too painful. It is easier to pop the simple ones, desensitize the skin and try to go back to the more complicated extractions.

I totally agree. Im so disappointed that this is the only "Mr.Wilson" video available and it has been so edited that its missing a lot of great extractions.i don't know why his other videos are no longer available. I used to watch them consistently.
Check out Enlisa on UA-cam. She's sooo good!!! Lots of black head videos and I feel she's more effective at cleaning the skin. She uses q tips to pop.

I have watched these videos at least 100x!!
I've watched Pops and Mr. Wilson's blackhead extractions so many times I've lost count. When I was a teenager there were no comodone extractors so I used a "bobby pin" and it worked very well. If I saw a tiny pimple or blackhead I had to get it out or it would drive me crazy. Even if I see someone on t.v. who has something on his or her face that may be a pimple I imagine getting it out so they will look nice and clean. And I am 77 years old!!!! I have always had and still do get compliments on my skin because there isn't a blemish on it!!! Before bed every night I washed my face with ivory soap and rinsed it by splashing cold water on my face. Then I would put Knoxzema on it. The next morning I splashed my face with cold water again and I was ready to go. Even in high school none of the girls wore make-up except lipstick from 1953 to 1957. Dr. Lee, I learn from you every day. Recently I was told I had a lipoma on my leg and I replied, "I know what a lipoma is, it is a benign bunch of fatty cells much like a chicken cutlet". Actually, he does get a facial like that at one of his visits. They clean his face with a facial brush and use steam and everything. And afterwards she does some more extractions.

When I see a good spot, I patiently wait for the doctor to see it. I feel anxious when she doesn't get it in that clip and I get a little annoyed. Then I see another good spot. And if she gets to it in that scene then I feel slightly satisfied with myself even though I've done absolutely nothing but watch and judge.

For one, I don’t like the mustard seeds, but also it is super satisfying like you’re popping someone’s pimples for real, haha! More like popping out milia though, but still.. you gotta try it!

I love Mr Wilson....he reminds me of an old soldier WW 2. I befriended. We became friends and he was like my father. I took control of his well being. He would steer every one to me. I worked for a politician. Over the years he relied me. Well he had a similar nose as this chap. I couldn't stand it so I worked up to changing things. I changed a few things for him over years. Many years ago I worked in a salon and we did fancy facials that would occasionally need pimple extractions. We were supposed to only do it if asked. When I had a client with bad skin, the other workers had to literally kick me out of the facial room and take the extraction tool from me..lol. I would have kept the clients there all day..haha.

+Kamelah LaMarque try using some kind of acid exfoliator. it takes longer to notice results, but it's more gentle on your skin. something with a low concentration BHA like salicylic acid works well for acne/blackheads/sebaceous filaments.

So, as a fanatic about my own pores, I have found that it's a ton easier to remove filaments and black heads by even just putting an oil on my face and saturating it, I typically use rose hip oil. The junk usually expresses so much easier than dry like this. Also, oil and some steaming would go a long way to ease some of the discomfort, I feel. Is it just not practical to do in a dermatologist office?
