Aidan, I agree this is an excellent tool! I don't feel threatened by it as a bass player. I am still waiting for an offering though like Vocaloid by YAMAHA.
Man, I'm a Bass player, and I already bought EZDrummer3, and I am sitting here in awe over EZBass, even tho I would rather play it, this as a tool for creating bass lines is just awesome in itself.
I'm using it now and it´s amazing. I already saw something else I think would level up the worjflow (if it's not that it is already there and don't know how to use it) It would be the ability to take over the chord track and the arrange track of the daw, so I don't have to do it all over again as I always put the chords and the arrangement in my cubase session for each song, so it would save me tons of time

As a guitarist with very small hands that also have mild arthritis, I really struggle to record great bass tracks for my songs. To be able to drop-in a sloppy bass track audio file and have it converted to a perfectly played EZBass file is going to be a game-changer for my music.

Dead.Skin.Mask well if it’s played sloppy it’ll have a sloppy feel but yea you could sync with drums OR if arthritis is your issue, you could keep your finger on one note, play that one note for every note in the song with rhythm and feel. Then manually change the notes once it’s midi.

Wombat, everything you said is true. My comment is still true, as well. Although highly unlikely, Toontrack might say, “Gee, people are very impressed and think this should be priced higher. We haven’t released the price yet. Let’s add $100. Anything is possible.
Prominy is pretty good, but this has the finger style option, and seems very intuitive, as far as workflow.
My impressions of Ezbass after a few days of having purchased it: The sounds that come out of it are absolutely gorgeous. This is not emulated sound, it works with real audio samples and the bass articulations are just on point. As far as the interface, this is where things get a little not so good. After a bit you get the idea of what the tabs are about but when it comes to have the plugin talk to and interact with a host application ( DAW ), it gets messy. The first thing they have to fix is the playback function when using a host. If you for example press the play button within Ezbass, it will play whatever you are working on within it's interface, then out of mere habit ( because those habits makes us more productive ) you press the space bar to stop it, what happens is the DAW ( I use us Logic btw ) starts playing and Ezbass continues to play as well ( doesn't stop ) completely out of sync. Now you have two completely different playheads and sounds operating out of sync. That is very annoying, I have worked with other plugins like this one and the space bar simply synchronises both, the host and the plugin so that the experience is seamless and your workflow just flows. With Ezbass, you have to stop and figure out wth is going on and then fix it. That is a waste of productive time. There are commands within Ezbass, but if you try to assign the space bar to its playback function the plugin tells you that the command is in use, no surprise, Logic is using it, so you must have two different playback commands in your head and think about it before you hit any key. What I use a lot is the Tracker tab, because I want to create my own bass lines recording my guitar. This his took me a while to figure it out, now I kind of got the idea of how this feature works. It does a pretty decent job. One thing I would suggest is that they incorporate a punch in function so that if for some reason I want to repeat a bar or whatever without having to do it form scratch I could punch in-out. That option is not available, and if you try to record on top of your previous performance, it just gets deleted, like destructive behaviour. The only way to achieve what I mentioned is by assigning the part to the nimdi song area and then creating a new tracking session. Or at least that's what worked for me. So as you can see is not that straight forward and these are things you have to figure out messing around with the plugin. I don't really use this plugin for using automatically created bass lines, but I did try once to use this feature just to see it's capabilities. The window where you explore the groove is kind of messy, but I guess you can get used to it. What I found weird is that you can't write extended chords in the plugin. The only chords allowed to be presented in the song area are natural major or minor chords. I'm not that advance with music theory but to my understanding if I use extended chords, that could potentially change the complexity of the bass line used. The other thing about the plugin is it eats a ton of CPU. power. I've gotten my whole Logic session completely frozen when using Ezbass to the point that I had to force the DAW to quit and lost all my pre-recorded bass lines. Right now I'm on a session where every single time I click on the Options tab ( using tracker ) my computer get frozen. Even when I open Ezbass as a standalone unit. Literally, I touch the Option tab with my mouse and my computer crashes. It is very frustrating, I spend so much time watching that Apple little circle showing me how all is frozen. The other big turnoff is the customer support. I sent them a message about three days ago and the do not respond. And that is really not good. So, go figure. Do I recommend this plugin?, yes if you are patient and are willing to put up with inconsistencies like the ones I mentioned before. Now, if you can make it work you will not be disappointed by the quality sound of your bass. The plugin has potential and I really hope the put the work on improving the end user experience. Oh, and I hope they answer my emails too.

If "Follow Host" is activated in EZbass pressing the Space bar starts/stops both your DAW and the Song Track in EZbass all synced up. To control *only* the Song Track in the EZbass plugin window you either press Play in EZbass or opt+Space both for playing and stopping.

I've been looking for something like EZBass for YEARS - in terms of audio quality, features and easy to use interface - and now I'm so excited it's just around the corner! Nowadays I can't see myself writing songs without EZD and EZMix, and it seems EZB will be my new addiction :)

I'm excited about all these new features but the most important thing is that it sounds really authentic and as alive as it is possible at the moment. There are a lot of great bass VSTs and libraries out there (my favourite so far were Scarbee Rickenbacker for Kontakt and Spectrasonics Trillian), but this one is really amazing in terms of details and nuances the bass has while playing live. Great job, Toontrack! My life as a composer basically started with your EZkeys software and you have never disappointed.
Wow, this does SO much more than I thought it was going to do. I wasn't planning on getting it and just continue with my average bass playing for recording, but I may have just changed my mind.

I just wanted to jump in on this thread so I could be the "young" guy for once, at 47.
The interface is a killer and the huge amount of controls you can have over every note is what is lacking in other bass plugins. I hope they can add the ability to sample or load in live bass in the future. I can't wait to buy this one. Pretty awesome.

Wow, this looks amazing. I REALLY wish they could create & implement these type features and deep articulation controls on a Horns product for Pop/R&B/Rock productions. But I doubt there'd be enough money/interest for the work it would take to create that. As someone who can play bass and records it myself, I'll prob never buy this product, but man do I applaud Toontrack for their constant evolution.
Seriously...I'm stuck in my house. Please release it sooner. I'll deal with a few bugs until 5/19.

Finally!!! A great bass library with an intuitive own interface to create slides and hammer with no need of annoying CC, keyswitches, etc. Excellent! Toontrack has been creating an independent midi editor for his products, maybe in a couple of years they will surprise us with a DAW :-D hahahaha. Greetings and excellent piece of art! I know it's been out 3 years but I just gave this a shot and I'm quite impressed. I see a use for this, just from a production standpoint. I can still play my bass parts but now I can nail that sound quickly. Next sale... I'm there...

@@zfalcon1 Yeah.... not really a fan. I think the sounds are too synthetic sounding. I've had some luck with Shreddage 3 but guitar is so nuanced and the distortion sounds never sound good even with third party plug-ins
@@scott7521 How about RealLPC 5? I got some great sounds out of it, the only thing it sucks at are palm mutes.

Q - When using EZbass in your Tracker project Setup > 'Exactly where' are you dragging the AUDIO from in your demo?
@Toontrack ; Are you dragging the audio directly from Pro Tools Edit window (if so where exactly?)..,
.., or - do you need to open a separate browser window for this and do a search for the actual audio file that you wish to load into the EZbass Tracker?
In the EZbass Tracker you can either record the audio, Click "Select Audio File" to browse existing files or drag an existing file into the Tracker.

Wow amazing product! This kind of work flow makes me so easy to write basslines. Hope there will be better conjunction among products of EZ lines to make patterns become more musical and more fascinating. Hope Toontrack will release EZGuitar soon and EZComposer maybe :v
So basically, I can write a bassline, record it with my guitar and put it through here. Then with a bit of editing, I simply have a solid bassline for homeproduction I could then put through an amp sim to get my preffered tone?

I am really looking forward to own this EzBass. Once you got an musical idea in your head and you only have the guitar part even though you got both EZ keys and SD3 you are pretty lost without a heavy bass line to "play" along in the solo part. Prior to this EZ bass I used the "bass" line from the EZ keys twerked it and it still was not right rhythm vise. Well Toontrack lets make some music. Long live Rock 'n' Roll

I wonder if I use SD3 and EZbass at the same time as VST’s if I could trigger both? I plan to assign bass notes around my drum set so I could play drum beats and bass lines at the same time.

I've been saving up for this one ever since I heard that it was in the works. It sounds amazing; the most realistic bass VST I've heard yet. I'd like to put an early request in for Dingwall and Music Man Stingray Bass EZX's if possible. That would be killer.
Not sure if it compete against Modo bass with sound, but sure with what you can do is far over that. The other bass makers really need to adjust their software. Like the future in ez bass is what every one has been looking for.
When can we expect an app for tablets and phones with the collection of ezbass , ezkey and ezdrummer. To do music, to be able to transfer to Mac or Pc.?

I have EZ bass and love it, but I am actually very interested to know what EZ Keys library and preset and any non default settings he uses in his country song at the 10 minute mark. It has a great stereo field and I would buy it if you could tell me.
