  • UPDATE 6/2022 !!!
    Canam makes a bracket that installs over the previous bracket that has the powering steering part on it. You can then install your solenoid on that added bracket.
    I couldn’t find many references on installing a Badland 3500 winch (or any winch) on a 2018 Can Am Outlander 450 DPS. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for sharing....I’m looking at the aftermarket winch I bought and your presentation cleared up a number of questions. Good job!

    I am glad I bought the Superwinch made for the Can-Am. Suppose to be plug'n'play, bolt on, no drilling, cutting or splicing required.

      How did it work out for you?

      @@danielcampbell3321 Still to cold (N.W. Montana) to be working in the garage for an hour or two. Maybe this weekend when it is suppose to be in the 50s. I will believe that when I see that. Maybe I will just get started. I am awful curious myself on how it is going to turn out, especially since I came with a wired remote that will have to be fitted somehow.

      @@danielcampbell3321 Wow! I just finished and it took me over 5 hours. The Superwinch Terra 25 was great. Everything was cut to length. The ONLY problem was the controls worked backwards. BRPs very detailed instructions had the green/black wires to the Solenoid reversed. I went to the superwinch instructions that were supplied in the box, and saw the green/black were backwards. Now it is perfect. BUT what a PITA to install. Everything is very tight and was a struggle to route and get tucked out of the way. All in all, I am happy, saved several hundred, and very likely I did a better job then the shop could have done. Now it is onto installing the ProMount plow!

    If you mounted the solenoid in back box, you dont have to ground the solenoid to anything metal?

    • @RogerF

      I want to say its grounded near the winch. Dont quote me though

      @@RogerF@James Wise for the record, the Can-Am branded winch comes with a bracket to mount the solenoid. It attaches to the bracket that Roger tried to use, but brings it out past the existing solenoid. You can see it in this video.ua-cam.com/video/6bhU4euNo5k/v-deo.html
      Granted, the Can-Am branded winch costs over $300 compared to around $100 for the Badland.

    Did you have to drill holes on the plate on atv to fit the winch plate that came with the winch? Also, which winch did you go with?

    • @RogerF
      @RogerF  4 роки тому

      Hi! I did not have to drill any holes anywhere. I used a Badlands Winch 3500lb.

      I just installed the same 3500lb badlands winch from harbor Freight on my 2019 outlander 450 and mounting bolt pattern was perfect, I didn’t need the supplied mounting plate that came with my winch, my outlander does not have power steering (dang) so I had plenty of room to hide excess wire and solenoid..

      Excellent! The power steering takes some getting use to but I like it. Thankfully Can Am’s is adjustable. Minimum, medium, and max.

      You don't need the plate to mount the winch the ATV already has the pre drilled holes the plate serves no purpose on this atv
