Interesting I used Scotchguard to protect my new fedora from water and stains. I may look into this stuff but I think the only difference between Scotchguard and this stuff is that this can also do leather and I'm pretty sure Scotchguard can't be used for leather. Does the spray your using protect from stains? Like say my hat gets blown off and lands in something that will stain it will this spray protect my hat from such things? I'm a retired carpet cleaner and I know a lot about stains and Scotchguard most stains can be removed pretty easily if the fabrics been scotch guarded and you clean it off right away. When I tell people that I was or am a stain master the question I get asked about most is. How do you remove mustard stains? The answer is simply you can't because mustard is a dye or has a dye in it, so the stain is not actually a stain it's been dyed and that means the only way to remove it is to dye it back to the same colour. I also often get asked how to remove candle wax from a carpet or from fabrics this one is fun to do. Just grab some unwaxed paper bags then iron the bag on the wax this will turn it into a waxed paper bag, it really does work and its' very easy to do. In any case, I've always wondered if Scotchguard can protect from mustard for a minute or so just long enough to remove it, I think it's time for an experiment lol. Thanks for the video.
I sprayed a can of Scotchgard on a wool army greatcoat and wool felt hat. It worked for years. They need rewaterproofing now, but I'm going to use nikwax or pure beeswax spray instead, because scientists discovered that now we all have scotchgard in our blood... So since it's definitely going to get inside my body, I'd rather use something natural.
Nah personally I buy cheap wide brimmed straw hats non waterproof and I just get duct tape on both sides and then I cover the whole thing so any hair doesn’t get wet and I put a few layers on and put some tape on and there we go

Nikwax is a non toxic alternative and works great

I have a leather fold up hat by minnetonka and under the brim is the raw leather. Should I also apply the spray to the inside of my hat? Thanks.

Yes, I waterproof some of my dressy felt hats with it too sometimes during the rainy seasons in canada
This video is why I bought the nikwax from you rather than the jungle site. Now I am confident I can waterproof my straw hat correctly.
Does the solution change the color of cloth or suede?
No but make sure you spray from a distance of about 12 inches or 30 cm and the smooth it in a bit with a clean rag then let it dry
