Double border. Easy start. Three magic steps

  • Edit: I missed an important info when working the first round of the double border. Really sorry for that
On each side (left and right of your project, where you have tails) you have to work single crochet into each stitch, BUT on top and bottom (the first and the last rows of your project) you have to skip the first and the last stitches before or after the corner. Hope that makes sense. I will prepare a written file and as soon as it is ready, will add a link here in comments.
Written instructions and couple free border charts now on Ravelry as well (all updates, if any, will be posted there) www.ravelry.co...
Double border for overlay mosaic crochet in rows. Easy, fast & neat. No back post stitches, no slip stitches needed to start your double border
    The video includes:
    Overview
Magic Step 1 - How to start your project. 2:55
Magic Step 2 - How to work the first and the last stitches on each row 11:05
Do l need a smaller size hook for a border 17:43
Magic Step 3 - How to work the first round of a double border 20:40
How to work the last round of your border 33:28
When using this technique please do not forget to add the link to this video tutorial or to mention "Double border. Easy start. Three Magic steps by BebaBlanket on UA-cam". Thank you!

This is such a game changer! I've loved double boarders for a long time, but HATE starting them. I've tried multiple methods and invented several of my own...but none of them came even close to as easy as this looks! THANKYOU!

A suggestion for working the i-cord, instead of guessing the tail length use both ends of the yarn, inside and outside. tie them together in a slip knot and work as usual.

Im always impressed and touched by people, from all over the world, who go to so much trouble to explain their amazing techniques in crochet (and knitting), and then make it available for us for free! So much to learn, so uplifting. Thank you

I , too , appreciate ladies and gents sharing quite unique skills and designs - their heart of arts - from all over the world. I am not afraid to watch a video with a foreign title or foreign language spoken in it. My eyes can read every word their hands are saying.
All except two of the gazillion videos I've watched, and saved to my library, were not good at lighting, or showing, and demonstrating pertinent points throughout their filming. I dare say many of them are much better than any English as a first language speakers. It is true that English as a second language speakers , EASLs, are in fact from countries where there is much more oral tradition and the tradition of passing on handskills, handcrafted arts, attention to details... it's as if the love of and for the ancestors and of their lands is being passed down through generations and is sacrosanct. It's like they are loving us and showing us the hospitality of their hearts. They love their arts and they love to present it to the world.

My tip for working into the back bump of the chain is to make the chain with a bigger hook and then switch to a smaller one, and the bumps are easier to enter.

Hello, it’s a very good way to start this border… I’ve learned a log time ago to start this border with a row of half double crochet all around the blanket than use the back loop for the back side of the border and the front loop for the front side, works very well to😊
