Excited to use Graphmarks, this is something I've wanted for awhile so this opens a whole new way of charting the different spheres and context of my PKM world

Dear Nick, I wanted to express my gratitude for teaching us the LYT method of note-making. This technique has been incredibly beneficial to me, as it has enabled me to approach my thinking from a different perspective and has resulted in increased creativity and efficiency. Your efforts in teaching and sharing this valuable tool are much appreciated, and I encourage you to keep up the great work!

Bookmarks are just another form of categorization. I like Nicks method of categorization using Maps of Content. To use MoC is to do the categorization inside the Markdown, which is future proof and easily exported. Using bookmarks to create categories tangles up your content with the Obsidian user interface, making it harder to export the full meaning of your notes in future.
I like the starred feature, because I can star a couple of different MoC for quick access. But the actual logic of categorization is all done in markdown within my MoC pages

Yep, Maps of Content are the best way to do it! I'm finding the ability to save searches and graph filters nice though

Bookmarks make it a lot more Notion-like. I'm loving it. Can structure my notes how I want now

I got the same impression like you do when the bookmarks first came out. Then I started to think what I can use bookmarks for. I came up using bookmark groups as different projects I need to work on. I can save heading, note, canvas related to a project inside the group. And it's really flexible! If I'm done with the project, I just simply remove the group. Plus, I can open every items inside a group just like an alternative way of using workspace!

I'm loving bookmarks. I have notes that are 5 levels deep, that I can now access within a couple of clicks. 🙂

Nice one on saving searches and graphs, I can see a use for that. Otherwise, all will remain links I think for my main vault. For a project vault of mine, this allows another way to organize things...may consider giving it a shot. Thanks as always, Nick!

It seems small, but both saved searches and saved graphs can now play a bigger role in workflows

I like the Hemingway points idea - feels like the most like the most natural use of bookmarks and it's something currently missing from my workflow. Might also be useful for some kind of note collection process before writing something new - a bit like a Canvas but with no 'assembly' required.

I've been contemplating Obsidian for several years. Like mindmappers, I am strangely attracted to it and keep gravitating back struggling to find a place for it in my productive tool lineup but never have been able to. It seems so potentially useful. But no matter how much I try to like it it ends up being too Zen for me and not enough of a real productivity improvement. Yes, maybe you can map a snapshot of your brain connections after hours and hours of building, but then what? Maybe I am looking for the wrong benefit and it is not so much a productivity tool as something to stimulate your cerebral function. However, I do want to compliment you on your clear presentations and the level of excitement you clearly derive from making the videos. You are an excellent teacher.

Bookmarks allowed me to eliminate the MoCs I created for Projects.
Reserving my MoCs for deep and permanent wells of knowledge while permitting the Bookmarks to ebb & flow with the status of each Project which minimizes my folder and file hierarchy.
Bookmarks also add efficiency to my Project Management in that I can open all of the Bookmarked files in a Project Group with a single click.

Now that I think about this, this will be extremely helpful for when you’re writing any long drafts and you want to just bookmark the last section that you were working on. I already kinda do this by using #Recent
So that I would know how to get back to where I last left off in my writing to open the app, but this is very similar to that if I use bookmarks. I still may use tag still but I like this idea.

Hi Nick. I'm new to digital PKM and Obsidian. Is there a way to link to bookmarks so that I can create a MOC that assembles links to notes as well as bookmarks? I ask this because the way I use bookmarks in Obsidian is how I use bookmarks in the analogue way, that is to attach bookmarks to specific pages or paragraphs in books. I don't usually create stand-alone notes for every interesting idea I come across in a book I'm reading but I want to be able to assemble and retrieve interesting ideas from various sources when I am working on an academic article. Thanks for your help. Keep up the excellent work!

Stars are for items to be accomplished today or this week. Bookmarks seem more like hashtags than stars. What can the bookmark do that the hashtag cannot?

Great question, I believe the best answer is "Not yet, but soon". Since it's still an Insiders Release, it hasn't synced for me yet, but I have no doubts it will any day now.....
