Thanks for this analysis on PDI! Those MBS holdings are indeed the main risk, but previous specific issues (like the credit crisis of 2007/2008) rarely repeat themselves (due to evolving laws and market) -- every black swan is different. I'm DCA'ing in PDI towards the bottom, building up passive, monthly income (and compounding faster as the price per share drops). If you're able to time the bottom of PDI, you lock in 14+ % yield for as long as you hold your shares (or as long PDI remains listed and doesn't cut the dividend, of course).
Have this at the back of your mind. there are good days and there are bad days it’s a zero sum game, However always follow the tips ,save and invest wisely and make sure to diversify investments so when another is down the other is up. you can do so by getting an experienced firm whose platform has diverse investment choices to choose from. By doing this you give little room for regrets and perhaps gain more.
Great tips, Generally diversification is a kind factor Don’t put your eggs in one basket. pragmatically I have been into all of this for some time, though I won’t say I have made or lost some fortune. Do you mind recommending a firm whose platform has diverse investing choices? Quite rare I anticipate your response.
This is the second time I’m coming across the firm last week I saw a telecast on economic bubble there are testimonies about how the earn with their strategy though I need to make more research ,I’m still skeptical Do you work with them?
Absolutely loving your channel. I have always been on the long term growth side of investing but you’ve really opened up my eyes to a new way of investing. Didn’t know it was possible to get so much in dividends. Thanks for the great content.
What do you think of the rumors on Lumen (LUMN) possibly cutting it's div? and have you done any vids on USOI and GLDI, they recently went thru a 20:1 split. Thx.
The stock market behaves the way it does, because there will always be people who: - sell at highs bringing it down - panic sell due to it dropping, bringing it lower - buy at the lows, bringing it back up - buy back in while it's rising
Trying to anticipate a change in the market will tend to go wrong more times than it goes right. Remember, market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. if the market is ranging, trade the range and if the market is trending you should as well trade the trend.
I want to build a diversified portfolio based on my person, I am easily triggered/highly emotional and that could be detrimental to my portfolio. I wish i am patient and systematic person. day trading is not for everyone and multiyear holding is not for everyone. i know my strengths thats why i need proper guidance to be able to venture.

I am a longterm investor of PDI. PDI is a good fund but had some ups and downs. the fund merged PCI and PKO some time ago. The fund will recover since it's one of the biggest pimco funds. I am positive of my holdings.
too much debt held by US govt and corporations nowadays (compared to early 80s), no way we are going to see interest rates anywhere near 18% like in the early 80s, it would collapse the economy and destroy the federal govt.
Since the price is close to all time lows I'm gradually adding to my position and my average cost is below $18.7. In my view it can't go much lower if you believe interest rate hikes are largely behind us. That means potentially a 30-40% upside if it goes back to long term averages...and with the dividend covered its a no brainer to me
You made the comment that PDI hasn't had a special dividend since 2019? What do I see in the dividend history for Dec,14,2022? It says $0.65 only 5 days after the normal$0.22 dividend.
what's the point in holding instead of buying a high dividend yield stock? As the dividend yield is over 14% if you buy it now in one year time you would have made a considerable amount of money in dividends from this stock
At what price you think it will be able to recover? 25? My interest is to preserve the capital allocation, with this interest i will be buying a cash flow machine that reinvested will be very dificult to beat. What are your thought or the comunity?
Thank you for the excellent video! the NAV price of PDI is going down... Could it be because the fund is paying return of capital instead of income? In this case they will reduce the amount of dividends at any time.
Good video on PDI. I used to own PCI but it got merged with PDI. Still holding on, div is safe for now. Like you said the pullback is linked to rate hikes which should end as inflation tapers off.
You’re missing the most important part of falling NAV. PDI PDO and PTY are doing credit spreads for income. They borrow on short duration loans and invest into long duration loans - which works perfectly well until the yield curve inverts and short term loans become more expensive than long term loans which squeezes their profits. Also, you don’t need to wait until the fed pivots, market prices in interest rates a long time in advance, by the time they pivot you’re far behind
@@mikefa2442 I should have clarified that I own PDI PDO PTY and NBB as well, however I treat all the risks above as a good entry point - I was just trying to clarify the risks Aside from these I like a bunch of CEFs like JGGI BME BST UTG (although I wouldn’t buy UTG just yet) that use leverage as well and some popular ones that get discussed a lot like WPC CTO MAIN JEPI DIVO

Buying this one at the discount . But i think november will be the last interest hike due to the damge and quickness of the hikes . The hikes have been the largest in history over a short period of time and most analyst see massive effects coming soon from this
Lol. The Fed is a coward just like other central banks. They will stop soon. Or the whole thing would collapse. Disgusting what they have done. Printing trillions and now high interest rates can't support mountains of debts
The Dividend Bull......The real Bull!!!!
Thank you for the video, I am always watching to ensure a dividend is sustainable over the long-term… this is most important for me as a DGI investor…

Is it better to put this stock in a roth ira vs a taxable account ?? Ive bern wanting to buy this but not sure where to place it
Better in a Roth because the dividends are taxable. They can’t become qualified due to where and what it invests in.
Your video just caused me to buy 5 shares
At what price you think it will be able to recover?
25?
My interest is to preserve the capital allocation, with this interest i will be buying a cash flow machine that reinvested will be very dificult to beat.

The dividend pays out after the expense ratio. You're still getting 14%.
Comprehensive video. I like it ! 😊
Thank you for the excellent video! the NAV price of PDI is going down... Could it be because the fund is paying return of capital instead of income? In this case they will reduce the amount of dividends at any time.
Nope, there is no return of capital in the payout. Rising interest rates are primarily responsible for the price decline.
You should do a video on GDV it's a good dividend fund that I haven't seen anyone talking about
GDV is trading at a 40%+ premium lately, and 90%+ of the income in recent years from it is return of capital, e.g. your own money coming back to you.
PDI has a very high 2.64% expense ratio.
On my radar. Thanks
Great video! Can you please do RA? As far as I can tell, it is superior to GOF and PDI. Thanks!

If PDI's portfolio is down as much as the S&P 500, and they are using significant leverage, then that is pretty good stock picking.
