I like how sonic can easily fall into the lava during normal gameplay but he only dies from it when in a cutscene
Unless the player loses rings and fails to get one back before the hiding portion, this doesn't make sense! No if Sonic had no rings, then it would. The devs should make the game check to see if Sonic has rings during the cutscene. If he has at least one, then Sonic actually gets saved and continues onto a new act. His fate there will depend on if he loses a life or not as it will also make Sonic's life counter go down to 1 for that act.

First of all, Yes Sonic gets burned in lava whether you have rings or not, but the problem is that this is a full field of Metal Eyed which makes it hard to counter the part. It should have gone from the number of rings to 0, but it didn't, because of the .ROM Debugger.
@@TurboTH_Official Good point. If there's no ring check for an alternate ending, then it should set the counter to 0.

Nah it just means it’s more unique and original than the 100000 sonic exe games with slightly different story
ngl, these feel like shovelware now. with every sound and effect added because another exe game used it.
Sonic PC port and OMR are exceptions as they revived the EXE game genre, adding new visuals and generally good scares to make something special.
but this? this is yet a repeat of what happened to the original EXE game from way back when.
exe game releases > people play it > bad copied get pumped out like shovelware. (nightmare beginning, spirits of hell and whatever the heck caused Hyper Kaotis to exist)

absolutely, this suffers from what I call the "OH NO HE'S TOO STRONG" trope
Not only does this portray Knuckles as an absolute Coward who doesn't even try to fight, he ends up pulling the classic "OH NO I CAN'T GET THROUGH THE DOOR" despite the fact he could very easily punch it down.
It feels very, very, very cliche

I think that the “he’s too strong trope could be easily overthrown in reality. Tails knows many of sonics moves and most likely had more than enough time to find out at least one of sonics weaknesses, knuckles has the master emerald so this dude can just use that, and robotnik has like 80 different robotic sonics like silver sonic, mecha sonic mark 1, mark 2 mark 3, metal sonic, neo metal sonic, metal overlord the red metal sonic from knuckles chaotix, metal knuckles, egg robo which both aren’t really metal sonic but I’ll put them in cause yeah he got fucking grounder, the strongest badnik ever and he has his vehicles who he can put the egg robo’s in as he uses the death egg robot or dragoon, or get the emeralds and give it to grounder so he can go ape shit on who ever the exe is, if the oh no he’s too powerful trope is still there, I have perfect solutions for them all, as soon as tails see something wrong, he just gotta go back to the tornado and assuming that he’s there cause sonic told him, just say “oh hey sonic can’t come today I got gonareha from eating a donut made by knuckles, fucking god my dick hurts , anyways sonic ima go and prob watch tv, see ya tomorrow” and boom, exe is like, well he will probably die ill just move on to knuckles, but knuckles can counter this dude very easily, 50 rings, find seven big rings, weaken exe with master emerald, beat the shit out of exe with the gems, cus he gonna fucking go ape shit if he goes super, so just bash his head in with the fucking gem, that’s easy as fuck, and robonik is the exact same thing as before, “yo knuckles can I borrow the emeralds I need to kill sonic” boom he gets the emeralds and uses them on grounder to make him stronger, and kill exe once and for all
