Masters of the Universe - “The Power of the Evil Horde!” Mattel book, performed like an 80s cartoon!

In 1985, Mattel released this read-along book and cassette tape with Hordak and Grizzlor special double package! This book was illustrated by the very famous Bruce Timm, before he was the show runner for “Batman: The Animated Series.” The original recording is on UA-cam, and if you look it up, you may think I used it as a template to make this…but I didn’t even listen to it before I made it!! It’s crazy how similar they sound and it’s totally by coincidence and experience of knowing the show…lol.

Thanks for posting these. I have been having my kids watch them. I was a little bit too old for HeMan back when it came out, but I was young enough to appreciate it. I have really gotten into MotU recently as my children are the target age.
I worked at Childrens Palace and always appreciated the wall of HeMan figures at the back of aisle 3.

What a great mini-comic read along you did, those pages look very outstanding from this comic, Lord Hordak came to Eternia to take other Castle Grayskull, once he was a mentor to Skeletor. Who knew that arch enemy of He-Man had joined with him to stop Hordak

I've watched videos of people reading some of these books, and despite the voice acting being nothing like the show, or the music being as good, I'd play the soundtrack on my phone. I'd even pause the videos at points to read the lines in my mind and hear the voices of the characters from the show.

Not a bad job, but I used to have this. I distinctly remember it already had the exact same actors and BGM as the cartoon.

Yeah this was a rare one with having the original actors..for some reason the music could never be used anywhere but the 80s cartoon, so I wanted to remake this with that in mind! Thanks for checking it out!

I still think Skeletor is better (and potentially more powerful) villain then Hordak. And were was She-Ra when she could have helped?
