At least he died to his biggest enemy in Lockdown. Ironhide got so much worse. For me, I loved it.
It felt like Lockdown was paying him back for all the defeats he suffered at Rachet's hands.

I watched this when I was still in Elementary School (June 24th 2014). And what is ironic was the fact that it was my first time in the cinema. I mean, MAN! I'm still so young to understand the reason behind his death, yet it felt so painful in my heart when I watched it. I even got teary in the cinema

Well at first they think Lockdown's a Decepticon because a big scary robot who's hunting Ratchet sounds like a Decepticon. It's not until he talks about Autobots and Decepticons in 3rd person, that's when they understand Lockdown is a neutral figure.
