They are probably mostly 14. A few might still be 13, depending if this is from December or May and their birth month. This is life though, and you probably didn't have the same opportunity.
That attitude is the ONLY thing that separates you from them. If you believe you can do something then you can. (Within reason) like you cannot grow wings but you sure as hell could get into that academy. Practice is what gets you there, motivation, technique, precision, and attitude is what gets you where you want to be within sports. I dropped out of gymnastics because I was scared of breaking something. If I would have just done it instead of being afraid who knows maybe I’d be competing. But I never took that risk so I won’t know. But you still have a shot you know? It’s never too late so keep your head up and stay focused ❤️
@@jaelynnf2522 "could get into this academy" - it's possible, but it's not just the matter of attitude. Do you really think other candidates for their foreign trainee program don't have the right attitude? This is one of the top three ballet academies in the world if not "the" top, so there are many motivated and talented people who apply for a limited number of spots. Also, in addition to technique, ballet also has very strict requirements about body shape, especially in Russia. You cannot change your body shape, it's more than just being thin, ballet has very strict requirements. Let's assume she has perfect "ballet physique". This academy is in Russia. They have a foreign trainee program for 16-20 year olds, it's by audition, and they probably get more applications than spots. To be accepted, one needs to be at the certain level technically, but also have the right body, and be better than others who applied. It's possible, assuming the right "ballet physique", but not easy and not just the matter of attitude. It's also not free for foreigners, their web page says 17500 per year. Cheaper than US colleges, but still not free. It's free for Russians. Incidentally, some foreign girls who got accepted have videos here, even channels.

Always lovely so graceful . A little tip don't forget the power of Your back and both shoulder blades. I always adjust my shoulder blades spaced wide and down. You may have fun on a turn board.
I am curious about it too. She kind of disappeared. The last comment on her instagram in 2019 when they graduated was that she was recovering from an injury and not yet auditioning, but after that - nothing.
@@vera6069 So do I. Another dancer I am wondering about is Maria Petukhova. She graduated in 2018, and was one of the best students, but she ended up in Tallin opera and ballet theater, danced there for a year, but then disappeared. I've been googling in both English and Russian and couldn't find her. Haven't read anything in forums either.
I have one question - how do those exams actually work? Do they train these exact moves before in class? Or do they get a list of moves a few days before the exam, telling them that this is what they are supposed to be doing? I never hear a teacher giving them directions what moves to do during the exam, so they must have been told in some way beforehand...Or is there a fixed syllabus of stuff that for instance 4th-year students have to learn and then reproduce at the exam every year? I have been told that the RADA system is standardised in the sense of what students have to learn in each year or for each grade - is Vaganova the same?
There is a program for every grade and the exams are the demonstration of it. The reason for why you don't see the teacher giving them instructions is because the combinations have to be set weeks (or 1-2 months) before the exam so they can memorize it before showing it.
@@marcosacosta5120 Oh I see - and iit wouldn't make sense otherwise. The whole exam looks like a beautiful choreography; there's nothing spontaneous about it. It's like a little performance. I think even where each girl stands at the barre is no coincidence; I read the memoir of Monica Loughman, an Irish ballerina who studied at Perm, and I think she mentions something about the best girls always being placed at the barre directly facing the teacher. Is there also a reason why girls in the lower grades generally do not wear tights but socks with their shoes? Does it have to do with the teacher needing to see how their muscles work? (But that's probably not it, as that need would not be eliminated in the higher grades.)
@@christianealshut1123 you’re correct actually! Younger girls have to wear socks so the teachers can see how their muscles work and make sure they’re having the correct alignment! As the girls get older they need not wear socks anymore as their alignment and stuff is already good enough, meaning the teacher doesn’t need to focus on such basics as every year at Vaganova more students leave the school, meaning the older they are, the less students and those are the cream of the crop!
I think the Vaganova Academy didnt want the exams posted publicly from that channel so it was always difficult to upload them and finally the academy most likely complained to youtube and got the channel taken down
