I guess the angels around God's throne that continually cry out "Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty" need to watch John MacArthurs strange fire conference and apologize for their repetitive worship I'll make sure to let them know their way out of line
Holy, Holy, Holy.....is directed towards the Lord, "Fill me, fill me, fill me," is directed towards self. This is the common thread in most of Bethel/Jesus Culture music.
Nailed it! Thank you... it should always be directed, focused, expressed toward God and the work of salvation Jesus loved us enough to suffer all that we ourselves deserved for eternity.
that is why I am a non denominational born again Christian. no church will save you. but the relationship you have with Jesus is what matters the most.
There is false doctrine to look at Jim Jones that’s what happen when I was a teenager and I made sure I went to church and learned the church doctrine and what were the true tenets of the Christian church
MacArthur's church is non denominational. Unlike other pastors, MacArthur never speaks of himself, only scripture is taught and presented at sermons. He stands his ground despite many who wish to take him down here in California where most churches have capitulated to the P.C. culture and prefer love over truth.
@@ElenaRoche If you reject the supernatural then you reject a supernatural God. Even demons believe & tremble. I would encourage you to ask God to truly reveal to you His heart not because John MacArthur said so frankly with all respect he criticizes & attacks people but himself creating division & confusion, that's not love but legalism.
@@aslanjudah33 The so called "supernatural" has too broad of a definition to say that if you reject it you reject a supernatural God. MacArthur has done a lot for Christianity. Is he right on everything? Ofcourse not. Here, he is worried about young impressionable people who are genuinely searching at a time when they are most vulnerable that they get going down the wrong path and get the wrong impression of Christianity. It's not easy to be a Christian. It's not just singing and feeling good. I watched the whole conference BTW. Did you?
My experience with the Holy Spirit After listening to a teaching at a youth meeting on the Holy Spirt and being a staunch 5 point Calvinist I had to make a theological decision based on God's Word 1. God will not do anything against my will. This was totally against my Calvinist tradition. 2. If I ask Him for a good gift He will never give me a bad gift If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13 NKJV The Lord knew my heart that I will serve no foreign gods and want nothing to do with anything demonic, but the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said that according to the Word I was entitled to trust him so I did. All I prayed that night was "Lord if this is something You want me to have, if this is something which will draw me closer to you, if this is something which will give me boldness to serve you more and be a better witness. Lord I trust you with my spirit that You will protect me in this thing I don't even understand and even don't really believe I submit to you. Nothing happened so I wrote it off and thought it was not for me. Early the next morning I was sleeping in my bed and the Lord came to me in my room (not physically just His presence) My testimony part 2 His glory filled my room and He spoke to my Spirit. The first thing I realised was that all fear and doubt was gone and a peace came over me; combined with a love that I had never experienced before. My intellectual argumentative brain was nullified and he filled me with the precious Holy Spirit. A language flowed out of my mouth which I did not understand my mind was unfruitful but my mouth was speaking all I could think about was how much I loved God. Brothers and sisters if this or something similar has never happened to you I strongly recommend you prayerfully ask the Lord. If it has happened glory be to Him but never let an intellectual know it all convince you that it is not of God.
Thank God we have Michael Brown. People seem think all Pentecostals rely on emotion when that is simply not true. Thats like saying all Baptist and Calvinist are so caught up on head knowledge that they cannot hear from God
That's right. Their Trinity doctrine consists of the Father, the Son and the Scripture. You don't see any demonstration of the work of the Holy Spirit like the book of Acts.😅
It breaks my heart to hear these men ridicule what’s happening in the church youth. The current move within the youth has be prophesied. The fruit of their lives speaks for itself. To say it’s demonic is really worrying when is a move of The Holy Spirit. Lord have mercy. Dr Brown your wisdom is much appreciated.
Sitting around playing video games.... my life before Christ no lie, Christ told me "You use to get your life from gaming but now you will get your life from me (Christ)"
Thank you Dr. Brown. I’m glad I took the time to listen to some of your messages. Because of you I’m slowly experiencing a change of heart towards charismatics, and about claiming what is and isn’t of the faith. I was falling into the MacArthur mindset lately myself. Let’s just say it robs you of your peace, and I started to miss the mark in regards to “Unconditional love.” Focusing on the injustice of other’s was causing me to become blind to their good qualities, and even their pain. We are all carry some sort of pain or struggle. Loving people and praying for them helps a lot more than criticizing and condemning them. There is a time an place for everything but these guys are just taking the criticism too far!!
Wow what an incredible statement. Thanks for sharing Stephen. You're right. We must have empathy and compassion for all people, even if we disagree or can't relate with some of their theology or spiritual practices.

I agree 100% with Dr. Brown in this video. Its amazing to me that MacArthur continue to speak and preach with such pride and righteousness (an none of what he's saying he's backing up with scripture, its all opinion). Every interview I see of MacArthur, he speaks with an attitude that he's right and everyone else is wrong. I used to be influenced by some of his teachings early on when I was first saved. But eventually realized how opinionated, mean and prideful he was and everything that he bashes are all simply his opinion and his opinion alone. Totally turned me off of him. There are things I disagree with Dr. Brown on in regards to some of his False Grace Doctrine bashing, but he's correct in this message.
***** The comedy is within charismatic churches, watching people make fools of themselves, while worshiping a god that doesn't exist. Just keep it to yourselves as the less-superstitious world doesn't want a part of this, nor would we want to worship an entity responsible for this lunacy.
when you call upon the name of Jesus, would you expect another spirit to come? Don't blaspheme the Holy Spirit, don't judge. You are a christian if you believe Jesus is Lord. Thanks Michael Brown...

25 years ago or so MacArthur preached with conviction and power; I used to listen to him every day during lunch and was blessed by his teachings. But now sadly I no longer see that person I used to listen to; now I see a judgmental person who has gradually become more and more critical of anything related to the moving of the Holy Spirit.

@@elypowell6797 You are correct when you say babling is not speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is the Holy Spirit speaking through us, just like the Bible says. There's an entire chapter devoted to the subject that most churches like to completely ignore.
Well said! I used to attend John MacArthur's church many many many years ago. I sat in the pew one Sunday night and felt so horrible after his sermon I never went back The verses in I Corinthians 8 come to mind and The Message version says it the best: The question keeps coming up regarding meat that has been offered up to an idol: Should you attend meals where such meat is served, or not? We sometimes tend to think we know all we need to know to answer these kinds of questions-but sometimes our humble hearts can help us more than our proud minds. We never really know enough until we recognize that God alone knows it all. 4-6 Some people say, quite rightly, that idols have no actual existence, that there’s nothing to them, that there is no God other than our one God, that no matter how many of these so-called gods are named and worshiped they still don’t add up to anything but a tall story. They say-again, quite rightly-that there is only one God the Father, that everything comes from him, and that he wants us to live for him. Also, they say that there is only one Master-Jesus the Messiah-and that everything is for his sake, including us. Yes. It’s true. 7 In strict logic, then, nothing happened to the meat when it was offered up to an idol. It’s just like any other meat. I know that, and you know that. But knowing isn’t everything. If it becomes everything, some people end up as know-it-alls who treat others as know-nothings. Real knowledge isn’t that insensitive. I worship God with hands raised and a heart lifted. God inhabits the praises of His people, I hope He inhabits mine. Praying for John MacArthur that he would understand and allow the Holy Spirit to change his thinking on praise and worship during church ;)
Faith is under fire within', and without. Heresy, apostasy, sacrilege, and the levin of today's Pharisee, and Sadducee abound. Outside the church is increasing anti-theism, relativism, and the lies and wiles of the enemy that have inculcated contemporary society in there trappings. In times like these; we need to unite with one mind and heart under the blood stained banner of the cross, standing upon a firm foundation of Christ. Factionalism, and the splitting hairs on minor doctrine must stop. United we stand and divided we fall! I am reminded of Luke 9:49-50 “Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.” NIV
It's dangerous to worship God in truth but without our hearts being moved. “But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying: ‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not lament.’ (Matthew 11:16-17)
Thank you so much Dr. Brown for making this video. Calvinists relationship with God is non-relational so I'm not surprised why they would act like this; I've been to Calvinist churches and they're spiritually dead. May God have mercy on them and raise them up to life and set them free from their non-relational theologies that tends to shut every relational question up by appealing to emotions and taking verses like Romans 9:20 out of context.

I can only imagine John MacArthur's response if he was witness to the woman washing Jesus's feet with her tears and drying them with her hair then anointing him with the expensive perfume.i can only imagine, but I feel confident that whatever he said would make Judas's remarks seem like high praise!
"He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your *heart* and with all your *soul* and with all your *strength* and with all your *mind’* and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Luke 10:27) I don't perform charismatic worship (speaking in tongues, etc.), but I think it's definitely important for worship of God to be both intellectual and emotional. If it is all intellect and no spirit, it is hollow. If it is all emotional and not intellectual, it can be swayed into frenzies and demonic worship. I'd say a balance of both is important.
Wow! when I pick up my guitar and start to praise Jesus , when I shut everything else out except Jesus and praise His name I get weak in my knees and sway like a drunkard and I have to sit down because His blessing come down so strong upon me and that's just me alone in my house. My God is present at all times in my life,it is only me that ever steps away from his presence
Sad. It reminds me of something I heard Dr. Kenneth Hagin say over 25 years ago, "Some preachers wouldn't know the Holy Ghost if they saw Him walking down the street with a red hat on." I honor Dr. MacArthur, as a brother, as a man of God, but he missed it this time by a country mile!
God inhabits the praise of His people. Sure we become emotional but they are Godly emotions. Why shouldn't we experience the emotion of joy and gratitude when singing to the Almighty?
As a retired pastor, the scripture passage that challenged me most was Paul's admonition to those in the Corinthian church who thought he was weak and ineffective: ..."I will know, not the word (talk) of those who are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word (talk) but in power" (1 Corinthians. 4:19, 20). We are known by the fruit we bear, not just by the words we speak, no matter how lofty . We may have all kinds of arguments and theological positions we lay on others but if we can't say boo to a demon, can't heal the sick, can't raise the dead and can't set the captives free, we might be better keeping our mouths shut until we are able to demonstrate that the Kingdom of God truly is within us.
The "Fill Me Up" song was beautiful! I watched the Strange Fire Conference where this song was ridiculed. Although I agree with most of what The Conference was teaching, but when they played a clip of that song, it took me to a worshipful attitude! I'm 53 and considered an "old man" in most circles, but John MacArthur is "old man" mentally. But I do love him as a father in the Lord. But sometimes arrogance may trickle into our personality, especially when you're as brilliant as he is.
You nailed it my friend! Thats Why Paul said he died daily, our flesh raises up sometime and gets the best of us if we don't submit it to the Lord! JM isn't perfect nor are the other brothers on that panel I think the real point they are trying to make is for people to start off on a firm foundation built on the word of God before we seek to have a emotional experience with God. Let us start off with the Milk of the word and then we can handle the meaty things Disernments, fillings not feelings, thankfullness, kindness, and Love and all the other fruits of the spirit! I actively listen to Paul Washer, Tim Conway, David/Leonard Ravenhill, Andrew Womack, Zac/Sandeed/Santosh Poonen, and your ministry (ever since you visited Houston under Dusty Kemp). I hear and read so many conflicting messages - some messages involving believers attacking each other's views. So, I really appreciate you challenging Todd Friel's and Brother John MacArthur's approach in the video. I am so dismayed by them indoctrinating their views, even though I agree with many of their views as I also agree with many Charismatic views as well. But the laughter and mockery during their dialoguing is really discouraging and it's not the first time I've heard Todd Friel doing this. THANK YOU for addressing this.
No emotions or charismatic worship? Macarthur is so off base with this. The Psalms are songs meant to be full of emotion for our God. David was dancing dressed inappropriately according to his wife before The Lord! she tried to shame him for it. David was showing a lot of emotion there, don't you think? He did not care! Now unless Macarthur happens to be a Vulcan... I think he is totally wrong! There's nothing wrong with showing emotion during worship. To me it's weird to see a totally stiff, unemotional congregation worshipping without even raising a hand or being emotional at all.

Thank you Dr. Brown for responding to this incident. I had watched this particular conference and I was very grief to see how John Mcarthur and Todd mocked Jesus Culture worship and called it Kudali. I am from India and I know what is Kundali. Jesus Culture worship is not at all Kundali. It was so unwise and ungracious for them to simply mocked such Christian worship as Kundali.
I was raised in a denomination that blasts just about all other Christians because they do not accept the beliefs of the denomination. Years later I was in a different movement that has the same attitude. I accept all people who love Jesus and strive to live right. Baptism, eternal security, trinity, tongues, works vs faith, futurism vs preterism, dispensationalism, etc. ad nauseum. There is a place for correct doctrines. But love is greater than squabbles. I can bow my head in silence with Presbyterians and I can jump and shout with the Pentecostals.

Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! (I hope this answer doesn't offend McCarthur as well...) The truth is McCarthur might be afraid of surrendering to God on a deeper level. He could be at risk of being like Michal, instead of praising like David.
The issue the panel has with the Bethel worship is not that it is "mindless," but that it would dare to incorporate and appeal to the Holy Spirit in faith-filled, intellectual acknowledgement that believers are able to engage with a holy God. This is a struggle for the panelist's intellectual pride, which thinks itself spiritually superior
Dr. Brown, I agree with you 100%. There's a great book out there, somewhere that states, "Where two or three are gathered in my Name, there I am in the mist of them"!

I am with you Michael. I put a video on my channel, challenging Paul Washer over the same issue. There is too much condemnation in the church today. The Apostle Paul highlighted this issue in his letter to the Corinthians when he said that there are different administrations but the same Lord over all. Who are we to judge the sincerity of the heart? This is something only God can do. Very well stated brother! Blessings to you. You are in our prayers!

I actually watched all the videos on Strange Fire and I tend to agree with MacArthur although I didn't laugh. It's rather sad. The repetitive lyrics criticism was a small one among many of more serious ones of the Charismatic Movement. The main idea was that the people join it for the wrong reason, for how it makes them feel. Since we know feelings can change, your belief in God should be based on truths found in scripture. The major criticism of the Charismatics at the conference was that they don't stress the importance of scripture, but rather the feelings of God's presence themselves. I just watched Defecting From Bethel interview where the same thing was expressed by a former member of the movement.
In my 40 years following Jesus, the Holy Spirit all over the world, he gave me to travel, did some amazing and mysterious things. Often made me question my sanity but the fruit, grace and mercy saw thousands saved. Do not throw the baby out with the bath water. Holy Spirit is in charge. Love it or leave it. Leave it at your own loss. Bless you all!
I greatly respect Dr.Brown and his ministry, I do however want to point out some issues that I see with this video. 1. You stated that the panel was laughing at the Jesus Culture song because of all of the "fill me ups". You edited your video in such a way as to make it appear that they are laughing at the song. If you go back and watch the entire video you will see that they were all laughing at John MacArthur, not at the song. They actually go on to mention that they are greatly burdened over the things that they were shown and that they are not laughable but disheartening. 2. There is a tremendous difference between being around the throne of God and chanting "Holy, Holy, Holy" and being at a concert with poor theology, smoke machines, and low lighting, and repeating things in such a way as to provoke some sort of mindless worship. One is focused on God while one is focused on self. 3. Where did John MacArthur state that "worship joined with music" means that there is mindless hysteria taking place? In the clip that you played he is directly responding to another instance of shallow worship. He is expressing his desire that he wishes that these people would be able to know the scriptures well and worship according to that. He did not condemn music in that clip if you understand what he was responding to. 4. You mentioned that if worship is just truth then it will be dead. Why is that? I would hope that all worship would be based off of truth.
Well stated, and I am glad I decided to read the comments since these are some of my observations as well. The folks insisting upon continuationism deny Sola Scriptura, believing that new revelation is given in a host of ways today, similar to the Apostolic age and before. This is a serious compromise with an unconfirmable standard, the word of men and in many cases, women! Oh, the irony! For those saying MacArthur, and the other men on the panel is all head and no heart lack spiritual maturity and or discernment. Their emotions prevent them from any objective analysis along with their erroneous view of the person and work of the Holy Spirit! They read the Word very little and do not comprehend the significant connections between the Old and New Covenants! Then they rely upon the Michael Brown's of the world to do their thinking!
Also when in the Bible is mentioned,Holy,Holy,Holy is because the angels are referring to God,Jesus and Holy Ghost, the angels are worship to the Holy Trinity!!
I think Dr. Brown is spot on in this video. Charismatic worship and music, etc needs to be balanced and be correct in spirit and truth. I like MacArthur and Friel so I don't say this lightly. And I also believe in their assessment that there are some really bad things happening spiritually and even demonic seances in the name of charismatic worship. So, I will only speak to that which was demonstrated in this video as we do not know if what the panel was watching and responding to is exactly what we saw. "Fill me, fill me, fill me," depends upon CONTEXT. "Fill me" for the purpose of serving me to make ME feel good and give me a high or power is self-centered and could be me-focused worship and an invitation for deceiving spirits. However, "Fill me," God, to make me more like you God, to change me from the inside, to replace all that is me with You, to empower me for your mission and purpose and calling is about as non-self centered as it gets. As in all things we must remain sober and discerning and worship God in spirit and truth.
'Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all in one accord in one place.....and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance!'(Acts 2) I can picture John MacArthur standing off to the side with his "religious" cronies, observing this, shaking their heads, rolling their eyes and mocking, saying that this bunch of fanatics are 'full of new wine!' Only MacArthur would even go further and exclaim...'this is NOT the spirit of God! This is paganism! This is demon possession!'
I agree Dr Brown , this touched me because in order to know why they were worshipping like that we would have to be there and they do want God, some preachers are religious speaking scripture but they do not have a spiritual understanding. But Dr Brown I believe you are a man of understanding. May the Lord JESUS Christ bless your heart.
Dr Brown I am so glad I stumbled onto your site your posts are like a breath of fresh air and bring comfort to my troubled soul Only recently I took notice of the venomous attacks on the Pentecostal- Charismatic movement and was surprised that I could find no rebuttal sites maybe because I never knew where to look. I have a deep concern for newborn baby Christians in the Word of Faith movement who in their zeal to find out more of their new found Faith stumble upon these "Exposers". I find that a lot of them cut and edit all context out of what is said or preached and use this to slander and try discredit the largest section of Protestant Christianity. I was saved in a cessationist Calvinistic Baptist Church when I was 13 years old and to their credit they impressed on me the importance of studying the Bible and understanding orthodoxy. Unfortunately it was mostly head knowledge and true to form I used my intellectual expertees and ability to debate to attack and destroy young penecostal believers. It was not until eight years later I humbled myself to the Word of God and took of my doctrinal glasses and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It turned my life upside down in a good way my relationship with How was so much deeper I became a better, bolder and loving Christian. I love debating even arguing somewhat however someone has to rebutt these hatchet jobs to give confidence to younglings.
Yes, me too. I was attacking one week and speaking in tongues the next. Hallelujah!!! Thank God for His mercy and grace upon my ignorant soul. Out of my belly flows.....RIVERS!!!!
+Randall Reece Are we talking about Biblical glossolalia or about today's "speaking in tongues"? If it is not Biblical glossolalia, then it is demonic! Biblical glossolalia is speaking a foreign (or even angelic) language perfectly without having known it before. You must understand what you say. Did you understand what you said?
The Bible clearly tells us there are two kinds of speaking in tongues, a prayer language(some call it an angelic language) for individual prayer, Romans 8;26 and the Supernatural Gift of Tongues used amidst a gathering, that is spoken forth, then translated, either by a message brought forth by the same person or another person or someone present that heard the Gospel in his own native language. Spirit filled believers don't usual know what they are speaking or they may. And we see the Spiritual Gifts, including tongues bestowed upon 120 believes in the upper room( all of them, not just the 12 apostles), starting in Acts 2 and loads of verses in the NT, where believers received Baptism of the Holy Spirit, by the laying on of hands....it was and still is a second work given to believers, in addition to the Holy Spirits presence in our lives that opened our hearts and minds accept the Gospel and to receive Christ as Lord and Savior in the first place. I don't believe you need to be able to speak in tongues to be saved
Yes Dr. Brown you are right. Many people are blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is associating the working of the Holy Spirit to Demonic Spirit.
I think his intellect is ruling him, it seems like a Pharasaic spirit. I hope not. We all need to be still of heart & mind & know God in a child like manner including John MacArthur.
I never heard him say that. I did hear him state that there will be a remnant that will not take the mark. But never that you could take the mark and still be saved. Not defending calvinism because I believe at times it can be out right heretical, but he never stated that and if he did please show the evidence.
@@87DAM1987 ua-cam.com/video/iQKxbUamUno/v-deo.html Here you go. I've seen the Q&A video a while back of the audio recording. ☝. This video has the links in the description too.
The real division I see is two different gospel being preached. One gospel says, you are justified forever apart from works, and the other gospel says, you are justified, but must maintain your justification to retain it. One gospel says, once you are saved, forever saved, the other gospel says, after being saved, you can backslide, apostate and be lost. Scripture says that by the sacrifice of Jesus, God He has made perfect forever those He is making holy. Heb 10:14. So which gospel is the true one?
I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with understanding” (1 Corinthians 14:15). MacArthur and Friel don't understand Paul's statement (above). They are ignorant. Thanks to Michael Brown for highlighting their bigotry and non- Christian ideology. They seem to think that engaging in deep, aesthetic experience is wicked or mindless. What nonsense! "Obey God and do as you please." Augustine.
Yeah, the irony of this is that MacArther's deadness is reflected in the very walls of his church. It literally looks like a funeral home stuck in the 80's. I understand wanting formal liturgy, My new church actually practices some old reformed structured literary with catechism's, scripture readings, and recited prayers. I understand the power and reverence of that liturgy. My church also understands passionate heart felt worship songs though too. Personally Jesus has been showing me that I've only have an intense theological head knowledge of God (Which is awesome) but I have a hard time resting in my father's arms and being intimate with Jesus. It's been such a blessing to realize this and though it's been really hard it's been really soul soothing. I pray that Pastor MacArther will be able to have that one day. He seems like a very angry man.
Dr. Brown you are hearing what john has to say, he said he does not want are church to sing mindless songs, with out sound Doctrin in the songs...go and find a old old Hymn book, and see all the words that are in those old songs that we sang when I was a kid growing up in church. you could preach a sermon from some of those old Hymns.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, Acts 4:31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.Acts 9:17 KJV And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 13:9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost. How is asking God to fill you with the Holy Spirit unscriptural?
Thanks so much for clarifying that. I enjoy listening to you both but strongly disagree with John MacArthur on his judgement of other churches forms of worship. I love to worship God with thanksgiving and praise. I raise my hands and love how connected I feel to God when I sing to Him. I do agree that the words of the song matter. God bless you and your ministry!
I received the gift of tongues when I was aged 17 as did many of the young people at my church. Amazing and glorious experience that I will never forget - I'm now in my 50's.
@@Celtics20 my wife speaks in tongues and if she’s in church someone usually translates. It’s only gibberish to people that cannot understand that it’s biblical
@@Celtics20, I simply don't understand how folks can justify making nonsensical sounds and calling it tongues in the biblical sense. They are not the same thing which is obvious to anyone that's being objective in any way.
@@Ididntaskforahandleyoutube In 1 Corinthians 14:4, Paul tells us that the one who speaks in tongues edifies themselves, in contrast to prophecy, where one edifies the church. If speaking in tongues was merely speaking in a foreign language for the benefit of other people, why would Paul say it edifies the individual speaking it, contrasting it with prophecy, which edifies others?
@@Chupie77777 , because one is edified in spreading the gspel of Christ thus living up to God's standards. Why would we be edified by yelling out literal nonsense in God's name? Dr Brown, you just earned a whole new level of respect in my book brother. Thank you so much! I am so tired of the ramped bashing that is causing division among the brethren, that, in my opinion, is nothing more then satans plan, to divide and conquer. I say it again, thank you so much for addressing this! I feel this exact same way. Praise the Lord there is so many young people asking for the Holy spirit to fill them up! I say Hallelujah! Because God knows there are so many more listening to music that is straight demonic, wasting their minds on drugs and video games. You nailed it perfectly!! ❤️❤️❤️keep up the good work. I pray for more front line soldiers to bring this bashing and division to the light, so it can end, and we can get back focused on Gods true desires
In reality, nobody knows our hearts only God knows how truthful and sincere we are at any time. John is very rigid in some aspects or worship. I personally prefer to sing lyrics with content instead of repeating the same thing over and over but we have to be open to accept other people’s way of worship. I also do understand that if the emphasis is in the music only without a good message that should change. So I think that music can complement a good message but the message should stand out by itself. To be honest God does not care about our singing or our music if our lives do not square with the Holy Scriptures. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, “God is a Spirit, and true worshipers should worship him in Spirit and in truth”
Fill me up, Fill me up, Fill me up....etc. I like that. It 's a simple request. It's asking for something. If it wasn't good would they be asking for it? I don't think so. We are supposed to ask. I have a cat that seems to be hungry all the time, but I still like it when she asks for food. I try to keep her weight down, but I still like when she asks. I try to tell her it's too early, and she has to wait, and that I just gave her something, but I still like when she asks.
Dr Brown, love your ministry and knowledge the Lord has given you.I hear a lot on the internet lately about natural Israel and the church being separate. The church being the bride but the believing Jews being totally separate with totally different promises. My understanding is that both Gentiles and Jews have to enter through Christ and made into one new man.Hope you can understand this question and offer some clarity.
Praise him w/ lute & harp, praise him w/ timbrel & dance, praise him w/ stringed instruments & organs, praise him w/ loud & clashing cymgals. Sing to the Lord a new song & plenty more from Psalms
Here is the reason I don't dare to suggest evil influence about someone trying to be filled with the Spirit, even if it looks unscriptural to me, how they do it: Luke 11:12-14 .."If he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? How much more will the heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?"
I watched that entire conference and much of the aftermath of it. I like some who have commented here have learned from John MacArthur's verse by verse teaching of the scripture but I have come to essentially dismiss much of his personal commentary about things presented to him...he stated, "They are NOT Christians!" WOW a few minutes of a clip that he didn't like caused him to concluded that those individuals in that service are, apparently clear to him, based on the music, not Christian.
What's also amazing is the fact that these young people who engage in this worship have fruit that remains. They become missionaries and plant churches all over the world.
The psalms are filled with repetitive phrases of worship and praise, as is the Bible in general. God looks upon the heart, while man looks upon the outer man. McArthur has become very pious and legalistic
Im glad i’ve come to this. I took time listening to macarthur and peters and all those with him who have been too busy criticizing fellow christians that i have become so disturbed and sad these past days asking God is there somebody out there i can still believe? It honestly hurt me seeing christians fighting other christians... christians judging christians... its sad tye christians are not united and are not doing what God has commanded us to do: to love each other.
We need a passion for God AMEN!! Our passion for the Lord is a sign we are not bound by religious things.

John MacArthur contradicts the Bible saying that people can accept the mark of the beast and still be saved. You can find it on youtube. It's sad and sinful. great video
I’m glad , you sir, dr. Michael Brown, spoke about these leaders who mock the works, other works, of the Holy Spirit. I mean these leaders constant speak against what may be the Internal working of God, they don’t even believe in dancing for God. I will dance like David danced. If the Body of Christ was compose of only these Men shown in strange fire video, my flesh would be out bounding and restricted the river of life eternal flowing from the Spirit. .. John 7:38, 4:14 . I don’t want to stay on the boat , I will walk on water.
OK, I appreciate your perspective and I do agree that there needs to be a balance somewhere regarding what we refer to as worship and the music we use in our “worship service.” I spent about 20 years with IFB Baptists who frown upon anything emotion driven or with any overt beat or syncopation and, of course, drums are of the Devil! Being a musician myself, I never fully bought into this and when I left IFB for a Conservative Evangelical Church, I went to the Guitar Center, bought a Fender Stratocaster and joined the Worship team and loved it! I think I just loved making music again but I digress... It seemed like in the 90s and early 2000s that there was some really good Contemporary Christian Music that was doctrinally rich and uplifting as well as being upbeat but then Hillsong United comes along and everything goes into the toilet! For some reason, everyone decides they now have to dim the lights, the words are dumbed down and the music is hypnotic and emotionally manipulative and this is where I must side with Todd Friel, Johnny Mac, and the rest of the “strange fire” panel! I am 100% convinced that most of what we are seeing and experiencing in “Modern Worship Services” with the laser light show, high-end sound system, and rockin, praise band is nothing more than feel good, manufactured emotion which is a cheap imitation for the true presence of the Holy Spirit that every blood-bought Child of God desperately longs for! Corporate worship should have far more to do with what goes on in the congregation than what is going on up on the platform! Seriously, if you were to suddenly pull the plug on the sound and media, you would likely find the congregation barely making a noise! What happened to the days when congregational singing would literally “rattle the rafters” in the building? I often feel the very same way John MacArthur does that perhaps we should just tell the “worship team” to go sit down, turn on the lights, grab a Hymnal, and sing our hearts out without any instrumental accompaniment whatsoever! I wonder how many of us old-timers would realize how much we missed this and how many of our young folks would say “Hey, this is really cool!” I still have that Fender Stratocaster but I rarely play it in Church these days and when I am involved with the music, I try to be part of the solution rather than adding to the problem!
Read psalms where David Worshiped God with the Liar and harp and how he danced before the Lord Naked(not all the way just down to his lower garments that covered his privet parts) Do you not think there was music and shouting and dancing. I would strongly encourage you to not listen to this garbage about sensationalist and realize God gave you a gift and you enjoy it for a reason because when you use an instrument of any sort to glorify God it pleases the Father. I would say that if you are having a hard time with your Guitar then you should not use your hands or voice because they my friend are instruments of praise as well. Do not be mislead by the enemy that only wants to kill steal and destroy, I play guitar and have many many many times just started singing new songs to the Lord.
True I also understand why John , Todd, etc say what they say. Most Charismatic churches have crossed the line, With their Ungodly songs, with disco lights on like a club.
I believe that the Heart of God was truly grieved... as the Strange Fire Conference panel set themselves up as judge, jury, and jailer. Their mocking, disrespect, and arrogance toward others hurt the Body of Jesus Christ more than any of what or who they were accusing as heresy. It sickened me. And I am absolutely praying for John MacArthur and his team... "Lord have mercy on them."
I'm thankful Dr. Brown is speaking out against these comments made by John Mcarthur. I'm not sure why Calvinist worship a SPIRITUAL god and then condemn any kind of spiritual gifts, worship, preaching. Makes Zero Sense
John MaCarthur is the Richard Dawkins of evangelicalism. He was given a very gracious, open invitation by Mark Driscoll to come to Mars Hill church and have an open debate and discussion about his cessationist views and the things he said at the strange fire conference with Wayne Gruedem. He offered to pay for his airfare, hotel, and meals and he turned it down. He's a doctrinal bully and a coward. That he turned an opportunity to debate a very well respected theologian and leader both in the evangelical church and the charismatic church makes no sense. Wayne Gruedem is a solid, proven theologian and scholar, and also a charismatic and is reformed as well. If he is going to have the balls to say that charismatics are unsaved , he should be willing to have the chuzpa to defend those statements in an open debate, but all he can do is hurl accusations and make unfounded statements from a safe place, from the bunker of his church. His unwillingness to do so only reveals the weakness of his position. I call him the Richard Dawkins of evangelicalism because just like Richard Dawkins, who is always pontificating on the idiocy of theists and Christians, and was given the opportunity to debate William Laine Craig and turned it down, so has John MaCarthur done in this case. I used to have a certain amount of respect for JM despite my strong disagreements with areas of his theology, but now I'm wondering how I can maintain that same level of respect after this.
Would that be the same Mark Driscoll who attempted to crash the Strange Fire conference by making tweets about his new book and offering free copies to conference attendees? The same Mark Driscoll who was found unethically trying to get his latest book "Real Marriage" on the New York Times' Best Seller List? He certainly sounds like a gracious and upstanding individual to me. I think John MacArthur has better things to do with his time, frankly.
@@InfiniteBobby He is saying the exact truth, it's the mercy of God we haven't been consumed like people in the old testament. John MacArthur is a legalistic critic as bad as CNN & fake news
As a member of upfront ministry and bass player in a church for more than 10 years I need to say this. We are told what to play, how to play it, in what key, what time signature what level of volume, when to bring it up and down in volume and intensity. We are told EVERYTHING by the Head Pastor - EVERY SINGLE SERVICE. If you don't like it, please don't blame the musicians who get up at the crack of dawn on a sunday and work all day at their own cost to do what they truly believe they have been called and anointed to do. It's very rarely their fault if it's not what you wanted to hear.
Don’t you think there is a problem with your head pastor then? Don’t use your bad personal experience to judge this situation. If that’s the situation for your church, then have enough sense to get out
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name.......Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’ Is this the type of fate these men face?
Victor Morales Hi brother. No, Jesus was clearing stating that using his name for legitimate healing (which we do even now), going to church, prophecy, and any or all manner of religiosity and church-isms included (living a normal "Christian" 'Qualitative' lifestyle), won't necessarily qualify you on that day if you do not have a personal relationship with Him by being borne of the Holy Spirit. Jesus isn't endorsing YOU when He heals someone through you. It's not like He's saying, "Victor, YOU are my man! So I will now miraculously heal this pre-believer before their very eyes!" No, He just wants to heal that person. (or if you don't believe in healing in Jesus' name, then the "only the ones who do the will of my Father" might come into play because you were supposed to pray for that sick person whether your doctrine endorsed it or not! ooops.) Or, just because you were at a prayer meeting and prophesied some stuff doesn't mean He's necessarily endorsing YOU because you got a word or something. It's about Him. It's about knowing Him. Instead of nit-picking each other to death (contrary to Jesus' last prayer of unity), we should be asking ourselves, do I really know God's heart? Am I in alignment with His will? Can I actually hear His voice? Am I in a heart posture of obedience? Do I have a surrendered heart willing to let God touch and transform me even if it is uncomfortable? Lord, what needs addressing in my life that doesn't line up with who You created me to be? Those kind of things. Jesus says "depart from me" to Christians who don't know Him, whether they fall into evangelical, charismatic/wing nut OR legalistic/fundamentalist/liturgical camps. It's serious. All camps serve the same God. This God we serve is a consuming fire!!!
I respect John MacArthur and have learned a lot from him over the years. And continue to. But in this case it seems obvious to me that he does not understand emotive worship and fears his own emotions, as if emotions are equivalent in his mind with sexuality. That's unfortunate, as are his remarks.
Totally agree Mike. He's using his own experience or lack of experience with emotion to filter into his theological understanding of how our relationship with God should be. I find the interview with Piper and MacArthur very interesting. Just highlights it even more.
I'm late to this comment thread, but I need to chime in here. Dr. Brown articulates his point well on the expression of music. I find it interesting that for some reason there are two extremes that seem diametrically opposed in the context of a worship setting. One says "We only will sing present day songs that are written today, and the other we only will sing the hymns of yesteryear. What? Songs can't be written anymore? Why not do both? I personally love many of the old hymns. I think we in the charismatic circles need to incorporate them more. That being said, the scripture teaches in Psalm 96:1-3 "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. Yes, sing a NEW song. I have always said, if the song is not scriptural, THROW IT OUT! The Bible has to be our foundation. We need to be like the Bereans and examine every song we write and sing. So in conclusion to my fellow songwriters, use the Bible as your foundation and listen to the Holy Spirit for the right words to pen.
The door swings both ways. There can be "mindless" worship with no true connection to God and not truth attached, but the opposite can be true as the following quote illustrates: "In order to reach and to mislead the elect, Satan starts by getting his tools to the forefront of many churches and communities, inspiring them to interpret the Bible according to his purposes… “de-mythologizing” the Bible … as a book of fairy stories. Others are to make a fetish out of the Bible, and to kill off the Spirit … by the letter. "And where that is not sufficient, Satan dispenses his spiritual gifts with reckless abundance. Many of his tools are brilliant preachers, they can speak in tongues, heal the sick, and perform other miracles…" -Abram Poljak
This why Jesus said there is no one good no not one. We must live constantly praying without ceasing. We must forgive them and understand there concern , Life is to short we must move on quickly.
Join me in praying for these men that they all will be filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, prophesy, get words of knowledge, be used to heal the sick and have dreams and visions from the LORD and that they would know the depth the width and height of the love of God. God, turning just like Saul did to Paul and truly reflect Jesus to the world.
So often Dr. Brown is so gracious when in disagreement with people. I’m so glad to hear him employ the terms “Pathetic”, “horrific shame”, “ignorance” when addressing the panels comments. It is all of that and then some.
I guess the angels around God's throne that continually cry out "Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty" need to watch John MacArthurs strange fire conference and apologize for their repetitive worship I'll make sure to let them know their way out of line
lol that's funny
that doesn't really relate to the context they were speaking of.
Holy, Holy, Holy.....is directed towards the Lord, "Fill me, fill me, fill me," is directed towards self. This is the common thread in most of Bethel/Jesus Culture music.
Nailed it! Thank you... it should always be directed, focused, expressed toward God and the work of salvation Jesus loved us enough to suffer all that we ourselves deserved for eternity.
very true
that is why I am a non denominational born again Christian. no church will save you. but the relationship you have with Jesus is what matters the most.

Did you?
My experience with the Holy Spirit
After listening to a teaching at a youth meeting on the Holy Spirt and being a staunch 5 point Calvinist I had to make a theological decision based on God's Word
1. God will not do anything against my will. This was totally against my Calvinist tradition.
2. If I ask Him for a good gift He will never give me a bad gift
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Luke 11:13 NKJV
The Lord knew my heart that I will serve no foreign gods and want nothing to do with anything demonic, but the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said that according to the Word I was entitled to trust him so I did.
Early the next morning I was sleeping in my bed and the Lord came to me in my room (not physically just His presence)
My testimony part 2
His glory filled my room and He spoke to my Spirit.

Dr Brown your wisdom is much appreciated.

Well said! Agree totally
I totally agree. It's what turned me off on him his condescending attitude.
Pablo Manchaca too funny
***** The comedy is within charismatic churches, watching people make fools of themselves, while worshiping a god that doesn't exist. Just keep it to yourselves as the less-superstitious world doesn't want a part of this, nor would we want to worship an entity responsible for this lunacy.
Pablo Manchaca Admittedly, they do often make fools of themselves regardless of whether the Creator exists or not...
when you call upon the name of Jesus, would you expect another spirit to come? Don't blaspheme the Holy Spirit, don't judge. You are a christian if you believe Jesus is Lord. Thanks Michael Brown...

[13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

I sat in the pew one Sunday night and felt so horrible after his sermon I never went back The verses in I Corinthians 8 come to mind and The Message version says it the best:
The question keeps coming up regarding meat that has been offered up to an idol: Should you attend meals where such meat is served, or not?
Dr. Brown is completely on point in his overview, I thank God for for rational, caring, and understanding voices such as his in times like these.
It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying:
‘We played the flute for you,
And you did not dance;
We mourned to you,
And you did not lament.’
(Matthew 11:16-17)

"He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your *heart* and with all your *soul* and with all your *strength* and with all your *mind’* and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Luke 10:27)
I don't perform charismatic worship (speaking in tongues, etc.), but I think it's definitely important for worship of God to be both intellectual and emotional.
Amen! Absolutely agree
He also has err'd in recently in regard to the mark of the beast clothing himself in mans wisdom not in what the bible plainly teaches.
The context is easily derived in that one line... "Fill me up *LORD* ".
Acts 13:52
And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit
God inhabits the praise of His people. Sure we become emotional but they are Godly emotions. Why shouldn't we experience the emotion of joy and gratitude when singing to the Almighty?
Donald Anderson in the presence of the Lord is the fullness of joy. But we should eliminate emotions from God. Riiighhht
Judge nothing before its time. Lets all just be thankfull and gentle yet wise! God Bless

I actively listen to Paul Washer, Tim Conway, David/Leonard Ravenhill, Andrew Womack, Zac/Sandeed/Santosh Poonen, and your ministry (ever since you visited Houston under Dusty Kemp).
That is the sad truth that most of these pastors and believers that music other than traditional music is the only thing we should listen too, I have been in to Christian rap and rock and even metal. I introduced one of my unsaved friends to a group called Disciple its more metal rock, I had often asked him to come to church with me but he always declined when he heard this music he loved it. When they had a concert in town I invited him and he came, they had an altar call and he gave his life to the Lord and know you cant keep that boy out of church. God created all music

I'm a Calvinist and I agree with Dr. Brown

@Isaac amen on saying that John is all head no heart.
"Fill me up" they are obviously taking about filling up with Holy Spirit. But I guess you lack basic understanding.
Wonderful observation Dr. Brown we all need to be more understanding and less critical of each other. God bless you my friend I love your ministry.
After listening to the comments from this panel, one question comes to the forefront......" Who died and left you boss "..... what a mess.......
Dr Brown I am so glad I stumbled onto your site your posts are like a breath of fresh air and bring comfort to my troubled soul
Only recently I took notice of the venomous attacks on the Pentecostal- Charismatic movement and was surprised that I could find no rebuttal sites maybe because I never knew where to look.
I don't believe you need to be able to speak in tongues to be saved
commonsensebeliever zpiju
Yes Dr. Brown you are right. Many people are blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is associating the working of the Holy Spirit to Demonic Spirit.
Yeah John MacArthur lost me when he said you can take the mark of the beast in the end times and still be saved....
I think his intellect is ruling him, it seems like a Pharasaic spirit. I hope not. We all need to be still of heart & mind & know God in a child like manner including John MacArthur.
He believes “once saved always saved” he is deceiving everyone with his false doctrine
I never heard him say that. I did hear him state that there will be a remnant that will not take the mark. But never that you could take the mark and still be saved. Not defending calvinism because I believe at times it can be out right heretical, but he never stated that and if he did please show the evidence.

Here you go. I've seen the Q&A video a while back of the audio recording. ☝. This video has the links in the description too.
Prove it. I’ve been listening to him many times and when he speaks about the mark, it’s opposite of what you claim. You’ve been deceived
+john dennis Very true
john dennis many of those old hymns are not even theologically accurate, so I disagree with your statement.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Acts 4:31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.Acts 9:17 KJV
And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 13:9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
Does a brother translate your tongue speaking? Or is it Giberish like the other 99% of tongue speakers across the world?
@@Celtics20 my wife speaks in tongues and if she’s in church someone usually translates. It’s only gibberish to people that cannot understand that it’s biblical
@@Celtics20, I simply don't understand how folks can justify making nonsensical sounds and calling it tongues in the biblical sense. They are not the same thing which is obvious to anyone that's being objective in any way.
@@Ididntaskforahandleyoutube
In 1 Corinthians 14:4, Paul tells us that the one who speaks in tongues edifies themselves, in contrast to prophecy, where one edifies the church.
It seems pretty cut and dry to me but I'm always willing to have my mind changed about anything with proper evidence or logical argumentation. Cheers
I LOVE to pray for Dr. John MacArthur and Justin Peters. God bless them.
Here is the reason I don't dare to suggest evil influence about someone trying to be filled with the Spirit, even if it looks unscriptural to me, how they do it:
Luke 11:12-14 .."If he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
Thanks Dr Brown..... for your love of Christ...
We need a passion for God AMEN!! Our passion for the Lord is a sign we are not bound by religious things.
John MacArthur contradicts the Bible saying that people can accept the mark of the beast and still be saved. You can find it on youtube.
It's sad and sinful.
great video
he lost all credibility after that. i can't even trust his study bible now. what else did he misinterpret and twist?

No he doesn't

I’m glad , you sir, dr. Michael Brown, spoke about these leaders who mock the works, other works, of the Holy Spirit. I mean these leaders constant speak against what may be the Internal working of God, they don’t even believe in dancing for God. I will dance like David danced. If the Body of Christ was compose of only these Men shown in strange fire video, my flesh would be out bounding and restricted the river of life eternal flowing from the Spirit. .. John 7:38, 4:14 . I don’t want to stay on the boat , I will walk on water.
OK, I appreciate your perspective and I do agree that there needs to be a balance somewhere regarding what we refer to as worship and the music we use in our “worship service.”
I spent about 20 years with IFB Baptists who frown upon anything emotion driven or with any overt beat or syncopation and, of course, drums are of the Devil!
I wonder how many of us old-timers would realize how much we missed this and how many of our young folks would say “Hey, this is really cool!”
I still have that Fender Stratocaster but I rarely play it in Church these days and when I am involved with the music, I try to be part of the solution rather than adding to the problem!
True
I also understand why John , Todd, etc say what they say.
Most Charismatic churches have crossed the line,
With their Ungodly songs, with disco lights on like a club.
"Lord have mercy on them."
agree hundred percent! Bunch of parishes who have no desire to see truth but to judge and criticise. ..how sad
thank you Dr. Brown...The truth will set you free...there is a beautiful lightness, and freedom to those that surrender all to him
I'm thankful Dr.
Aubrey Young logically speaking, you are attacking his character. A logical fallacy
GOD BLESS DR BROWN, listen carefully people here's a wise man of God, amen.
I respect John MacArthur and have learned a lot from him over the years. And continue to. But in this case it seems obvious to me that he does not understand emotive worship and fears his own emotions, as if emotions are equivalent in his mind with sexuality. That's unfortunate, as are his remarks.
Mike Worrell Emotions come and go but the word of God stands forever we don’t base our faith on our emotions I’m afraid you’re wrong
Totally agree Mike. He's using his own experience or lack of experience with emotion to filter into his theological understanding of how our relationship with God should be. I find the interview with Piper and MacArthur very interesting. Just highlights it even more.
Mary Heiman he didn’t say to base our faith on emotions . Doesn’t love hope for the best?
I'm late to this comment thread, but I need to chime in here. Dr. Brown articulates his point well on the expression of music. I find it interesting that for some reason there are two extremes that seem diametrically opposed in the context of a worship setting. One says "We only will sing present day songs that are written today, and the other we only will sing the hymns of yesteryear. What? Songs can't be written anymore? Why not do both? I personally love many of the old hymns. I think we in the charismatic circles need to incorporate them more. That being said, the scripture teaches in Psalm 96:1-3
"Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
There can be "mindless" worship with no true connection to God and not truth attached, but the opposite can be true as the following quote illustrates:
"In order to reach and to mislead the elect, Satan starts by getting his tools to the forefront of many churches and communities, inspiring them to interpret the Bible according to his purposes… “de-mythologizing” the Bible … as a book of fairy stories. Others are to make a fetish out of the Bible, and to kill off the Spirit … by the letter.
"And where that is not sufficient, Satan dispenses his spiritual gifts with reckless abundance. Many of his tools are brilliant preachers, they can speak in tongues, heal the sick, and perform other miracles…"
-Abram Poljak
what?
