I love Alex and Steph! They're probably the most stable and healthiest relationship in the entire LiS franchise. Who would have thought, a LiS game with a happy ending.
I got very sad when I finished the game, I got the best ending, and stayed in Haven with Steph, but I still got sad because I wanted so much more, I just wanted to exist in that world, in that town with these characters for as long as I could, I would have played chapters and chapters of just simple days, helping out the townsfolk with their problems small and large, running the record store with Steph and hanging out with Ryan, I would have played a full campaign of D&D in this video game if they let me. I just wanted to watch Alex have the home she deserves for as long as I could. At least I’ve got Wavelengths to look forward to!
I know right? Why does one romance option disappear when you choose the other? I wanted a happy ending for all 3 of them. They were some of the coolest characters I've seen in a LiS game.

The Chen's house breaks me. Alex was so quick to offer to sell her guitar when her dad lost his job, even though she admits that it was sacred to her. She sacrificed so much of herself to try keeping the family together 😭 Also, I am so grateful that you decided to share your first playthrough with us. It has been a joy to watch your reaction to everything!
...And you get a nice look into Gabe's and John's looming tragedy too. Hitting Alex, even by mistake, is unforgivable for John. He realizes he's completely failed his children, his wife, and himself. True or false, he believes that they would be better off without him. Yes, he abandons his children and we can and should condemn him for doing it, but we can perhaps also understand why he did it. And as with so many mistakes we make as people, especially as teenagers, Gabe probably didn't realize he was driving his father to that breaking point until it was too late. Sure his journey to find his father probably had anger behind it, but it was his guilt that was the primary driver (at least IMO)

I got the good ending too, choosing to stay in Haven with Ryan. She went through too many F-UP things, and now in Haven she has everything. Friends, a job, a home and love. It's wonderful. This game ❤️❤️❤️

i like how you thought she`ll go seek adventure and comeback to Haven later on, i went the same route, but the other way, i couldnt just leave haven after a tragedy like that, especially for Ryan, even tho he didnt support me in my playthru, (didnt tell Eleanore about Gabes death + didnt take pikes fear) he lost pretty much everyone he had, his best friend, his closes friends, and his father after all this, couldnt leave him to deal with it by himself, i feel like he needed someone there. You did an absolutely amazing job as Steph and Erika did an amazing job as Alex. I cried so hard playing this game. I very rarely ever cried but this game really made me cry. I can't even begin to put into words how amazing and powerful this game is it is truly a very powerful game it hits the emotions so hard.
I love how your entire decision making process in the end was like someone giving voice to what I went through. Especially realizing that unlike what video games try to teach us, that kind of decision isn't final. You can travel the world with Steph for a while and come back to settle down later. Only difference might be that I felt like seeking adventure is doing it for Steph, because it's what she wanted. Still not sure if it's what she "needed" and I'm pretty bummed we performed without her (kind of feels like her dream didn't work out).
I can't believe it's over either! Now I can go back and watch the other parts I missed live! I'm glad I got to see this last one live though (sorry the credits got muted; damn you UA-cam & DMCA!)! Like I said after you finished, I'm SO SO SO proud of you Katy! You, Erica, and the entire cast gave incredible performances, and I cared about everyone in Haven Springs! Also, huge props to Deck 9 for making a compelling game/story, and Haven Springs such a vibrant town! No one has genuinely never had an impact on my gaming experience like the characters of Steph and Alex. After playing it twice it could be my favourite game in the series and favourite game of all time, yourself and the the rest of the team did amazing
Great job on getting everyone on the council to support you! I was impressed by how many people didn't manage to accomplish that. I felt such a relief when everybody stepped in for Alex in my playthrough as well (pretty much by making the same choices you made). Personally, I chose for Alex to stay in Haven, the main reason being that I felt like she wanted to finally belong somewhere & have a chance at a normal life. Like the normal girl she thinks about in the very first episode - "I'll just be a normal girl, living a normal life". So staying in Haven felt like a good choice for her to get what she wanted. It may not be the most exciting conclusion, but not everything in life has to be. Sometimes, being "normal" is just as good as having constant adventures. Still, leaving Haven is a valid choice, too - just like Gabe says & along the same lines of your own reasoning. I like how both options work really well for Alex, props to the writing team. And a huge THANK YOU to all of the actors & developers. Katy, Erika, Han & Eric (and everyone else), you've done an AMAZING job, made me laugh, cry & go through a whole range of emotional states. Alex is easily my favorite LiS protagonist, and while playing the game all I really wanted was for her to be happy - which is a great achievement considering I'm wishing happiness & want to give a hug to a fictional character, lol. Played through the game with Ryan as Alex's love interest (I know I'm in the minority here probably, but man, he's just... idk, I felt like he deserved some love too :D), will give Steph a try on my second playthrough :)
For me, the final decision came down to how Steph reacted to the idea of leaving in episode 4 - the way she talked about in on the rooftop, it's clearly what she needs, so it didn't feel right to trap her in Haven Springs, particularly when Alex isn't tied there. My head-canon is that they come back to visit sometimes - have it as a stop when they tour or something - but it's possible they went out and had their adventures and never looked back.
holy crap that ending gets me everytime I've watched it atleast 20 times and allways my eyes get a tear... You guys did amazing job, this was one hell of a game. I decided that I will take it a tradition to play it atleast once a year...
and a little fact I was planning to play this from like mid chapter 2 to end of chapter 3 I just couldn't put this game down and took the rest of it in one sitting... this is just one of my favorite games of all time.
Was impressed that you not only made all the same choices I made but largely had the same logic I had each time. I actually feel strongly about the ending and that 21 is a bit too young to settling down in a small town to build your future. Go out and have some experiences. You can always come back later. Especially for someone who has had such a hard life. And if you're romancing Steph it's even better since it's also what she wants.
without telling you my entire life story, i want to say that the LiS games (not counting LiS2, cuz i never really gave it a chance) has meant more to me than anyone will ever know, demographiclly, im a 49 year old man, a gamer with gamer kids and even a gamer grandkid or 2, these games have ..........cant even explain, i will just say thank you so much to Dontnod and Decknine, all of the amazing performers and crafters of these games, Katy, you were amazing in this game, cant wait for the DLC feel free to share with your dev friends Thank you all !!
SPOILER: Pike supports you if you take his fear, so he has the courage to stand up to Typhon. Charlotte doesn't support you if you take her anger. It messes her up and she blames Alex for everything going to shit. In Chapter 1, if you tell Gabe about your past instead of your power, he gives you the matchbook and explains it's meaning to him. Otherwise you just find it in his personal effects later in the game. I still like telling him about her power, though. Both scenes are good.

I just recently had the opportunity to play the game which is why this comment is so late I'm sorry. I enjoyed watching each stream and you even made me cry along with you in the previous episode and in this one as well. This game was so great and you had a big part in making that happen. Kudos to all the cast (especially to Erika). Thanks again and I hope you know how much True Colors, along with ALL the Life is Strange games, mean to a lot of people (including me).
re: match -- if you tell Gabe about Alex's past (and not her powers) he tells her about his own past and the reasoning behind the match, and he gives it to you then. That's what I did in my playthrough!

Also it’s great to see you react emotionally even though you were part of the game understood the premise, shows how much of an impact a game like this can have on all of our lives. oh gosh, I got an Alex remembering her difficult past while dying from the tremendous fall in the mine in the eye (I think it was that, for something they say that when you are dying you see your whole life go by,... well. I was shaking during the fall! omg), this chapter was amazing!, the cherry on the cake !. Alex walked up to Haven with all those wounds to face Jed! she is such a tremendously strong character and at the same time so sensitive, tender and in need of love! (She wanted to hug her), and Steph of course jumped to help and support her first, these two beautiful women, although video game characters restore faith in true love. Thank you for this Playthrough Katy, you are a sweetheart, so simple, so sensitive, Thank you for bringing Steph to life, waiting for the dlc and wishing there were more of Steph and Alex in the future!. meanwhile, to resort to fanfiction. oh and greetings from Colombia!💜

I know Life is Strange is an anthology series and we usually have to say goodbye to the main characters at the end of their game but it had never hurt me as much with any other LiS game as it did with this one.

2:57:24 -- So I Googled "World's Largest Ball of Twine," and it looks like in that photo Alex and Steph are at the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum in Missouri. On the far left, it looks like they are in Times Square. Second from the right of course is Charlotte and Ethan. I can't quite tell, but it looks like the far right is Riley (and a "friend") at college. Presumably those last two photos are different if you make different choices regarding Charlotte and Eleanor during the course of the game.

Can we comment on the part of this episode where Alex just says, "STOP"? To me this is her Captain Marvel/the gloves are off moment. Her power seems exponentially stronger here as she holds Jed transfixed. You could see the red and blue flashing in her pupils. It went from "I can read your mood and your thoughts" to "I can feel you trying to pull away....Don't" Also, she held the rest of the room in her thrall, without breaking a sweat, wounded. Duckie mentioned in the news article how the room was mesmerized. Superpowers indeed.
At first, I tried to refrain from watching anything about True Colors, but when I saw you had the vods for your streams I kinda changed my mind. And you know what? I enjoyed every minute. Not only because I would've played very similar to how you did, but also because it made me feel vulnerable and tap into my emotions again. It was something I didn't even know I needed tbh. All I can say is thanks to all the devs and the cast for making this beautiful game come to life. The scene at the festival and the look on Alex's face (and sharing those looks with Steph) made me go for this ending. She looked so happy in that moment. Also, Gabe AND her father died in this town. If all the relationships she made are strong enough they will persist.

I got the same ending and I'm honestly so happy with how it turned out. Putting myself in Alex's shoes, Haven Springs as charming as it is, is the place where the remaining members of your family got murdered. Every corner of the town, every single face you're going to meet there will be constantly reminding you of what it would've been like if your brother was alive, living besides you. And living in Gabe's apartment for years will be too much to bear. And the fact that her dad died alone there while Gabe was looking for him for so long is way too much. I think Alex needs this. She doesn't need to supress the memories, she just needs to distracts herself with other places, experiences, other people ( maybe a carrer in singing ? ) and keeps living, and the entire thing will slowly start to be like a dream that you deeply cherish instead of living it and remembering it wherever you go, his apartment, his belongings, the rooftop.. you can't escape it. I don't why but I find the idea of staying in Haven is so depressing and it's crushing my soul just thinking about it. WHAT A GAME. Deck nine outdid themselves and I can't wait where the series goes next. Can't wait for the DLC ! I love Steph. Also can we talk about how AGAIN I got an ending in which two baes leaving everything behind driving off into the sunset ? On brand. 😂😂

I love this game so much! I honestly prefer the staying in haven ending personally but I do wish that if you leave with steph she was on stage with you playing the drums rather than just sending a txt but oh well 😝. Can't wait for the wavelengths dlc I'm so excited!!

Loved this game. I cried my way through this episode as well. Great to watch your perspective as well. Made the choice to stay in Haven but reasoned in a similar way to you. Stay now and leave later or leave now and come back later. It was also great that Alex and Steph stayed together regardless of the choice. 💜

Dude I loved the characters in this game so much. Such a great game! And steph is mvp.. because no matter what she has Alex’s back. I love these games.. but for some reason they are the only games that awake from buried emotions in me.. every time.
It took me a minute to decide but this is how I thought about it: New Haven has been through a lot, the mining accident, Gabe’s death, Jeb turning out to be a fake, and New Haven’s lively hood being exposed as corrupt. As we saw, this put New Haven in the National spotlight in a negative way. New Haven needs to heal. That’s what this town needs is Alex to help them heal and move on as Gabe pointed out. Alex and Steph still have a life time ahead of them. I just feel like since we took the need to expose Typhon, it would be good will to deal the the after effects of your descsions.

Not only is this my favorite Life is Strange installment but it has one of the most heartwarming endings ever if you get it absolutely perfect. Only thing I'm kinda upset about is the fact my favorite mountain boi Ryan wasn't in the ending premonition unless you chose him as a lover! Furthermore (no lie I sound like Duckie right now lmao), I loved the performances and characters so much that I'm in the process of making my own interpretation of the ending I got with my own character added: Vincent Kennedy. So excited to write a story based off of this game, EEEEE I CAN'T STOP GUSHING ABOUT IT!!

Like I said after you finished, I'm SO SO SO proud of you Katy! You, Erica, and the entire cast gave incredible performances, and I cared about everyone in Haven Springs! Also, huge props to Deck 9 for making a compelling game/story, and Haven Springs such a vibrant town! I definitely want to play this again to find things I missed, and I can't wait for Wavelengths & more Steph!

No one has genuinely never had an impact on my gaming experience like the characters of Steph and Alex. After playing it twice it could be my favourite game in the series and favourite game of all time, yourself and the the rest of the team did amazing

Great job on getting everyone on the council to support you! I was impressed by how many people didn't manage to accomplish that. I felt such a relief when everybody stepped in for Alex in my playthrough as well (pretty much by making the same choices you made). Personally, I chose for Alex to stay in Haven, the main reason being that I felt like she wanted to finally belong somewhere & have a chance at a normal life. Like the normal girl she thinks about in the very first episode - "I'll just be a normal girl, living a normal life". So staying in Haven felt like a good choice for her to get what she wanted. It may not be the most exciting conclusion, but not everything in life has to be. Sometimes, being "normal" is just as good as having constant adventures.
Still, leaving Haven is a valid choice, too - just like Gabe says & along the same lines of your own reasoning. I like how both options work really well for Alex, props to the writing team. And a huge THANK YOU to all of the actors & developers. Katy, Erika, Han & Eric (and everyone else), you've done an AMAZING job, made me laugh, cry & go through a whole range of emotional states. Alex is easily my favorite LiS protagonist, and while playing the game all I really wanted was for her to be happy - which is a great achievement considering I'm wishing happiness & want to give a hug to a fictional character, lol.
Played through the game with Ryan as Alex's love interest (I know I'm in the minority here probably, but man, he's just... idk, I felt like he deserved some love too :D), will give Steph a try on my second playthrough :)
For Ryan, I 100% agree with staying in Haven Springs - but Steph clearly needs to get out there and let adventure find her.
For me, the final decision came down to how Steph reacted to the idea of leaving in episode 4 - the way she talked about in on the rooftop, it's clearly what she needs, so it didn't feel right to trap her in Haven Springs, particularly when Alex isn't tied there. My head-canon is that they come back to visit sometimes - have it as a stop when they tour or something - but it's possible they went out and had their adventures and never looked back.
holy crap that ending gets me everytime I've watched it atleast 20 times and allways my eyes get a tear... You guys did amazing job, this was one hell of a game. I decided that I will take it a tradition to play it atleast once a year...
and a little fact I was planning to play this from like mid chapter 2 to end of chapter 3 I just couldn't put this game down and took the rest of it in one sitting... this is just one of my favorite games of all time.
Was impressed that you not only made all the same choices I made but largely had the same logic I had each time. I actually feel strongly about the ending and that 21 is a bit too young to settling down in a small town to build your future. Go out and have some experiences. You can always come back later. Especially for someone who has had such a hard life. And if you're romancing Steph it's even better since it's also what she wants.

without telling you my entire life story, i want to say that the LiS games (not counting LiS2, cuz i never really gave it a chance) has meant more to me than anyone will ever know, demographiclly, im a 49 year old man, a gamer with gamer kids and even a gamer grandkid or 2, these games have ..........cant even explain, i will just say thank you so much to Dontnod and Decknine, all of the amazing performers and crafters of these games, Katy, you were amazing in this game, cant wait for the DLC

Pike supports you if you take his fear, so he has the courage to stand up to Typhon.
Charlotte doesn't support you if you take her anger. It messes her up and she blames Alex for everything going to shit.
In Chapter 1, if you tell Gabe about your past instead of your power, he gives you the matchbook and explains it's meaning to him. Otherwise you just find it in his personal effects later in the game. I still like telling him about her power, though. Both scenes are good.
Im gonna miss watching you play the stephs route, but I am looking forward to the Ryan route too

I just recently had the opportunity to play the game which is why this comment is so late I'm sorry. I enjoyed watching each stream and you even made me cry along with you in the previous episode and in this one as well. This game was so great and you had a big part in making that happen. Kudos to all the cast (especially to Erika). Thanks again and I hope you know how much True Colors, along with ALL the Life is Strange games, mean to a lot of people (including me).
re: match -- if you tell Gabe about Alex's past (and not her powers) he tells her about his own past and the reasoning behind the match, and he gives it to you then. That's what I did in my playthrough!

Also it’s great to see you react emotionally even though you were part of the game understood the premise, shows how much of an impact a game like this can have on all of our lives. oh gosh, I got an Alex remembering her difficult past while dying from the tremendous fall in the mine in the eye (I think it was that, for something they say that when you are dying you see your whole life go by,... well. I was shaking during the fall! omg), this chapter was amazing!, the cherry on the cake !. Alex walked up to Haven with all those wounds to face Jed! she is such a tremendously strong character and at the same time so sensitive, tender and in need of love! (She wanted to hug her), and Steph of course jumped to help and support her first, these two beautiful women, although video game characters restore faith in true love. Thank you for this Playthrough Katy, you are a sweetheart, so simple, so sensitive, Thank you for bringing Steph to life, waiting for the dlc and wishing there were more of Steph and Alex in the future!. meanwhile, to resort to fanfiction. oh and greetings from Colombia!💜

I know Life is Strange is an anthology series and we usually have to say goodbye to the main characters at the end of their game but it had never hurt me as much with any other LiS game as it did with this one.

2:57:24 -- So I Googled "World's Largest Ball of Twine," and it looks like in that photo Alex and Steph are at the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum in Missouri. On the far left, it looks like they are in Times Square. Second from the right of course is Charlotte and Ethan. I can't quite tell, but it looks like the far right is Riley (and a "friend") at college. Presumably those last two photos are different if you make different choices regarding Charlotte and Eleanor during the course of the game.

Can we comment on the part of this episode where Alex just says, "STOP"? To me this is her Captain Marvel/the gloves are off moment. Her power seems exponentially stronger here as she holds Jed transfixed. You could see the red and blue flashing in her pupils. It went from "I can read your mood and your thoughts" to "I can feel you trying to pull away....Don't"
Also, she held the rest of the room in her thrall, without breaking a sweat, wounded. Duckie mentioned in the news article how the room was mesmerized. Superpowers indeed.
At first, I tried to refrain from watching anything about True Colors, but when I saw you had the vods for your streams I kinda changed my mind.
And you know what? I enjoyed every minute.
Not only because I would've played very similar to how you did, but also because it made me feel vulnerable and tap into my emotions again. It was something I didn't even know I needed tbh.
All I can say is thanks to all the devs and the cast for making this beautiful game come to life.

The scene at the festival and the look on Alex's face (and sharing those looks with Steph) made me go for this ending. She looked so happy in that moment.

I got the same ending and I'm honestly so happy with how it turned out. Putting myself in Alex's shoes, Haven Springs as charming as it is, is the place where the remaining members of your family got murdered. Every corner of the town, every single face you're going to meet there will be constantly reminding you of what it would've been like if your brother was alive, living besides you. And living in Gabe's apartment for years will be too much to bear. And the fact that her dad died alone there while Gabe was looking for him for so long is way too much. I think Alex needs this. She doesn't need to supress the memories, she just needs to distracts herself with other places, experiences, other people ( maybe a carrer in singing ? ) and keeps living, and the entire thing will slowly start to be like a dream that you deeply cherish instead of living it and remembering it wherever you go, his apartment, his belongings, the rooftop.. you can't escape it. I don't why but I find the idea of staying in Haven is so depressing and it's crushing my soul just thinking about it.
WHAT A GAME. Deck nine outdid themselves and I can't wait where the series goes next. Can't wait for the DLC ! I love Steph.

Made the choice to stay in Haven but reasoned in a similar way to you. Stay now and leave later or leave now and come back later. It was also great that Alex and Steph stayed together regardless of the choice. 💜

Dude I loved the characters in this game so much. Such a great game! And steph is mvp.. because no matter what she has Alex’s back. I love these games.. but for some reason they are the only games that awake from buried emotions in me.. every time.

It took me a minute to decide but this is how I thought about it: New Haven has been through a lot, the mining accident, Gabe’s death, Jeb turning out to be a fake, and New Haven’s lively hood being exposed as corrupt. As we saw, this put New Haven in the National spotlight in a negative way. New Haven needs to heal. That’s what this town needs is Alex to help them heal and move on as Gabe pointed out. Alex and Steph still have a life time ahead of them. I just feel like since we took the need to expose Typhon, it would be good will to deal the the after effects of your descsions.
I really enjoyed watching this playthrough. You got the best fricking endinggg.

I’m totally on your side Katy. I cried almost the whole 5th episode. I wasn’t able to stop. I’m an ugly crier too 😖 but I was all alone 😅 I felt so sorry for these two characters. The pain came right through the screen. It just hit me.

Not only is this my favorite Life is Strange installment but it has one of the most heartwarming endings ever if you get it absolutely perfect. Only thing I'm kinda upset about is the fact my favorite mountain boi Ryan wasn't in the ending premonition unless you chose him as a lover! Furthermore (no lie I sound like Duckie right now lmao), I loved the performances and characters so much that I'm in the process of making my own interpretation of the ending I got with my own character added: Vincent Kennedy. So excited to write a story based off of this game, EEEEE I CAN'T STOP GUSHING ABOUT IT!!
