Excellent video, really very, very good. Really thorough, covered and answered pretty much every question I would have wanted to ask. As always, the production standards exceptionally high - virtually broadcast standard - really enjoyed watching this, well done - a truly excellent production (as always!). Two things: 1) The 'Car Stands' notice: car stands are like axle stands for a train. Once the carriage body has been lifted using a four (or more) post lift (like a Mattison Jack), car stands are then placed beneath the body to safely support the weight. I should imagine (I don't know for sure) that it says 'Car Stand Only' because its not to be used as a jacking or lifting point, its solely to be used for the static support of the vehicle after it has been lifted. 2) Regarding the headlight on Cl 400 series BR(S) EMUs. The centre headlight (sometimes referred to as a 'Hair Raiser': 'cos if you were stood in the four-foot and saw that light heading straight for you, it would make your hair stand up on end thru fear!). However, I digress. The centre headlight was a halogen headlight, uses exactly the same sort of halogen headlight bulb you would find on your car. I even heard of folk going to Halfords to get a replacement for a failure on-the-road. I can certainly confirm that one of the diesel locomotives at the heritage railway I worked at definitely had Halford Halogen headlight bulbs at both ends. So I think the use of that 'cool white' LED for the headlight on the CEP/CIG/EPB model is perfectly suitable. However, for class 101 etc DMMUs, only the centre headlight was a halogen bulb, the side 'marker lights' were a 24vDC Tungsten filament bulb, which were indeed more yellowish in colour. Thanks for producing and uploading this video. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant as always. 10 points out 10. Keep up the good work. Best Wishes, Zac.
Cracking review of a loco I've never seen out before. Really well detailed and explained review. I take your view on how the 280 pound price is formed but it is nice. I especially love the lit up destination board. All the best Matt
An absolutely brilliant review - very well written and clearly presented, and you definitely know your stuff. Particularly liked the focus on the coupling mechanism, that helped a lot as I was trying to find out about how these things go together with that wide corridor connection. Many thanks and keep up the good work.
I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. The shortened leading/trailing exterior doors were to enable an extra two seats and allow the driver to have the external cab door open in random with the passenger doors!
Also, the 'Car Stands Only' warning on the underside is there because the Car Stand is the Emergency Anti-Roll device for the train. Basically, when the train is correctly mounted on its suspension and bogies, there's a gap of about 8.5mm on S8 or 10mm of S7 (due to differing track profiles between network rail managed and London Underground managed) which is closed, as in body tight to the bogie when the train is in danger of derailment. For example, it may have entered a crossing or set of points too quickly. This feature means there is the necessary play to prevent the train from derailment. Although it is unlikely, this warning has to be here to stop anybody from bring daft enough to show their fingers or any other part of their body into the gap. It is very peculiarly worded for what it is supposed to represent/prevent.
Fantastic in-depth review. Iv'e actually spent over £300 on a loco before... Yes it's expensive but if it's more of a 1 off special and/or it suits your model then I think it's nice to splash out occasionally. I would be worried if all loco's cost that much though! Cheers, Michael
I like the train pack and a very well done on the review. I am a bit surprised that Bachmann didn't include interior lighting to this model considering that they fit saloon lights to their range as standard. This train appear to use the same couplers as the Blue Pullman and the Windoff MPV that I have previously covered on my channel :). I just want to say keep up the great work on the videos and consider me subscribed!
Thanks for your support! I'm surprised too considering the cost. I wonder if there was a plan to fit them as standard as the centre cars appear to have pick ups that go no where... Possibly an excuse for the LT Museum to get folk to buy the lighting kits from Train Tech separately, but perhaps that's being cynical?... I do really like the coupling system, secure and easy to use. I've dropped you a sub and am going to check out your vids now. Thanks for stopping by!
Hello again. Not a problem and I hope that my amateur reviews will help with potential purchases. Most of my reviews that are older than 6 months may not be commentable and I have done this to keep up to date with my viewers easier as then they can focus on my newer content. I have more reviews planned for the Autumn/Winter this year as during the summer months I now mainly cover railways and transport. But a review of a train that is popular may pop up on my channel outside the timetable. Things are bit hit and miss at the moment as I am awaiting a move to a new house. But once I get everything sorted out and everything is back to normal. I will have a regular flow of brand new videos to come :). But you are welcome to drop me a message on any of the reviews that the comments are disabled on if you want to ask me any questions about the model train in that video. I totally agree with you about the couplings on that S-stock pack though as they are quite robust unlike those on the Bachmann Class 150 models that are prone to snapping off if one isn't careful :). Best Regards Ash.
Where did you get the WAGN sign from Wood Street? Always wondered how to get hold of memorabilia like that destined for the dustbin when a station is refurbed.
London Transport Museum Depot Open Day at Acton. They often sell off stuff that surplus to the museum archives. It's usually mostly tat - but every now and then you get something good come up for sale (and at a reasonable price to! None of this eBay overindulgence!). Sadly I missed out on Holland Park frieze last time round! They've had a lot of old WAGN signage for a couple of open days now. I seem to recall a WAGN few platform numbers left from last time. I've also got some Hatton Cross frieze that I picked up at one of their open days as well - look out for it! Other memorabilia like the two NSE signs you may see in videos come from classic car shows (funnily enough). A friend of mine regularly goes to them and often ends up being my buyer >.< Good spot on it being Wood Street by the way. Do you know it's from there for definite? I always thought it could feasibly have been from Walthamstow Central as well. Would like it to have come from Wood St though as it's my closest NR station.
Great video :). I was looking at buying one of these, but got put off by the horrible plasic ends (which you pointed out). I ended up going for an EFE 99937 1959/1962 model which I'm having motorised. Can I ask how / where you obtained the track with 4 rails? Is this something that you made yourself or is this something that can be purchased? Also, can I ask how difficult was it to convert yours to DCC given the style of motor?
3rd/4th rail is Peco Code 60 track, with a pack of peco 3rd rail insulators. Very easy to add the chip, there's a screw compartment located on the underside of each motor car if I recall, no need to remove the body. You will need two chips for each motor car.
Thanks very much mate :). I'm only getting one of the 'motor' carriages motorised for now so should still only need one decoder, but I'll keep your advice in mind re the way to program both for the time I 'upgrade' the second motor carriage. I'm looking forward to getting mine up and running :)
very good question, and I'm not sure of a definitive answer. I know Dapol at least worked with DRS on livery application, not sure if it went as far as Vossloh but it may have done!

Where to get the London Underground model?
From Ethiopia
We just bought this train last week, it's now £340!
What dcc chips did you use?
Think I've just got the standard Bachmann chips in it :)
I see a lot of s stock in the metropolitan line to Uxbridge and back to Algate

Wien Bahn they're available on the London Transport Museum shop website
Thank you very much for the information, The wagons come by separately or together ?
