It is dad that many doctors don’t have or don’t take the time to explain these things to their patients. I will do my best to make up for that deficiency by continuing to share information online that I think might be useful to those with glaucoma.

I've been dealing with glaucoma since I was 28 years old. I was on Timoptic/Timonol for over 20 years before I developed an allergic reaction. Went through many of the drops the Dr mentioned but I've been doing well on COSOPT PF for over three years now. Fortunately I'm retired military and that medication is covered.

I was without eye drops for 9 months bcse me eyes and my body couldn't tolerate any eyedrops even the preservative free. My doctor didn't talk to me about Rhopressa, and this was my blessing! I had to change doctor bcse insurance issue and my new doctor prescribed me Rhopressa and it worked soooo good for me. I asked the pharmacist about a coupon and I found it in google that had to be from the manufacturer.

Dr Richardson you are so 😎 YET professional at the same time. You have an open mind and are passionate about offering patient “care” not just satisfying appointments to check numbers and quick exam. This helps to restore some of the distrust and sense of loneliness and exhaustion felt by seemingly many patients. The mere fact that you allow patients to come in and have pressure readings is everything. There is no reason why this should not be a standard. We can check blood pressure and glucose but not the pressure in your 👁 jewels... Keep strengthening the quality of the service you offer. Ocular patients need just as much care as patients with notably systemic issues.

For glaucoma with me, I on pilocarpine , brimonidine , dorzolamide timolol, and latanoprost. So far they are doing a really great job of keeping my pressures down and I never had to have glaucoma surgery. I pray that it continues to work and stay like this so I don't have to have surgery.

Not to be negative but they will eventually wear out. Already you're on several forms and that's a clear indication 1 or 2 didn't work. That's the thing with these meds... why is everybody taking so many drops? Because they clear don't work as they should. Then many have to have surgery. Are you in the Glaucoma support group? You would see there how soooo many have had surgeries it's almost like the standard AND THEN the surgeries have to be repeated or tweaked. YES it's time for better treatment!!!!

It's not uncommon to have to try a few different classes of intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering eye drops before landing on the best combination of effectiveness and lack of side effects. Unfortunately, many insurances will not pay for the brand names that work best for the individual. I hope thay you are able to find a tolerable, effective, and affordable alternative to Combigan.

That's not acceptable. Have you had your visual field test? Also, have you had your blood pressure checked? Some of the drops decrease blood pressure which in turn affects blood circulation to the eye. This is not good for glaucoma.

I'm afraid it would be irresponsible for anyone to offer individualized medical advice online without first performing an in-person examination.
However, surgery is often recommended to those who cannot tolerate (or are otherwise having difficulty) using their prescription eye drops. Cataract surgery--often combined with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)--may be one such option.
