After receiving OSCAR, when Koti said that he is my Sishya, he didn't agree and didn't allow him to say that in front of anyone. I am huge fan of ar rahman sir and all that he said about rrr and Oscars I have immense respect towards him. However, I don't agree with his point about mm keeravani's career starting after 2015 (his reference to baahubali). He was a great composer and wonderful music director before as well. I know he was referring his recognition in terms of pan India and international level but his career was wonderful in Telugu industry. Just saying..

By 2015 - even before Bahubali - he already scored music for over 200 films in many Indian languages; and won a handful of state and national awards. Around the same time ARR ended Ilayaraja's dominance in the Tamil films, Keeravani ended Ilayaraja's rule in the Telugu films. He's been the sought after music director in the Telugu industry ever since - for almost 30 years now.
That still makes him underrated. Because only Tamil or Telugu audiences seem to have known all these things. He deserved more appreciation on a national level then.

First of all, ARR didn't flock to the west. The western filmmaker came in search of him because of his sheer talent. Why didn't Danny Boyle choose MMK instead of ARR? Well, that explains everything. If only you had a little common sense. Secondly, the reason MMK received a golden globe is only because of Rajamouli and the line of producers who decided to market it overseas on a highly large scale even when the film was trashy while comparing to the other truly elevated artistic regional films. So now tell me, who flocked to the west seeking their validation and a place in the Hollywood academy award domain? So the entire credit goes to the director who knew how to sell a mass mainstream movie in the West and the producers who knew how to market it well abroad. If the Indian directors and producers who collaborated with ARR for many film had followed the same strategies and paths, he would have brought at least a couple of Oscars every year.

I am huge fan of ar rahman sir and all that he said about rrr and Oscars I have immense respect towards him.
However, I don't agree with his point about mm keeravani's career starting after 2015 (his reference to baahubali). He was a great composer and wonderful music director before as well. I know he was referring his recognition in terms of pan India and international level but his career was wonderful in Telugu industry.

Great comments by ARR. Although, Keeravani was not really underrated. By 2015 - even before Bahubali - he already scored music for over 200 films in many Indian languages; and won a handful of state and national awards. Around the same time ARR ended Ilayaraja's dominance in the Tamil films, Keeravani ended Ilayaraja's rule in the Telugu films. He's been the sought after music director in the Telugu industry ever since - for almost 30 years now.
That still makes him underrated. Because only Tamil or Telugu audiences seem to have known all these things. He deserved more appreciation on a national level then.

First of all, ARR didn't flock to the west. The western filmmaker came in search of him because of his sheer talent. Why didn't Danny Boyle choose MMK instead of ARR? Well, that explains everything. If only you had a little common sense.
Secondly, the reason MMK received a golden globe is only because of Rajamouli and the line of producers who decided to market it overseas on a highly large scale even when the film was trashy while comparing to the other truly elevated artistic regional films. So now tell me, who flocked to the west seeking their validation and a place in the Hollywood academy award domain?
So the entire credit goes to the director who knew how to sell a mass mainstream movie in the West and the producers who knew how to market it well abroad.
If the Indian directors and producers who collaborated with ARR for many film had followed the same strategies and paths, he would have brought at least a couple of Oscars every year.
