I think our bags have to work for us in two ways: 1. carry our stuff around, in a practical and efficient manner meaning suitable for our particular lifestyle and 2. compliment us, after all they still are an item we wear, the same way we choose a top to suit us. So that top or bag must express our fashion personality, and also accentuate all the right features.
I own a rectangular mini and it works for me in both ways, I carry very little around on a daily basis and also I'm a very tiny girl. I've seen the mini not look the best on a few body frames and it isn't because of their size but rather the bags proportions. The mini is no smaller in size than a woc, but yet the woc can be rocked on taller and curvier girls but there's just something about the mini's proportions that looks awkward. I think it's just that it's a scaled down version of another bag (same thing with alma bb) that it gives the appearance of an adult carrying a toy. It absolutely works both ways too, I've owned, loved, but had to sell my GST and celine phantom, not so much because of their large size but rather the boxiness of the bags looked ridiculous on my frame and drowned me and made me look like a little kid attempting to carry her mom's bag. In conclusion, have you considered a red woc at all? I know you own two but they are insanely gorgeous in red!
Hi, Minnie! I've been singing the praises of my rectangular lambskin mini for quite some time! Your SA was wrong, the chain was always longer on the rectangular, and my SA pointed that out to me when I went in to choose which type, way back when. It holds SO much more than my WOC, I end up never using my WOC. I feel that the mini holds about as much as a medium flap without the cumbersome flap, so compare THOSE prices, imho. You can use a cardholder as your wallet, but I often just put a few cards into the slip pocket inside, and cash in the zip pocket (I rarely use cash). My most used card might ride in the outer pocket if I'm shopping. I have used mine SO much! I'm on waiting lists at two boutiques for a caviar rectangular mini, for travel, next. Never should have bought a WOC, I've yet to ever use mine...it just doesn't hold enough due to my iPhone six plus with Speck case. BTW, so glad I didn't get the square mini, my six plus with case would not fit, once I'd upgraded to it! Here is a photo of what easily fits in the mini. I am thinking to get a rectangle mini sometimes next year, so I will go for the rectangle one over the square one, the square one is super super cute but the rectangle one just like a mini version of the classic flap, but in a more hands-free and cuter way. Black colour will never go wrong, but the pinkish red colour looks unique too, definitely stands out in a good way specially if you already have a black Chanel bag(s), this colour may be more fun to be added in your Chanel family.
I just bought the mini square a few days ago because I wanted something small + hands-free. I'm still within the 2 week "grace" period but, so far, I LOVE this little bag. For me (+ my lifestyle), we go to a lot of "cocktail attire" events and, though I love my CC timeless clutch, it is difficult to juggle that, hors d'oeuvres, wine glasses, shake hands, etc. At 5'3", it's the right length; I can do this as cross-body and not look "funny" but would probably do that when more casually dressed. My biggest concern is that I'm on the "older" end of the spectrum (60+) but everyone at the boutique opined that this looked great . . . on me. As for YOU + your quandary, I'd go with a "bluer" red; the rectangular one is too "pink" and would be harder to pair with different outfits/colors.

I think you should return them both since neither bag is making your heart sing and they are both far too expensive for anything less than singing.. 😘❤️

I have the so black chevron rectangle mini and love it. I can use it as a clutch, wear it on one arm or wear it as a crossbody. If you really wanted you could wear it as a short bag but I worry about damaging the lambskin. I have a black chanel maxi and basically just wanted a smaller option that I could wear different ways. For that price, get something that you truly love especially for a bag that you won't use as often as you think. Have you tried the LV Twist? I love those, and it will definitely fit more.

I bought a rectangular new mini but returned it. I found the strap drop length too short. I was lucky enough to find a pre-loved mini with 4 grommets and I LOVE it. The strap drop is much longer and like you said you have more versatility with doubling the chains, etc. They are both beautiful bags but when you are spending that much money you want to be sure!! Love your videos❤️
I have the rectangular mini flap in black lambskin and ruthenium hardware-i adore it so much. The size is perfect and for me more practical than the square. Like you im a little thicker and a little shorter than u i am 5'4 almost and i think the square looks weird on my frame too. I would return both and wait for something that makes you happy! I am one that can never wait so i always track something down. I found that I personally could fit more into the rectangular mini than the square. Hope you fond the one that you want!!! xxx
I'm currently on the wait list for black lamb and black caviar minis (rectangular). I prefer the rectangular because it looks closer to the classic silhouettes. I also heard it holds more, and the longer strap drop works better for me. I think you should try and find a black rectangular mini 8-)

I definitely like the rectangular one better, and I even don't mind the colour; it looks more pink than it does red! But I agree with HaveLouisWillTravel, these bags are clearly not making your heart sing, and for these price tags, you really should not have any dislikes about the bag, or at least to this extent. Based on your videos and knowing that you're the type of person to tell it like it is, I think that if a subbie asked you the same question, you would tell them it's not worth it because if you're unsure about it, you won't wear it! While they are both beautiful bags, I think that you should go with the rectangular mini size in either a pink or a true lipstick red. LVlovercc has a beautiful red mini (square). The square mini seems to sit a little higher at least when I have tried it on. Then again, I am 5'9 and felt the square mini just didn't look right on me. The New Mini seems to flatter some people better. From your response in the video it seemed that you were not "over the moon" with the square. Stick to your initial feeling and go with the New Mini in the color that you absolutely love. Thank you for doing this video. I have been on the fence between the New Mini or settling for the WOC. Love the chain drop on the WOC. Please let us know on which size you decided on. :)
I like the new mini shape/size better. However i had a woc in pink lambskin that started to show wear as a dark blue color on edges. It even started to get wear from the black dust bag when just in storage. I don't know if red would do that too, but you did say you might try pink. I also saw an used pink woc that was a year old and had the same discoloring/wear on edges. I ended up selling my woc because I was too afraid of the wear showing up on it, but I loved the pink color. And i'm an overly cautious bag kind of person when i use them.
really understand how u feel now. i, myself had first wanted the new mini, but was out of stock where i bought and and was way too pricy in the preloved market. what i love about the square mini(and in fact was the one that i bought in the end) is the shape of the bag, that the "square" is a bit different as to the classic flaps which are rectangular. u can actually put a lot more than expected to my surprise, and as u mentioned, though the straps are a bit short(and may go in between your breasts if u r on the curvier side) i kind of got used to it and now rests right above my hips which is a really confortable place now for me to be able to put things in and out with ease. with respect to the different types of leather, i have the caviar and cotton jersey(vintage) and honestly loving the cotton one as i can put in a lot more and the feel of it, i just love.
Minnie, if you want a pop of color in your collection, have you looked into the rectangular mini in the blue with the tinted gold and silver hardware? This also recently came out in the cruise collection and I got mine in the medium large flap. However I did see he mini and it's absolutely stunning! I think you will love it! :) I believe saks prb still had a few left but they r running low haha
My black caviar she rectangular mini is my most used Chanel next to my maxi and I have almost every size flap (you can see the others on my Chanel.) That being said I bought it 2 price increases ago and I also used a lot of Saks reward points. For me that makes a difference when a bag is this small. However, I get a lot of use out of it so in terms of price per wear it is definitely worth it. It is more functional to me than the sq mini which carries less and the woc which unlike this bag will pop open if you stuff it too much. Although I love mine and recommend it highly 3100 is too much for a bag that you have legitimate reservations about.

I walked out with a black rectangular mini flap lambskin gold hardware after being told by my SA that it was a "unicorn" and hard to find. I am in love! I use it all the time. It's better than the woc because fits more stuff.i was worried about lambskin but now I know that it's pretty durable and I've brought it to a beach wedding even and no scratches u can't buff out with your finger. I rock it xbody even though sits higher. Took me a few weeks for it to hit me as well. Now in so happy it's mine!!

I have the square mini in burgundy lamb skin and I'm in love with it. I use it for evenings out to dinner or events. It's gorgeous. Also in 5'1 and it doesn't work cross body on my either. So I stick to evenings with it.
I prefer the square mini, I have been eyeing it for awhile. I think it's different and unique. Hope you pick the square.

Minnie, I initially wanted the square but when I saw the patent rectangular which I have now I fell in love with it. I use mine all the time and glad I have it in my collection and it will stay. But you need love it to keep it otherwise you won't use it. I find I can fit just what I need in the rectangular and I believe it will fit the IPhone 6 better than the square. the new mini, i still adore, the straps are longer and can put about the same amount of things that u can put in a small classic flap(because of the double flaps). but as u said, since this is quite expensive, u should def buy the one that strikes u in right your heart.
Hey minny, i dont own either of the two bags but it seems as though neither of them really make your heart sing. You've taught us that if is doesnt make your heart sing is not worth keeping for the sake of having it. I think you should return the square mini and either keep the rectangle mini or return it and wait till you find the perfect colour. But as for shape i think the rectangle mini would complement your curvy figure more. love you girl and update us when you decide.
I have a rectangle and I really love mine. I am a curve body shape and also 5" 5. The rectangle can fit many SLG too. And as you know, the rectangle has longer chain which is better. I would say, you should go with rectangle. Mini is a very cute piece to add to your collection. If you can't get it out of your head, I'm sure you're gonna get it anyway, right? Hope you will find the perfect one soon :)
Hi there, I just wanted to say that both bags look gorgeous. I honestly wouldn't care what size was it, both are very very cute. If I'm saying this is because I don't own a Chanel bag ( out of my budget) lol. But of course, it does matter to you and I totally understand because it is a serious investment. Girl, go for what you like, what ever makes you happy even if it's a neon color. If you love it and you feel comfortable wearing it than ROCK that baby, why not!!! 👍🏼

If you are not completely feeling the bag, then perhaps returning it might be an option. Perhaps the Chanel boy bag in red with the gunmetal hardware?

It seems pretty obvious, to me, that the rectangular mini will work better for you, given that you can find a different color!
I've never owned a chanel but as a viewer I think the red is beautiful. I don't care for the deeper red color.
Great video! I would say if you want a great cross body, then stick with your WOC if the strap sizes aren't working for you. You have the medium/large to wear on your shoulder which is a great size, or the jumbo double strapped! I've been thinking the mini too but from what I've read the old models seem to be better as they have 4 holes so you can double strap if you need! X
return both and get a bigger flap bag with your favorite red color 😉
Wow Minnie, you don't sound like you really love either of them for yourself (and I mean, despite the comments of other owners), and with those price tags you should love them "to infinity and beyond"!! Dilemmas.. Dilemmas.. dilemmas lol I think both bags are absolutely beautiful!! I believe in this case you should return both. I think for the size of the handbags, the huge price point...And not mention you're not 100% in love with the color. The storage space seems extremely small for even any basic items. Take care xoxo

I bought the so black mini square. I like the rectangular better so I’m selling my so black square on eBay now.
I personally think the cons outweigh the pros for both bags and don't think you need to keep either of them. If one doesn't suit your body type and you're not obsessed with the color of the other, there's no use in adding either to your collection. In my opinion, you should be 100% happy with your purchases.
I have the parent rec mini, and I really love it!! I use it as a grab and go, when I don't need to carry much! Now, I agree that it's not specious, but it's awesome too for s night out! I also, agree that the price is ridiculous, but it's part of the classic flap line, so of course!😜, now I'm dying for another mini, trying hard d to save up, and I would but more minis if I could...and I love that the strap is longer, hope you find what you're looking for!😘😘

Not in love with the the bubblegum pink color bag either. Is it possible that you can get the rectangular mini in a different color? If so, I think that the rectangular mini in a different color would suit you well.

I don't like the square one I also found the strap to short. I got the new mini and love it you can fit more in and the strap in prefect. I also have the WOC but I like my mini better I still love my woc. I love the lamb skin it does not mark that easy like people say. Ps you can make the strap sorter by wrapping it around the flap. I would get the new mini and get the true red it is beautiful and then you can collect more colours later 💕💋
Minnie, what a great video! I am on my search for mini Chanel as well. This is what I think. I like rectangular shape much better due to proportions. I have myself bought that 2016 Chanel red and returned it the next day. Just like you I want a true bright red and this is something between pink and red. The color did not do it for me at all and at this price I feel we should not settle! The fucsia 2016 is a gorgeous color. I have posted both red and fucsia 2016 on my IG. I do not believe that mini comes in fucsia color though. As far as price, yes it is the price of GST, but it's better quality bag. Leather lining and structure. It's like a smaller version of classic. Still a lot of money, but from all videos I have watched here - people love its functionality and highly recommend. Love the minis but i do prefer the rectangular mini as it looks it can fit a lot more and a little less "cutesy". Want a rectangular black lambskin mini in gold hardware, but i'm thinking of getting a larger bag from LV or saint laurent. And for the price of the minis, i could get either a large LV or saint laurent bag. Return! ❤️

I think what I would personally do is get the rectangular in a redder color. I find that the rectangular looks better on shorter people with more curves (as my mother is the same height and body type) my mom has a Chanl Mini in real and it is the new size. She loves it and says that it fits more than it looks. But you do you :)

I think the size is nice for going out, dinner. I am looking for a Chanel mini square lambskin with GHW. They are not easy to find. Why don't you get the Chanel small flap true red caviar leather? the strap is longer, you havethe 4 holes to move the chain and you can fit an iphone plus cles pochette in there!!

I can’t believe the square mini was $2900 four years ago and was still $3200 just this May before the price increase. So it only increased $300 over a 4 year period. And then suddenly, it jumped up $400 and now $3600. How is it holding up now? Have you used any leather conditioner to maintain its shininess and for surface scratches?
Prefer the new mini. Looks better and it would fit more especially bigger phones these days. The black one looks a little 90's. You would def be able to fit small wallet, phone, keys, compact, lippy no problems💜xxx
Mini's are so cute. You don't have red yet. The only thing is worrying about color transfer or marks. Holy....that is expensive. It seems you aren't truly in love. See if there are other colors. What about trying out the new cruise collection wocs instead? If you're not all in, just return them.
Between the 2 I like the little black one, it's adorable. In my opinion the little square one is not seen very often, I dunno but I think the little black one and let's face it, both have way shorter straps than the WOC, so either way it's not going to be the best flattering length anyways and right now you like the black one more. The ONLY thing that might throw a wrench into things is your phone. Does you cell phone fit that cutie pie?? Lol oh Minnie, decisions decisions!! I TRIED ON BOTH TODAY (IN THOSE SAME COLORS... HOW FREAKY BECAUSE I'M JUST NOW SEEING THIS VIDEO) AND THE NEW MINI BETTER SUITS OUR BODY TYPE. I LIKED HOW MY IPHONE6+ FIT IN THE MINI (WITH THE CASE) SO IF I HAD TO CHOOSE I WOULD CHOOSE THE NEW MINI..IF YOU CAN GET IT IN A TRUE RED ... I WOULD BECUZ ITS CLASSIC AND MORE VERSATILE..
I like them to look at but the straps are short on me too. I don't agree about body size and small bags as long as the strap is long enough. I also think they sent very versatile as u can't conceal the strap x get a bright red woc? Cheaper and cute x

Return both since you are not 100% happy. Just wait for the perfect combo. I sold my square black caviar shw mini and got 15B Rectangular black caviar matte ghw... I love rectangular shape better 100% LOVE!! Very expensive bag we need 100% love the item.

Have the square and req mini!! I love them so much more than woc! They hold more for me and more bag for the money than the woc in my opinion.
If it was me I would keep the red I could not get over the strap size of the black. But for you I would say return both you don't seem exited about either one of them!!

Girl! Don't feel stupid! You are completely normal. Like you said it is a lot of money and you need to make sure you like it. I did the same thing with the LV Montaigne and the Dora Malletage, love the way they both look but they just weren't practical for me and they both went back to LV. I think you should go with the fuchsia in the new Mini personally because you are a pink lover and speaking from personal experience when I feel something makes me look larger than I am I tend to shy away from it because i get self conscious. I hope that comes across the way I am trying to explain it, I know the feeling of being a curvier girl and certain things just not looking right, but that is only my opinion. I think you should return them both...the square is not right for your frame. I am similar size to you and have tried this on before and not bought as it just makes me look weird. The other size is appropriate but if you are not in love with the color then don't waste the money. Wait out for the right color or get a boy bag in red. The comparison to woc doesn't seem right as these are bigger. Hope I helped 😄

Honestly Minnie I really think you should return them both and wait for the perfect one to arrive for you. Colour is a huge part of purchasing a bag and it seems you don't like the red so that's a no go. The other does not look good on your body frame so definitely not. I truly believe that for the price point you should get exactly what you want and your right the colour is not a true pink or red. You seem to have a beautiful classic range of handbags in your collection so go for a beautiful true red for your pop of colour. It's classy, will go with everything and be a great colour should you wish to resell. Yes they are both absolutely gorgeous bags but I too am on the curvy-licious side and I know I could definitely not wear them. 😀

Between the two, I like the rectangular Chanel much more than the square one. The square Chanel is just too small -- it BARELY fits a iphone 6 plus (see LVLoverCC's video). The rectangular Chanel is more pleasing to my eyes. I agree with you that the red color is a little muted, but it's still pretty :-).
I would return them both. My reason being........ recently on a trip to Vegas after having shoulder surgery. My LV Brea MM was being difficult to deal with. So I made an impluse decision to purchase the Todd's Mini Bowler Cross Body Bag for $1,450.00. The bag is a cute cute little bag. But, and there's always a but lol. I can't get much more than a card holder and cellphone in the bag. After returning home I quickly realized the bag is simply just to small for my needs. Despite the "cuteness" of the bag it was really a waste of money. Soooo don't waste your money Minks on a "small" bag that doesn't make your heart flutter and won't fit your needs.

I would hold off if I were you. The price tag is way too high IMO to feel like you are "settling". I was in Orlando this week and tried in these exact same two bags at the Chanel boutique in the Mall of Milennia (both were black lamb skin w/SHW). I had the same reaction---pretty pricey for such small bags. I thought I preferred the square but after trying both on, I liked the rectangular one best. But I think given the price point, I'm going to opt for a lamb skin WOC.

Also - I agree the square mini is too boxy. I don't have a large frame but I do have hips, and I felt the square poked out too much and looked awkward. I'm 5'2" and even I thought it rested too high on my frame. I thought the rectangular mini rested on the hip area much more flattering.

I'd also return both, as others have said, and invest in a different/larger bag that makes your heart sing!!!!
the size of the red one is better for the price also you get more for your buck than the smaller one.
Love chanel!! Return these bags the black does not fit and I know that their are turn RED chanel mini bags. I don't think the price is a factor but I don't think that you are totaly happy with either bag. Try the chanel boy mini bag in red.

Way to pricey! May as well wait for the perfect red flap to come out in the small flap size :) side note : they have a new repair policy - any bag over five years doesn't get certain repairs done anymore even if you pay for it. So keep that in mind when you get a lambskin - I doubt yours will need repairs in 5 years hence why I thought I'd let you know. Check out the purseblog article on it :) that's put me off lambskin chanel bags for life caviar only and hope to god nothing happens after 5 years lol

I would definitely buy the square mini if it had a longer strap. I am 5'8" and "curvylicious" (lol!!) so it is way too short on me. :(
Lol I really like the rectangular mini but the straps bit long on me. I wish they have shorter straps. Cuz I'm 5.4 and skinny

As for the Mini - I had one of the rare 4 hole rectangular minis but sold it because it honestly didn't look good as a short shoulder bag, too small, so even though I could double up the chain, it didn't work, and for crossbody too long as I am a bit shorter than you. Went for the square now because in evening outings I want a small but stylish cross-body bag :). I feel minis don't work as short-chain bags
I agree with others, if they don't make your heart sing (as you always say to others) then you are never going to use them and they will sit in their dust bags, and to spend that much to do that is not good.
