I stumbled across your channel today for the first time, absolutely brilliant, cannot praise your voice and pickin' enough. It's sheer joy listening to you, thank you so much for uploading your music.
Always a pleasure to revisit this great rendition of this song. The original girl-power anthem!
Heart warming like the original Mississippi John Hurt. I enjoyed that !
Crushed it, amazing cover. Need to learn this one now
Cool sound
You crushed it with this cover.
Mississippi John Hurt's style of blues was so emblematic. One of the greatest country-folk artists of all time.
It's unimaginable what happened to his museum on this day. I'm speechless at this country.
He has helped us through so much of the daily struggles in life.
Enjoy being in Mexico, Stiles. Keep this man's music alive!
Authentic sounding voice
Excellent job of capturing the flavor and spirit of Papa John. Your followers might be interested in learning a bit about some of the terms found in the lyrics. This is essentially a "flapper's" anthem. Celebrating the liberated, free-spirited woman of the Roaring 1920s. A shingle-bob hairdo was a short cut; straight and flat as a roof shingle. A Tin Lizzie was the nickname for America's first popular mass produced automobile, the Ford Model T. Made of lightweight tin, the term Lizzie came from a popular name for a mule or horse. Some models sported a "rumble seat," which featured an upholstered trunk lid that, when opened, provided the car with a backseat. The term also became slang for the backflip opening found in ladies' lingerie as well as men's long johns. It provided easy access to private areas.
I really enjoyed that info, thanks.
@@Sledgehammers_Nail Thanks for your comment.
Bought my first Mississippi John Hurt album in 1966 and learned to play alternating thumb by listening to him and to Tom Paxton. Great job!
I'm watching this just fine in Mexico. Even your vocal reminds me of John Hurt, one of my favorites from my college days in the 60s. Excellent playing as well.
Thanks for listening;)
You get a great old funky sound out of that guitar. It’s probably of even greater quality than the guitar that song was written on. Enjoyed it much.
It is an inexpensive factory made guitar from about 1960 but good quality. I’d prefer thicker strings on it but I use it for electric as well
Thanks. I will check it out!
The best cover yet, 👍
Great performance!!
This just makes me laugh. In a good way!! I really admire your ability to keep the alternating thumb absolutely dead in while your index and middle fingers weave melodies in, out and through with such beauty. Just great.
Yes it’s all about the thumb!
Very nice!
Have a good time in Mexico, and great playing as always JL⭐️
Well done…What key is this being played? Thank you! Love the guitar too! 🤙
This is in C but the song starts on the 4-chord to C, which is F
@@jlstilesmusic thank you. I need an F harmonica and play in second position to play along. Or just the C harp in first position which I like with this better.
Nice bro!!!
Sounds great, nice singing too
Thanks for noticing the singing-hurt is subtle but great and easy to miss key nuance there
Stay there.
Tempted…
Algo tampon unite.
I have no idea what this means…
