Avi announced in 2017 that he was leaving as he couldn't keep up with the fast pace (non stop touring, recording etc) and that he needed to spend more time with his family and friends (his mother was sick at that time, cancer I believe). He left amicably, given them time to find a new bass (Matt Sallee). The link above from Popspring concert it is about 15 minutes long but it's amazing, you will not be disappointed. I'm sure that the other Pentaholics enjoy that performance as much as I do. Songs in the order recorded there: "Cracked" , "Can't sleep love" , "Evolution of Michael Jackson" and "Water" -3 originals and one evolution. I also recommend "Begginer's guide to Pentatonix", it will help you understand them better. They have a new album coming up this month, on February 12th with only original music (they have released 3 of the songs already). Avi left the group because his mother had cancer and he was always in tour and had depression. He is now making amazing music solo React to Change on the Rise if you can, it's amazing! He is the only change, not and Kirstin always look different, but they are the same.

He left on good terms and helped the band find his replacement Matt Sallee. Avi has his own solo career now and was/is my favorite. We, the Pentaholics, wish him the best always. You would really enjoy listening this band and especially Avi's bass with headphones. Avi and Kevin Olusola (beat boxer and celloist) were best friends and roommates. This cover won them their first , of three, Grammy awards. It was filmed in Avi and Kevin's apartment in the kitchen and closet for about $400. Mitch was a little heavier in this cover is maybe why you think you dont remember him. He is usually pretty thin. He was the singer in Hallelujah with the killer boy George hat. Crazy good tenor. As Avi has stated in interviews since he left the group, he left for his own mental health and to not hold the group back from their potential because he couldn't handle the pace that they were going at. He also said that he was becoming very jaded to music and really felt his heart hardening to it and he didn't want that to set in. He took an entire year to get back to himself and his love for music again. Also his mom had cancer and he couldn't find the time to spend with friends and family that he needed. It took a lot of courage and selflessness to leave the group but he did what was best for himself and the group. He helped the group find the new bass Matt and they all still stay in touch. He was at Kevin's wedding! He has his own solo music now which is Folk Americana and it doesn't compete against PTX at all. His "Change on the Rise" has been featured in Resident Alien Season 1 Episode 3 and also the podcast Relative Unkown. All of his solo music is amazing and it really touches you in your soul.
It's always Mitch! He is a chameleon. He looks different in virtually every video! He is amazingly talented. They all are! But I have to say my favorite probably will always be Avi. 💙. You should check out some of Avi's solo work. He is magic. 😊
This was supposed to be recorded and shot in a pro studio, but the booking fell thru. So they recorded it in a bedroom closet, shot the video in one of their apartment's kitchen, edited it on an iPad, all for a production budget of $400...and it went hugely viral and won them their first Grammy!
They can do so many style and all so well, techno, rap, pop, hip hop, jazz, broadway, rock, classic rock, country, classical, indie, and of Xmas, lol. Enjoy the ride. Love your enthusiasm. 🤗

The guy you are pointing to is Mitch and he and Scott and Kirsten are the original three high school pals from Arlington Texas. The only one to leave was Avi, the bass singer who left for family reasons in 2017 but helped find his replacement Matt.
Avi left the group in 2017, after six years, due to a family issue. PTX has an insane work ethic and touring schedule and he didn't want to distract from the group. The split was very amicable and he even helped them find his replacement. Happily, he is now able to pursue his own creative lane at his own pace.
PTX only had one change AVI the bass man left in 2017 for personal reasons replaced by MATT (the other black guy) Mitch and Kirstin changes their looks all the time
I think if a member is unhappy in an a-capella group it's better that they leave rather than make themselves and possibly the group miserable haha. That said, the only member who left is Avi, for very understandable reasons, and they brought in Matt for bass after that. Like others have mentioned, Mitch is a chameleon but you can usually recognize him by his voice. Most of the members have solo projects. Kirstin released a solo EP, Kevin has his KO channel where he does looping music (check it out, it's seriously cool), Avi now does really awesome solo folk music, Mitch and Scott have Superfruit, a side-channel that they did vlogs and occasional covers on that turned into a music project with it's own pop album, Scott has a UA-cam channel, a bunch of features with other singers, and a TikTok quarantine empire, and Mitch is coming out with new solo music soon under the moniker of "Messer"

Without headphones you miss massive amounts of the soundtrack and they often move from one side to the other in the headphones (panning). Borrow, buy or steal (don't steal), you need headphones to get the full effect.
