    What's up, handsome :) I just wanted to follow-up and tell you and your viewers that I am absolutely LOVING my new Presonus Eris E7 monitors! I don't mind saying that it was your review that gave me the final nudge to buy them. AT $100 a pop on Amazon they are a steal to say the least. They are just as you described them. I run them with a new set of 1/4" balanced cables and have no hum or buzz whatsoever, which was one of my concerns initially. I believe that it is critical to connect them in this way. I have the switches set to provide a flat response at the moment and I find that when I mix with them the mix they yield sounds great in my automobiles and elsewhere, which is what I was after. I was a professional player but not a professional engineer. I grew tire of struggling with my NS-10M's for so many years. These just work for me, so thank you for your valuable input and keep up the great work.

    The hiss and static is typically caused by improper grounding and has been a common complaint with these monitors. This can be easily fixed by using a 2-channel (stereo) passive direct input box (or DI box) with a “ground” switch on it. A couple of inexpensive examples are the Rolls DB24 and the Klark Teknik DI AV 22P.
    Also, another common complaint with the Eris series monitors can be not having enough signal, or power, coming from the source to adequately drive the monitors. This may give people the impression that the monitors amplifiers don’t have enough power. That’s why I use a small preamplifier between my source (PC audio card stereo out) and the DI box, and then from the DI box XLR OUT to the monitors. The preamplifier “boosts” the signal to the monitors.
    In my case, the signal path is: PC stereo out > preamplifier > DI box > monitors.
    I love these monitors!

    • @TheDerekFrank
      @TheDerekFrank  Рік тому +2

      Great insight! I also use a preamp between the monitors and my interface. With the price drop in these, I am thinking of making a Dolby mixing setup with them!!

    • @Pahandopalas
      @Pahandopalas 6 місяців тому +1

      I'm an ordinary buyer. When I buy a product, it should work out of the box. When I buy monitors, they should work out of the box without any hiss, hum, or other extraneous sounds. And I don’t have to buy any additional devices for the monitor to eliminate squeaking, noise, and hissing. They shouldn't exist! If there is a squeak or hiss in the monitors, this means a defect!

    Thanks for the video. In listening to demo's the Presonus sounds better to me as well. This might not be how you normally use them, but which monitor pair do you think would do better with digital guitar modelers/vsts? The KRK might help roll off some of the high end fizz you can get sometimes, but the presonus low end seems to be really nice.

Now Im no audiophile or studio pro, but I did manage to use quality XLR connectors from my SMSL Su-9n DAC to the E7's and a High Quality shielded USB from my PC to my DAC. I can tell you that I am running all my power through a cleaned electricity source. My cable routing is fairly clean and efficient regarding bleed-over. They sound great for my multi-media needs.

    Can't recommend the KRKs in general. They have a certain boominess to them, cheap build quality and some of their models are known for use of the famous goo of death, holding the pcb parts in place. I repaired a few pairs because of that and it normally would have totaled all of them but since I'm so keen on reusing stuff, I spent hours scraping that crap off the pcb, replacing corroded parts and revived them.
