This was so early-2000s! 😅

Once named "the Khorkina" on floor, this element consists of a hop with one and a half twists in horizontal plane to land in front lying support.
It's rated B in the 2022 Code and used to carry the name of Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina - she was last credited in the 2001 Code.
Featured gymnasts: Svetlana Khorkina and Kylie Stone.

Must hurt like a belly flop if it's messed up 😂
Nellie back on her shit again 😂
Was one of my favorite gymnast growing up. She was fearless ❤
Beautiful & original move. Khorkina was the electricity.
This is very difficult and only a few gymnasts are able to execute this with clean technique.
It will be named after Nellie Kim for sure!!!
Should have remained a C at least - it's a lot more difficult than many of the other C dance elements. Plus, there should be more viable options for gymnasts who can't hit a 180 split.
The judges don’t see leaps ending on a prone position on the floor as the type of choreography they want to encourage.
looks like a single axel in figure skating(the first part, not the one that ends up on the floor)
It looks accidental lol. Like oh shit, make it look like I meant to do that real quick! Too funny!
It looks like someone tripping and falling.
Lol
I think that if the skill is rated A it shoudn't be named after the gymnast but B or skills rated higher can be named after the creator
what's it named now, the kim ? 😭
the bounce from the floor impact makes it look ungraceful and almost accidental.
So you want to "Stick" the spin? With the stomach and hips? Hahahah no way. The bounce looks good and is physically unavoidable, at least if you wanna stay safe. You just have bad taste.
Your turn 😊
@@maussolo - i was a gymnast and cheerleader for the better part of 23 years, competing in college until i graduated... im stating facts based on aesthetic visual appeal. so before you go saying someone has "bad taste", understand that everyone has a right to voice their opinion and your assumption is laughable. hence why this skill is no longer seen in modern gymnastics.
@@I.stole.gyu.cookie - I've actually performed a skill similar to this during many, many, many, floor routines when I competed and trained during college. theres more visually appealing ways to come out of the bounce, and rebound from the impact, than what the gymnast in the video is doing (a stag pose). but then again, theres a reason the skill hasnt been seen in over a decade, so...
@@SE0ULsearching it’s not exactly like you can control the bounces? You probably could if you’ve put your soul to learn this trick but no one does it anymore (at least very rarely done) so it’s not like we can go back to those comps in the video and tell the judges it was ungrateful
It technically is a chiffon pie, albeit a pumpkin chiffon pie 🥧. I love your videos. Thank you for making them.
@leslie…. Too funny! Haha
To be honest, I’m sure it’s incredibly difficult but it looks very awkward.
Figure skating in gymnastics😅
It looks so painful!
It's a shame Khorkina decided to play into the war propaganda efforts. Her choice to join the Russian army and then heavily propagate the war in Ukraine was super disappointing and shows exactly why Russian and Belarussian athletes should remain barred.
Y qué tenemos que de ir de los israelíes. Y de los estadounidenses que se dedicaron a bombardeat varios países y lo mismo participaron?
Hypocrite. USA would have to be banned since 2004 at leaaaaast. Ha
I agree! There was this fencing competition like a few days ago or weeks but it was Ukrainian vs Russian. The Ukrainian won and in fencing the original rule is to shake hands but when Covid hit the rule that you could tap each others blades was introduced. When the Ukrainian win she held her blade out for the Russian to tap it but the Russian thought it was a hostile act not to shake hands and made about a 45 minute protest, getting the Ukrainian disqualified. But the Ukrainian is guaranteed a spot in the Olympics so there was no point in the first place for the Russian to create all that drama 😭 💀
Don't forget her disgusting comments during the Nassar trial.
So you believe she had a choice? Shame you are very uneducated.
Why did it get renamed?
Only skills rated C or higher get to carry the name of their creator. So I'm assuming that was the reason.
@@gymnasticsmasterclass I had no idea. Thanks for the info. I love your videos! I've learned a lot from them. Much love!
Looks like two different skill
It’s a cat leap + “the Khorkina”
Looks painful
It looks quite bizarre.
So is this not a skill anymore? Or do they mean no one has competed it since then?
it is but eponymous skills have to carry at least a D rating (maybe C, don't remember well). Since this is a B skill, it's not considered difficult enough to reward the gymnast by naming it after her.
バレェダンサーのようですね?
It looks painful.
It doesn’t look good to me
It’s not an elegant move. The impact on the floor makes it look more like a fall than a salto
I don’t know what variations of this move are credited in gymnastics but there are variations done by dancers that are def more graceful and skillful.
It's more elegant than any of the bad executed standing spins.
That's a single axel
Only the first part lol the rest looks like an accident trying to be portrayed as intentional
Not a very aesthetically pleasing move
Jeez, it looks sooooo old…that decade was terrible-looking in so many ways. Fashion, hair cuts, hair color, music, etc.
Pretty funny.
This is a signature 1980s Louise Lecavalier dance move. She’s a famous Canadian dancer. She could’ve taught them how to land & exit this more gracefully 😂
It’s a shame that the original creator, Louise Lecavalier isn’t credited. She deserves it, it’s an incredible move.
I doubt she could teach anything to a gymnasts of Khorkinas level
Gymnasts >>>>>>> Dancers
Go away. You are ignorant
@@sinhueherrera8984 😂 You don’t know who she is then. She did the exact same move and could land it on her feet. So yeah, she’s superior. She’s in her 60s now and more ripped and athletic than any gymnast. She was so athletic she was cast as a bodyguard in Strange Days with Bassett and Fiennes.
