I was raised COGIC since kindergarten Sunday School, in about 2010/2011, I told my mother what the Lord had said, he said COGIC would spilt, one side would get more worldly, and the other side would return to holiness and sanctification.

I visited a COGIC and the Praise and worship leader was wearing a pair of earring. It turned me off, As the members were cheering him I sat quietly. Although I was not identified I knew that I was the person the pastor was giving a "toung lashing" that we should show our "Appreciation" because he was doing "hard work." That will be my last visit to that church.
I grew up in the COGIC, and I learned about Bishop Mason when I was about nine years old, I know that our fore father would NOT put up with this mess, and Bishop Patterson warned the church about this democratic party they did not hear or listen to what he said. She wasn't put up to preach. She's a politician. Her plan was to give her political speech, not deliver a sermon. Yes, she threw in a couple scriptues because of the setting, but if you look at other settings she was in, her speech writers adjusted to speak on what the audience could identify with. I appreciate the commentary. Let's just remember not to add or take away from reality or change the narrative. She was campaiging..period! Bible verses: His ways are not our ways, Isaiah 55:8-9. Lean not to your understanding. Proverb 3:5-6. Jesus should be the example and if you read your Bible, Jesus walked among the people and preached. He was never confined to any one building. We are to go out.

It is also clear to me that you do not study the history of denominations. So why you are throwing scriptures out please use those same scriptures to learn and do not lean on your own understanding. There’s nothing wrong with denominations because even the disciples had different understandings of the word and ways of God; however, they had one central belief and that is God is real, Jesus is Son, and the Holy Ghost is the spirit of God. However, it would be wise to caution how you perceive people through a comment. In your post, it is evident that you believe I don’t study, that is false. I went to, and completed Seminary school, I am Dr. Helena Hall. The Scripture you quoted in 1 Thessalonians 2:14 does not mention COGIC, that was quite a stretch. That may be where Mr. Mason got his title, but it doesn’t say what you want it to. There are over 45,000 denominations but there is one Christ, the only way to get to the Father. Denominations are man made, built on their understanding. Remember, the temple was destroyed twice and never rebuilt again. Romans 16:17-18, talks about division, please read. The church is us the people not the building. The Scriptures tell us where 2 or more are gathered in my name, there I am also. So you could be sitting in someone’s house with other believers reading and worshiping, God is there. It is being disingenuous to infer God is only in that building. I will end with this: I have watched so many COGIC and other denominations have such elaborate conferences, spending millions of dollars. Show me one Scripture that shows Jesus did this. Show me one Scripture where Jesus stayed in the same place to teach, because Jesus went from place to place and the people came. God said take care of the widowed, poor, children. He didn’t say wear big hats, spend money on these big buildings. You can be a part of that and that’s your right. I go out to see, witness to, help, whom ever I come across. We are to do what God said, not a denomination. They had groups in the Bible days, ie, Sadducees and Pharisees, you see how that worked out.

One of the problems I see in COGIC is that they use music, the organ, guitar, drums etc to work people up into a frenzy. Then the next thing you see is people running around the church doing somersaults and half-pikes like Simon Biles. Lost in all this is the teching of the word. Church has become entrtainment with black folks. Started with the choirs doing dance club moves in the choir-stand. I think Bobby Jones started that mess with those 300lb women twirling around up there. I found I receive much more from sermons Dr. Stanley use to preach than the humming, gasping, hollering, long word enunciating but not really saying anything but "touch your neighbor and say neighhhbor we gon hav church up in hea today".

I attend Greater E and we did not treat her like she was a savior, we received her as a political candidate. Kamala did not preach. She appealed to the congregation to vote for her to be the president...nothing more. She gave her address and sat down. Our Bishop preached after she gave her address. Plenty of people live in sin but still love God. It's not OK, but it's not demonic. She needs to be saved, that doesn't mean she's unfit to run the country. I was raised COGIC since kindergarten Sunday School, in about 2010/2011, I told my mother what the Lord had said, he said COGIC would spilt, one side would get more worldly, and the other side would return to holiness and sanctification.

I visited a COGIC and the Praise and worship leader was wearing a pair of earring. It turned me off, As the members were cheering him I sat quietly. Although I was not identified I knew that I was the person the pastor was giving a "toung lashing" that we should show our "Appreciation" because he was doing "hard work." That will be my last visit to that church.

It is also clear to me that you do not study the history of denominations. There’s nothing wrong with denominations because even the disciples had different understandings of the word and ways of God; however, they had one central belief and that is God is real, Jesus is Son, and the Holy Ghost is the spirit of God. I went to, and completed Seminary school, I am Dr. Helena Hall. The Scripture you quoted in 1 Thessalonians 2:14 does not mention COGIC, that was quite a stretch. That may be where Mr. Mason got his title, but it doesn’t say what you want it to. There are over 45,000 denominations but there is one Christ, the only way to get to the Father. Denominations are man made, built on their understanding. Remember, the temple was destroyed twice and never rebuilt again. Romans 16:17-18, talks about division, please read. The church is us the people not the building. The Scriptures tell us where 2 or more are gathered in my name, there I am also. So you could be sitting in someone’s house with other believers reading and worshiping, God is there. It is being disingenuous to infer God is only in that building. I will end with this: I have watched so many COGIC and other denominations have such elaborate conferences, spending millions of dollars. Show me one Scripture that shows Jesus did this. Show me one Scripture where Jesus stayed in the same place to teach, because Jesus went from place to place and the people came. God said take care of the widowed, poor, children. He didn’t say wear big hats, spend money on these big buildings. You can be a part of that and that’s your right. I go out to see, witness to, help, whom ever I come across. We are to do what God said, not a denomination. They had groups in the Bible days, ie, Sadducees and Pharisees, you see how that worked out.

I found I receive much more from sermons Dr. Stanley use to preach than the humming, gasping, hollering, long word enunciating but not really saying anything but "touch your neighbor and say neighhhbor we gon hav church up in hea today".
@@djsvikings9281 Great comment; King David created the music of the “Church” to usher in the Holy Spirit, the “Shekinah Glory”, at the time, not to entertain or whip people into a frenzy. This is what happens when we get too far away from God. The instruments themselves are not the issue, they used instruments in King David’s time. It’s the heart of the people using them, and how they are used that makes the difference.
Also remember, King David, praised God out of his clothes, the scripture says; it was an unpracticed praise; and there’s nothing wrong with that, once again if it’s real praise. Remember what happened to Michal, King David’s wife because she was embarrassed of his true praise; she was made barren.
The Word of God is the essence of or spiritual growth I agree, but let us not count out the ordinances of God. The Word, the music, and the instruments of praise should all work together correctly in the Christian Church.

I attend Greater E and we did not treat her like she was a savior, we received her as a political candidate. Kamala did not preach. She appealed to the congregation to vote for her to be the president...nothing more. She gave her address and sat down. Our Bishop preached after she gave her address. Plenty of people live in sin but still love God. It's not OK, but it's not demonic. She needs to be saved, that doesn't mean she's unfit to run the country. She did speak/preach to God's people, and Bishop Sheard let her do it. She doesn't even go to church, or has a relationship with Jesus. She never speaks his name, but she get open opportunity to speak at a bishop's church. If that is ok, then I will be ready to step into the pulpit next Sunday. I am more qualified than she is.
