I felt that "(I) GET A HUNDRED PERCENT" so damn much. It really does suck when you're given the whole load to deal with when the others do absolutely nothing.
@@Virj_grape it's rough man, when an assignment that is designed for four people to work on is so big and no one does anything besides you so you have to take the initiative and when they do finally do something it's literally like one sentence like in the video that we can't even use. Can't wait for us to get a grade and them acting like they deserved it as well. Can't wait to be done with this project, get me out lol
Pro tip: Just tell your teachers/professors that your groupmates aren't doing the work right away. Express your concerns that they might not get the project done on time, and explain that you will only be doing your portion of the project and your groupmates should be graded separately for theirs. I've personally never had any issue with this, but be careful if your professor is just a jerk. Personal story: When I was in high school I was taking a cooking class as an elective. I was the only senior and I was paired up with a few freshman girls to bake a pie. Each group had to bake different types of pies; we had to make one of the more difficult pies, AKA a custard pie. Well, naturally, I was doing most of the work, and the other girls weren't paying attention to the eggs while tempering them (which caused them to scramble... TWICE). I went up to the teacher and told her I would make my own pie after class and that I was not going to be working with this group because they would not do the work. She agreed and let me do my own custard pie. The next day I finished my pie and the merengue, and the day after was when we presented our pies. Out of every single group and cooking class, I had the only standing custard! And also those girls got a D- lmao. I'm sure that experience taught them to actually do their work for the rest of high school. I didn't want my senior grades brought down because of them. TLDR; Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. Your grades are more important than a moocher's grades... and feelings.
Sadly my professor just tells me to work it out myself as it’s preparing us for working in the real world where we don’t always get our desires teammates or people we like. Teaching us conflict management apparently. I think he just doesn’t want to get involved lol 😂
Out of all the classes to not do work in, I feel like culinary is the worst. You can literally destroy food if you don't pay attention. Cooking and baking takes time. Cramming an assignment in an hour is possible, and the assignment will just be horrible, but with culinary, if you wait for too long, you actually won't have any time to even turn something in.
Personal story also cause I kind of relate to this. I remember in my history class we had to create a world war 2 poster. I obviously wanted to work alone cause I preferred not to work with anyone else, but unfortunately I was paired up with a girl since me and her were good at drawing (she traces her art a lot, so you know). Fast forward a week and she did nothing, and also was gone for three days cause she was "sick." I ended up having to do all of the work and got a 90, while she got a 0 (it was also a major grade so I got a passing six weeks grade than her). To this day, I hate everyone who doesn't do their work in school. Like, it isn't that hard. People are never gonna go anywhere in life because they failed school, and they blame it on anyone.
Recently, I had a group project with 4 other people to create a video discussing a topic. I had to beg them to send their own videos talking about the topics, all the way until the last day when they finally sent me. But 1 person sent a random unrelated video, so I reported to the lecturer about it. She gets 0% luckily
I was on the fence about subscribing cause I'm already subbed to so many channels and was only trying to leave room for Calico cats, but his vids have me rolling, so I made an exception 😅😅😅
I had a group like this in high school one time. In the computer lab, they would be god knows where doing god knows what and barely spoke to me. Day of presentation, I remember sitting with my “group” and not a single slide was done, nor did they write a thing. Come time to present, I was 3rd out of four so the first two just stood there and winged it with a blank PowerPoint behind them, then my part was the only part that had a PowerPoint and speech, then the last guy who also winged his. The teacher thankfully had some sense and graded my part individually and told the other three they could work together to make it up so they didn’t take a massive L to their grade. They failed, again, and one of them dropped out after that year, ones dead and the other was hard on pills last I heard IF he’s still even alive. It saddens me but not surprising
"I deserve the 100%" part was exactly me back in 9th grade when I was doing a Crude Oil Earth and Space presentation project when my classmate, Brian, would just post only grim reapers and stock images of grandma sucking a lolipop while staring at you on the slides. I did his slides for him because I worried it affected my grade since my teacher really emphasized the project being a "group grade" rather than individual. It was stupid.
I think teachers should group the serious students with other serious so they can get A's together and group the students that don't care with other students that don't care so they can get F's together so the ones that don't care can't effect the serious students grades
I understand that feeling: I had to read and summarize all the chapters of a book while my groupmates only grabbed stock children's drawings and put them together in an attempt to show the story.
Group projects can be the worst or the best thing ever depending on who you're working with. In the final (online) college course I had before graduating, the final assignment was a group paper. There were supposed to be 4 of us originally but 1 of our group dropped out of the class early on so we were stuck with 1 less person to divide the work. 3 weeks before the deadline we decided to get started. The 3 of us agreed on what we cover and tried staying up to speed with each other. However 2 weeks later, me a girl in our group stopped hearing from the third girl. The next few days we tried reaching out with no reply. It wasn't until the last 3 days before the due date that we contacted the professor saying that our third member had gone awol and there was still her whole section of the paper she hadn't done. Turns out she had dropped the class without giving us a heads up. The two of US had to try and scramble something together in 2 days for her portion.
